A/N Hello!! I'd just like to say that this is the first poem I've put on here (it's quite scary!!). I'm normally more of a story-writing person, so I really don't know why I've randomly started writing poems (maybe I'm possessed!!). Anyway, I'd really, really like to know what people think, since I honestly don't know how good it is (probably not very good, but we'll have to wait and see). Anyway. Enjoy, and please please please review!! Thanks! XD
I am the straw hut,
You are the brick house.
I the ant,
Small, ugly, stupid,
You the giraffe,
Tall, beautiful, graceful.
Better are you
Than the elephant,
Large and clumsy,
Easily scared.
Not even a mouse am I,
Not good enough;
Better you at one thing
I cannot.
On the ladder of life,
You are forever above me,
Just on rung,
But still above me,
Always slightly better.
Though I strive to reach up
And climb beside you
Your foot slips
And though you keep your balance
Your perfection
It hits my hand
As I struggle
I have no balance,
No perfection,
To keep
You do not notice
I crash to the ground
Shattered
For people to tread upon
And walk over
And break.
You didn't mean to
You didn't know
Perhaps you thought that
I climbed beside you
I didn't
I don't now
For I
Am shattered.
