It was about ten a. m. when I woke up. Everything was quiet, and I did not like it so I got up to go upstairs. I went into the living room there was no one. Then I went into the kitchen. In the kitchen I found little Samantha and Jade. They where making breakfast, and having a great time. It was a family picture moment.
Samantha had cracked open an egg and it had gone all over the place on the table, Jade had some flour over her face and she was smiling. Samantha was the first to notice me and when she did she waved her hand over to her head and her mother's.
"Were making breakfast." little Samantha said with a smile.
"More like making a mess." Jade said with a laugh. I laughed with her because the kitchen did look like a mess. There was things all over the place, flour over the floor and Jade. Eggs over the table and on little Samantha, Milk was in one of the bowls, with the cinimmon next to it laying on its side. There also was a bit of panicake mix on the table.
"Yea. Kind of looks like that." I said.
Jade smiled and looked around seeing what type of mess they had actually made in the kitchen. "We'll clean that up." She said reasuring me.
"It's okay." I told her.. "Only having some fun." Then I grabbed an egg and cracked it in little Samantha's hand. She laughed and said 'Eww' as the sticky egg went down her hand and on the table.
Her mother laughed and grabbed some flour throwing it at my face. "Now your a cook." She said.
I was laughing and it felt kind of good, like a family.
After about twenty minutes or so we finished making the food and called everyone in to eat. First came Logan then Jack, and then the Sam. After the three of them Victor came in. He sat at the far end of the table, not saying a word. Everyone was wondering if something was wrong because the look on his face actually showed that something was wrong with him. It scared me a bit but I have learned not to worry about him. From the last time but he left me then, so I really didn't know what to think about this one.
"Is something wrong?" I asked him in my head.
"Yea." He said. "I'll tell you later. If it's not to late then."
"No." I told him in my head. "Tell me now. I want to know what's bothering you."
"It's nothing." He answered back in my head, then he stood up and walked away from the table.
I just stared at his retreating back as he walked away from everyone. I was still worried about what he was hiding. Was it something bad, or what? I really didn't know.
When he left Jade just stared at me, I knew she was staring at me. She wouldn't say anything till after he had left, and she was sure he wouldn't hear anything that she was saying. "What's wrong with him?"
"I don't know." I told her truthfully.
Then it went quiet. No one spoke till after breakfast was done and the three kids went to watch TV, while Jade and I talked. We actually didn't talk for a while, but we cleaned the table and put away all the extra food for Victor incase he wanted some later. It took about half an hour before we actually finished and when we did Jade finally started to speak what was on her mind.
"I have a question Samantha." She said turning around from the kitchen sink to look at me.
"What is is?" I asked sitting at the edge of the table. I really wasn't sitting just leaning against it.
"Well would you be able to turn Samantha, Logan, Jack, and Sam into vampires if something goes wrong?" She asked. "I really want them to be safe." She then added.
"But what about you?" I asked.
She turned around to look back at the sink before she answered me. "I really don't care about me." She started. "I just care about them. They are everything to me and I want them to be safe. I want them to be able to live a life and be a family with eachother. I would sacrifice myself for them if I had to."
"You are their family." I told her. "They love you. And I won't just let you sacrifice yourself for this family. We will find ways to get everyone into a vampire."
"How many people can you turn?" She asked looking at me.
"Two every 100 years." I told her.
"Then dont change me." She said. "If I live past those other vampire's later on then have little Samantha or someone change me."
"They wont be ready for that for at least a year. And by then my kind would have already gotten you."
"I know." She said.
"Jade lets just figure that out some other day. When we really need to figure that out. Right now we don't need to."
"Okay." She said. "But I would really rather you do that. If it came right down to it."
"And I will not do that." I told her.
I wouldn't let her answer after that. I just walked out of the room. Yea I know it sounds a bit rude but I really didn't want to hear her talk about me leaving her human if it really came down to turning them into my kind.
She fallowed me into the living room to where Samantha and her brothers where watching TV. They where watching one of those kids movies. I really didn't remember the name of the show. I never really did watch those kids shows. Now a days I watched NCIS or CSI or something. Those where movies that I actually got into and really liked them.
