My name is Nikko Strega. I have shaggy light brown hair with brown eyes. I found out that I was a witch on my 18th birthday. When I woke up on my 18th birthday I had the strangest feeling. I just ignored the strange feeling and got out of bed to take a shower. After my shower, I dried off and went to pick out my clothes to wear today. I put on my skinny jeans that look faded and worn out; then I put on my Jimi Hendrix T-shirt, and my blue and white striped Ocean Pacific hoodie.
After I got dressed, I went to the dining room to have breakfast, when my mom and dad surprised me with waffles, eggs, bacon, and by yelling,
"Happy 18th Birthday Nikko!!".
"Thanks Mom. Thanks Dad. This looks delicious".
"You're welcome, sweetheart."
"Wow, Nikko now you're a man. I'm proud of you son."
I sat down at the table and held hands to pray with my mom and dad to thank god for the food. After we prayed we ate our breakfast. After breakfast my parents gave me a present to open up. I opened the present and inside was a car key. I was so excited.
"Your new car is in the driveway honey." said my mom.
"It's a Belize Blue Pearl 2011 Honda Accord Coupe." My dad told me.
"You got me a car. I can't believe it. Thank you mom and thank you dad." I replied.
"Can I drive it to school today?" I asked.
"Well of course you can, sweetheart. It's your car." replied, my mom. Then, I hugged and kissed my mom and dad goodbye and told them,
"I love you." Mom and dad both called after me,
"Have a good day and drive safely."
When I got to the driveway, I saw the most beautiful brand new Belize Blue Pearl car. I got into the car and checked my mirrors and positioned my seat. Then I left the driveway heading over to my best friend, Sonya's, house to pick her up and go to school. Sonya Milan and I were best friends since we were in diapers. She has curly blond hair and bright blue eyes. When, I got to Sonya's house she had a shocked face when she saw me pulling into her driveway in my new car. When, I parked in her driveway I called over to her and asked,
"Hey Sonya need a ride to school?"
"Wow nice car Nikko. Of course I need a ride to school. Plus I can't say no to the birthday boy."
"Hey Sonya don't you mean birthday man?" Sonya laughed at me and replied,
"You're not a man yet, until you're 20, Nikko. You're still a teenager, hence eighteen."
"You got me there Sonya." I buckled my seat belt.
"Buckle up Sonya, safety first." Sonya put on her seat belt and then I pulled out of her driveway and we headed towards school.
When we got to school I parked my new car in the senior parking lot. Sonya and I got out of the car and we walked to our first block class, psychology. In class the teacher Ms. Brown was talking about Sigmund Freud. I was taking notes when I dropped my pen on the floor. I thought darn it. Now I have to get out of my seat to get it. Then when I was looking at my pen on the floor and thinking about getting it, my pen levitated off the floor and landed on my desk. I was shocked and couldn't believe that just happened. I thought I was going crazy for a second, and then I thought it must've been my imagination. I texted Sonya and asked, Did u c what just happened to my pen? My phone vibrated in my pocket and I slid it open to read her text. Sonya replied, I did c. That was weird. I think I'm the only one who saw it. What happened? I replied, I have no idea what happened. I just looked at my pen and thought of getting it. Then the pen just levitated off the floor and landed on my desk.
"Nikko!" scolded Ms. Brown.
"Put your phone away. If you get caught with it again; you're getting an ASD."
"Sorry Ms. Brown, I'm putting it away right now." I replied.
For the rest of class I paid attention and took notes. After class, Sonya and I walked to her next class and talked about what happened.
"That was weird, Nikko. It's impossible for a pen to lift off the ground and land on your desk." Sonya said.
"I know. I don't believe in magic. But that's all I can come up with for explaining what happened." I replied.
"Well, here is my 2nd block class, Nikko. I have to go. Let's talk more about this during lunch okay. Oh and if anything else weird happens let me know okay." Sonya said.
"Okay Sonya, I will." I replied.
Just then I heard the minute bell and I rushed to get to my second block class, Calculus, on time. I just made it to my desk when the bell rang. I started to daydream while, Mr. Terry was teaching. I was thinking about what happened in first block when, all of a sudden I heard someone say
"What's happening to all the pencils? They're floating in the air."
I stopped daydreaming and looked at everyone's pencils. They were floating in the air. When I stopped thinking about what happened to my pen in first block, all of them fell to the ground. After the bell rang I went to my third block class, English. In English class we were reading Edgar Allan Poe. My English teacher, Mrs. Salon, called on me to read the poem Spirits of the Dead by Edgar Allan Poe aloud.
Then after I finished reading the poem; I felt a cold breeze around me and then I saw my grandmother. I was shocked. My grandmother died when I was 10 years old. She couldn't be here right in front of me young again like in her old pictures of when she was younger. I couldn't believe this. It wasn't possible.
"Nikko. You're 18 and that means you're coming into your powers now. The poem you read worked as a spell to call on me since I'm a spirit of the dead." said my grandmother.
"What are you talking about?" I asked my grandmother.
"I have something very important to tell you Nikko and I need you to listen and believe what I'm about to tell you." said my grandmother.
"Grandma just tell me what you have to say. I promise I will listen and believe what you tell me." I said.
"You're a witch." replied my grandmother. Then she disappeared.
