You don't see me. You don't know.
"Hey, let's catch the bus home." Her.
You don't know how I feel.
"Dude, you coming, too?" You.
You don't know this pain.
"No, I'll probably hit the movies or somewhere first." Me.
When she smiles at you, it hurts.
"You two hang out way too much, anyway." Her.
When she holds your hand, it hurts.
"Well, duh, we're best friends." You.
When she loops her arm through yours, it hurts.
"You two lovebirds get going, I'll be fine by myself." Me.
Sorry, that was a lie.
I always hide behind polyurethane smile and porcelain cheek.
"Aww, really? Well, okay." You.
I watch you leave with her. She looks back and smirks.
I'm the last one, left all alone. You won't be coming back with that witch, will you?
An hour passes; I'm still sitting there.
- - -
"How much sleep did you get last night? You look awful." You.
It doesn't matter, because you make me feel refreshed.
"I stayed up late studying for the test fifth period." Me.
"You should get more sleep." You.
I feel happy that you're worrying about me. But then...
"There you are!" Her.
When she walks over and kisses you, it hurts.
"Oh, hey!" You.
Hey, tell me...
"What's up?" You.
"Nothin', I just wanted to see you, is all." Her.
Why not me?
"That's not necessary." Me.
That was a whisper. You didn't hear it, but she did.
It's hard not to smile at the face she made.
"Wanna go to the mall after school?" Her.
"Sure. You coming?" You.
Can't you stay here?
"Naw, you two go ahead." Me.
Is it so wrong?
"You two hang out so much you might as well be married." Her.
Is it so wrong?
"If we were, you'd totally be the wife." You.
Is it so wrong I'm also a guy?
"What? Now way, I'm definitely the one that wears the pants." Me.
I don't remember how long it's been...
"You'd both be the wife." Her.
…since I fell in love with you.
"No, I'd definitely be the husband, I even have a girlfriend." You.
- - -
"I know how you feel." Her.
I hate her.
It's her fault.
"Don't act dumb, I know you love him." Her.
She stole you from me.
"Why, I don't know whatever you mean!" Me.
She tore my heart to pieces.
"I'm just going to tell you right now to give up, 'cause he's mine." Her.
Oh really? Well, I have a few words for you, missy:
"That's not happening." Me.
"Ugh, fine, but when you end up all alone don't blame me." Her.
What do you see in her?
- - -
"I have to tell him." You.
Sorry, I'm eavesdropping.
"What, why? You made me go out with you so you wouldn't have to tell him and ruin your friendship." Her.
"He's so lonely, I can't do this anymore." You.
"No! I won't let you!" Her.
Tell who what?
"Look, I know you like me, but if I don't tell him, I would feel terrible. Even if he hates me and it ruins our relationship, I need to tell him and get it off my shoulders." You.
I want to burst in, but I shouldn't.
"Trust me, he doesn't see you that way, I talked to him. It would be a waste of time." Her.
A thick silence.
I can tell you're disappointed. But who do you want to tell something to? What do you want to tell him?
"...I'm going to tell him anyway." You.
"No, come back!" Her.
The door swings open and you see me. You gasp. I gasp.
You run away. Was your face red?
"How much did you hear?" Her.
The one you wanted to talk to... it wasn't me, was it?
"Who does he want to talk to?" Me.
…I love you.
"...No one in particular." Her.
But it seems you love someone else.
"You know, right?" Me.
Why did you look like that?
"I don't know what you're talking about." Her.
Why is she pretending like she doesn't know?
"I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about." Me.
Why did you run away?
"I'm sure I don't." Her.
She walks away and I'm left alone.
And like so many miniature waterfalls, tears.
And I fall into myself and clutch my shoulders.
And I feel as though I'm being watched.
Wouldn't it be funny if it was you?

Thank you for reading! For a while I've been wanting to write something like this. I got inspired by some BL oneshot I read once. It was beautifully tragic and I loved it. Wonderful art, too! If I find it again I might just post a link.
Anyway, if you're worried, don't be, my dears! This is only part one. c: I'll be uploading more. Eventually.
Named after the song Catch the Wind by Donovan.