"Samantha?" Little Samantha asked. She was staring at me with a worried expression like she knew something was wong.
"Yea little Samantha?" I asked trying not to sound as if something was really wrong.
"What's going to happen to us?" She asked.
"Nothing's going to happen to you." I told her. I meant that too. I wouldn't let anything to happen to them. "I mean that too." I then added.
"Okay, Aunt Samantha." She said coming up to me to hug me.
Later that night When everyone was asleep I went to talk to Victor. He was outside like he had been all day, and he was so quiet. I didn't like him being quiet and not telling what was going on, and what was on his mind. It bothered me.
I stepped outside focused on getting him to answer me. "You better tell me know." I said. "I need to know whats going on."
He just kept facing foward not talking, not even thinking anything. He was just silent all the way through.
"Victor." I said a bit worried. "Please tell me what's wrong."
"Their coming." He said. When he spoke, it was low and I could barely hear what he was saying. It was amost like a whisper, and was very hard to hear. And of course me, I just stared at him slowly getting what he was telling me.
"Our kind." I said slowly. "Their going to get us."
"Most likely." He said. Now he turned around to look at me.
"What are we going to do?" I asked him looking into his eyes.
"We have to figure something out." He said. "They will be here in two days at most. And I think little Samantha already knows that they are coming." He then added.
"How?" I asked.
"I don't know, but I think she does."
"Do you think turning them into vampire's would be safe now?" I asked him.
"We would only be able to change three at most. What about the other two?" He said. "They would be killed by our kind in seconds."
"Change them all." I said.
"But you can only change two, and I can only change one. We would never get away with changeing them all."
"Change one now and have them say they have been a vampire or at least ten years." I told him. "It's a lie, but it's all we've got."
"I know. But maybe we should wait a few days. Maybe they will pass us."
"And if they don't?" I asked.
"I don't know."
Then things became really quiet. We could hear the crickets in the yard chirping, and the fireflies lighting up the sky. Everything was just so beautiful. "I've missed being outside at night." I said randomly to break the silence.
"Me too." Victor said. Then he held out his hand for me. When I took his hand he pulled me down on his lap where I layed against him.
"If we could get them all into vampire's, then I wouldn't want any more family then you." He said in my ear.
I shivered a bit at the feel of his breath against my ear. "I'd say the samething for you, Victor." I told him.
We smiled at eachother for a while before decideing to go inside with everyone else. When we got down stairs, little Samantha was the only one awake. She looked at us when we came down the steps and into the basement. And again she had that worried expression on her face that she had earlier.
"I want you to change me." She said looking up at me. "I'll lie about when I was changed."
Both Victor and I where shocked when she said that. How could she have known that we where talking about that. And for a while we just stared at her, then at eachother. I knew he was thinking the same thing as me, but he wouldn't say it out loud.
"How?" I asked her.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"How did you know what we where talking about outside?" Victor said. "You where asleep."
"I was but then I wasn't." She said.
"Meaning?" Victor asked.
"I was asleep physically, but not mentally. I can hear what people talk about. I don't know how though, I just can."
I looked at Victor when she said that, and mentally told him we would figure that out later. He nodded, as I looked at little Samantha and spoke. "Okay." I said. "But I don't think we are going to change anyone for a while." I then told her.
"If you say so." She said.
"Go to bed little Samantha." I said. "Your going to need it."
"I know Aunt Samantha." She said laying back down in the small bed that we made.
We then fell asleep little Samantha, then Victor and I. He had said two days at most, and one day was already gone and done with. I knew sometime tomorrow they where going to come for us. I just didn't know when it would be. I just knew that they where going to come.
Morning came way to quickly and I was really starting to get scared. If they came I had no idea what to do to stop them from getting to little Samantha and them. They would just be open for anyone to get.
"Everthing's going to be okay." Victor said in my head.
"I hope so." I told him back.
"It will be."
I didn't answer him after that, I just kept quiet.
For over an hour I watched the clock slowly move, waiting for them to come. Two more hours passed and still nothing came. I was wondering now if Victor had been right. Maybe they had passed us, but then the door bell rang and I looked at Victor.
