"I don't love you. There's nothing more to say."
I watched him walk away, tears silently dripping down my face. There was nothing more to do, nothing more to say, to convince him that I loved him with all my heart. I clutched my stomach, reminiscing about the good days; the laughs we shared, the things we did. Memories. That was all I had of him. It was deplorable – we both knew it.
"We were good together. You know that. What happened to us? What changed?"
I stood at the footsteps of what was a picturesque background of land and sky intertwining together. He hadn't seemed even slightly remorseful of what had happened.
He shrugged nonchalantly. "You did. You became so wrapped up in yourself that soon, you had no time for us."
Slowly, I slid down to the ground. Helpless, desperate.
"I didn't like the person you became. I don't."
People have a right to change. Don't we?
"People also have a right to stay the same. We used to see the world exactly the same way. Then one day... we didn't. I can't handle that. I'm leaving."
The tears were gone. But the pain remained.
He reached out and touched my cheek lightly. A goodbye.
Desolate.

February: For some, it's the month of love. Friendship for others. As for me… it's the month of heartbreaks.
