Something fun I wrote way back in 8th Grade...

.:~Once Upon A Time~:.

Her story begins with "once upon a time",

and she cannot help but wonder in her mind

if it ends with the usual "happily ever after";

or is her fairy tale an exceptional disaster?

What if the slipper does not fit, or the curse does not break?

What if she was trapped in her sleep, never to awake?

Is she to believe there is no hope,

that she has no say in where her life will go?

Is her fate locked? Has her destiny been set?

Can she not break the boundaries of her life's silhouette?

Can the bleak gray skies remain above?

Can the loneliness of her life be kept from love?

Is having only animals for friends a sign of being strange?

Or is there more in her life, and she just needs to change?

She has wished upon a star. She has dreamed with her heart.

She has fallen in the light, and endured through the dark.

She has laughed, and she has cried.

She has killed, and she has revived.

She has forgiven, but has not forgot.

She has surrendered, but has not given up.

She has done right, and she has done wrong.

She has mistakes that she has learned from.

She has come out on the bottom like so many had predicted,

and her confidence is bruised by the pain that has inflicted...

.

Once upon a time there was a girl with a life

which seemed to get harder and nothing ever went right.

She had her hopes. She had her doubts.

She never stopped to think about an easy way out.

She kept moving forward through the unknown,

unmasking the truth that was rarely shown,

and she remembered those magical myths

that told the stories of beautiful princesses.

With enchanting spells and mystical creations,

where some wanted peace and others domination.

Where Good versus Evil was always the case;

Good always prevailing over the Evil's reign.

The legends of love overpowering the hate.

The tales that brought courage and faith.

The things she wanted to believe existed,

but could never find in the world she lived in.

"Once upon a time" is an inevitable beginning;

everyone has a story they are living.

But how will the end of their tale be perceived?

Because "happily ever after" is not guaranteed.