"It's them." Little Samantha said from next to her mother. I really didn't expect her to know if it was them or not, but I guess she did. "We need to hide mom." She then said looking up at her mother.
"Yea." I said agreeing with her. "That would be smart."
Jade then nodded grabbing her daughter as she walked downstairs. Logan fallowed behind her with Jack and Sam behind him. After everyone was gone and out of the room, Victor grabbed some type of perfume and started to spray it in every room even on the basement door. At first I didn't know why he was doing that, but then I remembered the human scent. We had to get rid of that or they would know that we had humans around.
When he was done a few seconds later he looked at me. "Ready?" He asked.
"Yea." I said. And together we both walked to the door.
Victor opened the door and I was just behind him. Little Samantha was right it was them and there was five standing at the door. The one in the front was the tallest and probably the leader of the five. He was about six foot tall with blonde hair, and brown eyes. He was really muscular, and had a tight build. The man behind him was a bit shorter, at about five foot ten, he had brown hair and brown eyes. He was kind of scary looking, unlike the first guy who had a sweet look to him. This guy looked as if he was ready to kill. Next to him was the third guy. This guy was about five foot eight inches with brown hair and black eyes. He looked almost like the other man he stood next to, but his face didn't show anything of wanting to kill someone, he just showed that he was ready for a fight. Not that we wanted any type of fight today. The last two men that were just behind him they were about the same hight of five foot five. They both had black hair, and red eyes. They were the oldest of the group. Most of the time you could tell one of our kinds age by the color of their eyes. The younger they where the lighter the color of their eyes where. The youngest was blue, indicating that they where new vampires. The oldest was red. This showed that they where older and knew more about our kind, also it showed that they where most likely with our government. You never wanted to mess with these guys. They could fight, and when they fight it's usually for blood.
"Hello." The first man said. "We hear that someone has told some humans about our kind around here." He then added.
I just stared at him waiting for what Victor would say. "We don't have any humans around here." He finally answered.
"But we heard that someone here had told." One of the smaller men said in the back. He was trying to find his way through the bigger men but it wasn't happening.
"No one has told anyone around here." I told him from behind Victor.
"Okay." They said at the same time. "I guess were at the wrong place."
The first two started to turn around but the older ones stopped them. "I don't think so." One of them said. "We'd like to ask a few questions."
"Okay." Victor said. "Ask away. But first come inside, and my wife will get you guys something to drink." He then looked at me and said in my head. "Go get the perfume it's on the counter and spray it everywhere in the kitchen and everywhere you walk along the way. We need to hide their scent as best as we can."
"Okay." I said out loud. It kind of answered both things that he had said, so I said it out loud. Then I walked into the kitchen smiling at the five men before I left. When I got into the kitchen I did just what Victor said. I grabbed the perfume on the counter and started to spray it all over the place in the kitchen. Then I went to grab the drinks. When I was done with that I started to spray it as I walked back into the living room.
When I got back into the living room I set the drinks on the table infront of the couch, and sat next to Victor. He smiled at me, then turned back to the five men. The men asked everey question that they could think of, and still never got anything out of us. I answered a few questions but most of the time it was Victor that answered them. And after about half an hour to an hour they they got up to leave. Saying sorry to us as the left the house. We told them that it was okay and we understood, and watched them walk to their car. After they were gone and out of sight Victor closed the door and kissed me.
"We did it." He said breaking away after about two minutes. I was still a bit dazed from his kiss, and everything in the room was a bit blury but I was okay.
"Yea we did." I said. Then I walked to the basement door and opened it to find little Samantha at the bottom of the steps. She had a big smile on her face, as she ran up the stairs to give me a hug.
"They believed you." She said happily.
"Yea, they did Samantha." I told her holding her in my arms as he father and mother came up the stairs fallowed by the two sons. They all looked a bit happy, but then again they all had the same expression on their face. One I really didn't like.
"Whats wrong?" I asked looking at Jade.
