Through all those lost loves never found
who left me crying alone in my room,
you were the one who was always around,
and together, you and I, we made it through.
You never had it better or worse;
you and I were always the same.
I saw myself in every one of your words -
you always seemed to understand the pain.
I could pick almost every line
and it would fit my situation.
You didn't make it all suddenly fine,
but you toned down those tricky complications.
So, from teenagers across the land -
those past, present and still to come -
we'd like to say, with outstretched hand,
"Thank you, pop music industry."
