This is stifling.

I stare at the phone,
Waiting for it to flash blue
With some message from you -
A call at best,
But a simple text will do.

Only then can I rest,
Secure in the knowledge
That you care, and are well -
Only then will this Hell
Subside; fade away;
Disappear.

But still I sit here,
With no flashing lights,
And no comforting ring.
I wait for the night -
It might - just might -
Be kind, and bring
Some gentle words.

This is stifling.
