Chapter Three
It was past six and the family were starting to leave one by one. I knew this because I had an air vent that led to outside in my bedroom which only I knew about, since I had heard conversations from Kaycee's dates to Kim and Jim's arguments. Good times and the bad times, unfortunately with this special thing that was hide slightly behind my wardrobe.
The last people to go were, Mr and Mrs Courts - Jim's parents. I heard Mrs Lucina Court bid farewell to her grandson telling him to visit them more often and how much she loved him then slowly went on her travels.
Leaving just Alex and Kim on the doorstep, since Jim had followed his mother and father to the airport.
I was just about to turn the fan off from me hearing anything else, when I caught on to a conversation going on between the two of them.
"Why didn't you tell them when you had the chance? You may not see them now for a few months, you've got to tell everyone sooner or later Alex. I know I'm your mother and everything but I desperately want everyone to know soon it's not fair keeping it from everyone."
"And I will tell them. When the time is right. I've only just got back for peeps sake." With that the two of them walked back in the house, leaving me completely confused on their puzzling conversation.
I decided either this family were keeping secrets from each other - or I Avalin Grace was just too damn nosy.
I ended up falling asleep after that, I woke up to a dark window. Looking at the alarm clock I noticed it was only eleven pm and was not tired at all. I had been asleep for over four hours and was probably going to have some trouble getting back to sleep. So I decided to get myself a drink from downstairs, then probably watch some late episode of friends on my box-set.
Since it was close to midnight now I decided to go downstairs quietly and slowly since the last time I huffed down them, I had a red eyed monster named Kaycee give me the dirtiest look a girl could give. The girl loved her sleep- well when she wasn't out partying. I got to end of hall near the kitchen when I heard a faint sound come from inside. It sounded like Alex's, like he was trying to reassure someone on the phone, probably.
"I know I know, and I'm sorry. I really am. I'm just trying to feel at home first, else it might not go how we've assured.'' I peeked round the door to see his hand in his hair looking tired and anxious. He must of heard the door creak since his head snapped round and noticed me through the door. "Look I've got to go,'' he said. Now having a staring match with me. "Yeah you too.'' With that he hung up, now glaring at me like I was a piece of trash. "Was you just listening to my conversation?'' His voice got louder, and he looked well pissed off, handsome still the same.
"I- um- I- ummm," I didn't know what to say, him staring at me with those beautiful eyes made me blush too much, so I just put my head down.
"You was, wasn't you. You little nosy bitch,'' he said shaking his head, making it the more messier.
"I just came down for a drink, that's all. Sorry that I interrupted your important conversation," I quietly spoke only so loud that he could hear, making my way to the fridge.
"You know what? You have no right in listening to my conversation. You're not even apart of the family, you're just some poor, nosy little girl who should of gone straight into care. Why the hell my mom's bringing you up I don't know. You're just using them, I know it,'' he gritted his perfectly white teeth just about to make his way back into the front room, when I grabbed my bottle of water and threw it at his head.
He turned around, roar red.
"What the hell you freak?!" He nearly screamed.
"How dare you?" I shook my head, he was getting me way worked up. He was no beautiful saint. He may of been utterly gorgeous but he was one of them. Pretty on the outside yet ugly inside. "You don't know me. You tell me I have no right, coming in here listening to your sorry ass conversation, which by the way wasn't so hard to hear since your voice is pretty loud. Well guess what, you have no right telling me what your opinions are of me. You know I may be poor whatever, I don't care. But your family talk about me way more then they have you in the last two years I've been here, I never understood why. I guess it's because your some rich, big headed bastard." I yelled in his face, walking straight past him, as he stood there shocked. Like he wasn't used to someone answering him back. Like he was always in control.
"Oh by the way I'm not little, I stand at five foot two and a half, thankyou very much.'' And with that I strutted back up the stairs, still forgetting my drink, which was now probably on the floor - unless he had taken it.
A/N - It was a little short, compared to the rest of the chapters. But I'm working on making them way longer. I already know where the plot is going and the story had still got loads of folds to it. So get ready to see way more interaction between the two of them. Alex is pretty loaded btw too - he's earned all that on his own though without his families help.
