Every time you smile
there is a massive change;
the world goes topsy turvy
with every word you say.
No-one else seems to see
the effect you seem to have -
the way each flower, leaf or tree
and every beast of land or sea
seem to turn, and seem to be
listening to every word.
But I notice. And I understand
why they turn to hear -
for every word, so very precious,
will always disappear
as soon as it's been said.
And so I promise to listen
and store them in my head.
Every word means the world to me,
and I wouldn't give them up
for anything.