"We can talk about it later." She said. "First I want to eat, then go to bed. Im tired as heck, and really need to get some sleep." She then took little Samantha out of my arms and walked her to the kitchen.
"Okay." I said, a bit upset. But I understood. They just went through a pretty bad day. Almost got cought and that would have been real trouble for all of us. I fallowed them into the kitchen where everyone went and got something to eat and then went back down stairs to the basement to go to bed. It was very quiet that night though. But we got used to it. Everyone fell asleep withen at least ten minutes of the night, guess everyone was really tired. Even when they really didn't do much but hide. But that was still work I guess. If you look at it, they had to be very quiet and or barely whisper. But what I really wanted to know was what they were keeping from us.
"We will find out tomorrow." Victor said in my head. "Go to sleep. From the looks of their face we might need it."
"Okay." I said. Then I fell asleep.
The next day when I woke up little Samantha staring at me from her bed. She was the only one left downstairs. Her face was questioning, but I didn't know what to say to her, so I just stared at her.
"Can you?" She whispered.
I knew what she was talking about with those few words but I just couldn't do it. Not to her. So I did the only thing I could. "I can't." I lied.
"You can." She said. She knew my lie like no one else, I still didn't know how she could figure it out. No one else could except Victor. But little Samantha did, and she didn't like that I had lied to her.
"No, little Samantha." I started. "I can't, I won't. Not to you, and not unless I really need to. And I don't need to."
"But, I want you too."
"And what about you're mother, and father?" I asked. "What would they think about me doing that to you?"
"I don't know." She said.
"They would be sad, and we would have to keep you away from the rest of you're family." I told her. "Would you want that?"
"No." She said. "I wouldn't."
"Then you don't want me to change you. Not now."
"But..." She started.
"No." I interrupted her getting up and starting up the stairs only to turn around to look at her. "You coming up?" I asked.
"Yea." Little Samantha said getting up off her bed, walking up past me.
When we got upstairs Jade was on the couch watching TV with Logan and Victor. The two boys where playing a board game. Victor was the first to notice me but then again he always was, he could read my thoughts and know what I was doing or saying at any time.
"Morning Samantha, and little Samantha." Victor said with a smile.
"Morning Victor." I said, while little Samantha said. "Morning Uncle Victor." Guess she thought of him as her Uncle now more then someone just protecting her from my kind.
That's when Jade noticed me. She got up from her chair next to Logan and walked over to me. Logan let her leave, he knew what she was going to say. "Can we talk?" She asked. I nodded, and she walked toward the kitchen, with me following her.
"What's wrong Jade?" I asked, after we got to the kitchen.
"I hate putting you guys in trouble. Risking you're lives to just keep us safe ours, when you both know you could just end it by changing us now." She said. She wasn't facing me when she spoke. She was facing the wall and was only whispering.
"I'm not to worried about putting my life at risk." I told her. "That doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that there are five humans that know about me, and my kind and my kind is after them because of me. That's what bothers me. I broke my own law, and now you guys are suffering for it."
"But it does bother Logan and I." She said. "I just don't want you two to risk you're lives so much to protect us. It was our fault that we had found out not you're fault."
"We were the one's that told you." I reminded her. "We were the one's that broke our kinds law, and because of that you guys are the one's that are suffering."
"But it's more our fault." She said turning around to face me. "I don't know how little Samantha ever found out about you, but she did. And now we know and now we are getting paid back for it. It had nothing to do with you two. We just asked you to make sure it was true, and that our daughter wasn't a physco path."
"Victor and I don't know how she found out either but she did and you can't just change that." I told her.
"I know, but you can end it by just taking us now, changing us into your kind. It would be so much easier." She told me.
"Little Samantha tried to give me the same thing five minutes ago." I said. "She wanted me to change her too but there's more problems then just changing into a vampire. Try changing your diet from food that you normally eat to blood of animals or humans. Humans probably being the worse."
"I don't know how hard it is for you, but I know that we just don't want you to risk you're lives anymore for us." She said.
"It's really hard for us. As much as we want to, we just can't. It's just not in us to actually take you're lives from you." I told her.
"But you wouldn't be taking our lives from us."
