Random

Random, random, is it all just random?

Who is happy and who is sad?

Who's fortunate and who's unfortunate?

Do the guilty get judgment and the innocent get justice?

Or is it all just random?

Someone innocent has cancer.

Someone guilty got a raise.

Someone innocent found a wife.

Someone guilty got caught.

Is there no pattern?

Random, random, it must be random.

Or is there some order amid the chaos?

Is there someone calling the shots up there?

If that's the case they must be confused.

For there are many people that are unjustly accused.

Random, random, yes it must be random.

Yet how are we to know who's guilty and who's innocent?

How are we the people to tell the difference between a murderous fiend

and someone who was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time?

After all things aren't always the way they seem.

Random, random, it might not be random.

How are we to know?

There isn't a way to tell.

So maybe it isn't so random.

Or maybe it is.

Random, random, is it all just random?

I guess we'll never know…
