A Cowboy's Dream

We were about to head to Bush Airport to catch our flight to Drew, Arkansas for Liv's wedding and I was over the top excited. Liv and Ethan were the perfect couple…they didn't just look good together they were good people as well. Liv and I have been living together for two years and Ethan…well, he's a character. This all happened so suddenly so there were many things to do even the day that we were leaving! Currently, I'm on the phone with the mail service to put it on hold.

"Right, right now I'm going to say two months. However, I'll call if the date is extended. Okay, thanks," I shut the phone.

"Our mail has officially been put on hold," I said getting up from the sofa, "Ethan, you just have to pick it up periodically and call if there's anything important."

"No problem," He smiled as Liv walked in, "Hey baby." He went up to her and kissed her, "Are you ready?" He asked smiling.

I'd never really seen Ethan so happy. I was really happy for him. I smiled into my hands and wished I had someone to feel that way too.

I cleared my throat, "Okay, ready to go?"

Liv moved back and giggled, "Yup!"

We grabbed all our luggage and locked the door.

"What time are your parents getting to the airport?" Ethan asked as we stepped inside the elevator.

"They'll be there, don't worry Ethan!" Liv rolled her eyes.

About an hour later, due to Houston traffic, we arrive at the airport and Ethan had to park to make sure his 'two best girls' got through the airport okay.

"What, are we three and incapable of doing anything without daddy?" I looked up at Ethan, blinking innocently.

"Shut up, I just want to give a proper good-bye," he said lightly punching my arm.

He cleared his throat and stepped back, "Wait, there's something I need to talk to you two about…"

Liv and I gave each other a questioning look before turning to Ethan.

"I just…do your parents know about Juhi?" He asked looking at Liv.

She looked startled, "Um, I don't think so."

I jumped in, "Good, let's keep it that way."

They both looked at me, but Ethan beat Liv to the punch. "Why?"

I shrugged, "It's a lot simpler. No drama. It's such a controversial topic and it would mean we have to talk about them," I said, talking to Ethan.

"You're my sister," he said in a no-argument tone.

"Fine, we'll talk about it later. We're late," I pointed to the lady on the speaker, as she spoke of boarding our flight.

"Okay, okay," He gave me a hug and kissed Liv. I walked closer to the entrance to the plane, I wanted to give them some alone time. I knew that they both talked about Liv spending the time before we left for Mississippi with me.

I thought about the night this all happened and smiled

------

I was lying, sprawled out, on my sofa when I heard a loud screeching scream outside my door. By the time I sat up, the door flew open and my roommate, who also happened to be my best friend, ran in yelling incoherently.

"Oh my god! I can't believe it really happened! I am so happy!" She jumped on me, making me fall back on the sofa again.

I laughed, pretending to be confused and asked, "Okay...so, what's going on?"

"Ethan asked me to marry him!" She said loudly, her smile growing wider every second.

I stood up, making her fall to the ground, "Holy molasses!" I blurted out in fake pretense. I ran to the kitchen and got out a pint of Rocky Road ice cream and two spoons. I gave her one spoon and sat back down, "Spill!" I yelled at her.

"Oh god, so we went out to the diner for some food," she started but I interrupted her.

"The diner? Really?" The diner was about two blocks down from us. It was run down, served bad food, and the only time we ever stepped foot in it was when we were drunk. Therefore, that tells you a lot about 'the diner'.

"Hey, Ethan likes that place! And plus, we only had a little to eat there. He said he didn't want me to get hungry because we weren't going to have dinner until later."

"Okay okay, get on with the story!"

"Well, after that we went to Hermann Park, back by the fountain and sat around looking at the stars and we just talked. Then he took me to a restaurant close by and you will not believe this!"

"What?" I asked snickering, because I already knew.

"He had rented out the whole restaurant!"

I laughed because I couldn't keep it any longer, "I KNOW, didn't you love it?!"

She sat up, her eyes wide and mouth open from surprise, "You knew?"

I laughed again, "Yeah, Ethan and I had talked last week. Liv, I'm really happy for you two. Congrats! Let me see the ring! I can't believe that's not the first thing I asked!"

She showed me the ring, we hugged and then the water works started, "Thanks Juhi, it means so much! I can't believe this is happening. I love him so much and my family loves him too! This is so amazing!"

I laughed, "I know, I can't believe it's happening too! So are you going to get married back in Miss? Or do you want to do it here?"

"Oh, definitely back in Miss. You have to see it! It is so beautiful out there! And Ethan told me today he wants to get married there too!"

"Well, that is awesome Liv….so…do I get to plan it?" I asked her, looking away.

"Juhi, of course! I didn't think I had to ask!"

I laughed, "Just making sure! Who knows, maybe you have some event planning friend back home!"

-----

I rolled my eyes and in the span on my eye rollage Liv asked me if I was ready.
I nodded and we headed over to the man who was boarding people onto the plane.

We both stopped at the entrance and waved back to Ethan.

"See you soon!" Liv said before following me into the tunnel.

We made our way to our seats, which were in the middle.

"Ah, 40 A, here I am." I stowed my bag away and stuck my purse underneath the chair in front of me. 'A' was the aisle seat and Liv had the window seat. That meant the middle seat, 'B', was going to be used by someone else.

"Just ask that person to switch seats with you!" I told Liv.

"No, I like the window seat! And I'm sure that person will be more inclined to switch seats if they see that they are getting the aisle seat instead!"

I shook my head no.

"Juhi, there are things I can do and say that will make this journey very unpleasant for you."

"Ugh, blackmailing me isn't going to work," I replied.

"Well, I am telling you a perfectly logical reason as to why you should move instead of me, but you won't listen to me!" She said laughing.

"Run that by me again," I said closing my eyes.

"Well, the person that will sit in this middle seat will be more swayed by having an aisle seat than a window seat," She pointed at my seat.

I started to scoff, but someone interrupted, "She's right, you know."

I looked up at the stranger, "Excuse me?"

"I am definitely more willing to be swayed by the aisle seat than the window seat," he replied smiling…with a dimple.