"Actually we would be taking you're lives from you. Turning you into a vampire is taking you're life. You would never be the same." I said, and again I turned away from her. Somethings just popped in my head about what I had to do every few years. So I just started to say them out loud. "Running away every few years and pretending that some new child was born while you were gone in Spain, or France or something. Then to come back and change your name and hair. That's my life now. That's what I have to do every few years now to keep humans from asking questions about who I really am."
"That seems kind of hard, but it can't be that hard, could it?" She asked.
"It is pretty hard. If someone starts to ask questions about who you really are, the only thing you can actually do is get rid of them by killing them or turning them into a vampire." I said. "Or you could just let the elder vampire's get them."
"Oh.. Well I really don't like the last one or the first one." She said.
"Well those are the two main one's that my kind does because each vampire can only change two humans every 100 years. Otherwise it's just not wise. And could be very bad."
"Oh." Was all she said.
"Yea. But some of our kinds worse then others. Some actually take revenge and start to kill other humans for no reason because they wish they could go back to one. We usually get rid of those one's." I told her.
"Well that's a good thing." Jade said.
"Yea it usually is. But sometimes it's not." I told her. "Sometimes the vampire that changed him/her take revenge."
"Oh." She said. "And what do they do?" She then asked.
"War." I told her simply. Easiest way to tell her what they would do. That word could send a bunch of things in someone's mind.
"Oh, well that's not a good thing." She said.
"No it's not."
Then things got quiet for a while before Victor came in the room.
"We could change you when ever you want." He said. "But right now, it's just not a good idea. Not when Samantha and I haven't fed in over four months."
"Okay." Jade said. "Could you at least change us before something really goes wrong?" She then asked.
"Yea, we could." I said before Victor could speak.
"Okay." She said then she left the kitchen and went back to sitting next to Logan. I think she was talking to him. Probably telling him what I had just said, but I was okay with that.
"When are we going to change them?" I then asked Victor looking up at him.
"When ever you want." He said, "But like I said to her, we would have to feed first or it would be really trouble for us."
"I know." I told him.
Then the both of us left the kitchen and met up with Logan and Jade who were watching TV. I think they were watching NCIS.
At about eight p.m we had dinner. Something simple like grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. And after dinner we went back to watching TV. It was a good night, but I knew soon that they would want to be changed, to end all this madness of my kind. And to stop hiding from everyone. But one thing that they didn't know was that after they were changed they would want to hide from humans, or it would be a big problem for everyone. For humans and vampires alike.
At nine we went to bed. I was laying next to Victor like I always was, and next to me to my left was Jade and Logan, and next to them where their three kids all closest to the wall. The safest from anyone and everyone if anything ever happened. And before I even had a chance to say anything I fell asleep. I knew tomorrow was going to be a problem, but every day was a problem when you were a vampire. It was just how thing's were for my kind.
A few weeks went by and everything was great as if nothing would ever happen and as if I would never have to take someone's life from them. But when I woke up on the date of December tenth things took a turn for the worst. Not only had Victor and I not fed in over five months today, but now there where ten other vampire's at my door and they did not look happy.
The men on my front pourch looked as if they were about ready to break down the door, but they didn't. Jade and them went down in the basement, with food and water and everything they could need. We also left them with perfume, to hide their scent. We had no idea when these vampire's would leave so we had to give them all we could. We then sprayed down everything in the house. The kitchen, living room, everything we sprayed down. Just to hide the humans we were protecting.
And after everything was done we went to answer the door. "Hello." Victor said happily.
They walked in the house without saying a word, and took a seat on the couch. A few of the men went around smelling everything they could like a dog before they took a seat in one of the chairs. I thought it was kind of weird but I didn't say that out loud.
"Yea, we need to talk." One of the men said. He was one of the men from the first time. The tall six foot guy, with blonde hair and brown eyes. The muscular one. He was a bit upset when we spoke.
"What about?" I asked.
"The human's you're hiding." He said.
"We don't know what you're talking about." Victor and I said at the same time.
"Yea, you do." He said. "And...." Then he stopped and looked at one of his men who nodded at him. "We want to help. Were tired of the vampire laws, and we can't take it anymore." He had a serious expression on his face when he said those words.
That shocked me more then it shocked Victor. I mean it must of shocked him but he wouldn't show it. I looked at Victor and he stared back at me. "I don't trust them." He said in my head. I nodded. I really didn't trust them either. Why should I? I mean really they have worked for our government for well over 300 hundred years, and they all knew the laws. They where the one's that would never break a law not even for a human.
"Yea, okay." Victor said. Though really I knew that he was just trying to get something out of them. Maybe information on the real reason to why they said they wanted to help.
But they wouldn't let anything out. As if they were being careful to what they wanted to say to us. "We mean what we say Victor and Samantha. The government's been taking over everyone and all of us here are tired of it." He then pointed to the nine men around him, three of which where still looking around the house.
"He's lying." I heard someone say. I had no idea where it had come from but someone had said it. I looked at Victor to see if it was him and he looked at me as if questioning if it was me. But I shook my head as if telling him that it was not me.
"Who's this?" Victor asked the person. I could hear him from the fact that this person was also in my head. Plus he was letting me hear what he was saying.
"Little Samantha." The person said. "Geez Uncle can you not even tell your own niece from other people." She then said. I laughed a little mentally at that but continued to stare at the men blankly.
"How do you know they are lying?" Victor then asked. While I asked the men "What has the government done this time?" I had to keep some type of conversation going to make it look as if we were talking to them and not to someone else. Though we were.
"I don't know, I just have this feeling that they are." Little Samantha said in our heads. And at the same time she said that the man said "Everything. They want to kill every human now."
"And that's a lie there." Little Samantha then said.
"Okay." Victor said back to her, then he went back to staring at the men he said, "I think you should leave."
"But..." The tall man said. "We want to help."
"And we want to think." I told him before Victor could say anything more.
"Okay." They said standing up. "We will leave." Then he started to walk toward the door the other nine men following him.
But before they actually left the house the last man turned around and said "We will get them and when we do we will kill you and them all at the same time. I don't care how much you try to protect them we will get to them." And then he left closing the door behind him. 'Thanks for giving yourselfs up,' I thought tomyself when he left.
Victor and I just stared at each other for about five minutes before we actually said anything and or moved.
"We have to change them now." Victor said. "Before it's to late."
"I know." I told him.
And at that moment Jade and them came up the stairs. Little Samantha was asleep in Jade's arms, and Logan was behind her just in case she couldn't hold the young child up.
"Sorry she kind of fell asleep." Jade said. "I don't know why."
"We do." Victor said.
"Well then would you explain to us. She just fell asleep on her bed at around the time they left." Jade said.
"Well that would be because she was talking to us." I said. "Guess that tired her out. Just let her sleep."
"Okay." Jade said laying little Samantha on the couch.
"So what's going to happen now?" Logan asked.
"Well I guess we're ganna have to change you guys into a vampire soon." Victor said. "Before it's to late and they decide to come back with more vampire's."
"Okay." Logan said. "But when?" He then asked walking toward Jade and wrapping his arm's around her.
"In the next few day's." I told him.
"Yea." Victor agreed. "After we feed." He then added.
For the next few hours everything was quiet until little Samantha woke up. When she did she started to ask questions. Mostly about what being a vampire was like.
Then later that night little Samantha asked. "How long are we going to be asleep when you start to change us?"
"Well after we bite you, it takes a full week to actually turn into a vampire. You will be asleep for at least a week, and when you guys wake up we will take you out for your first hunt." I told her.
"Oh. But that seems a bit long." She said.
"It is long, but it takes that long to actually turn into a vampire. And when you do wake up you will be really hungry."
"Well I would guess that." She said.
"Okay." I said. Then things got quiet, until I asked, "How did you talk to us?"
"I don't know." She said. "But it really tired me out."
"Okay." I said. "And how did you know that they where lying?" I asked her next even though she had tried to answer that question before.
"I knew from the way they said it. They looked at one another as if they were debating on weather or not to say something. And half of the men where looking around." She said. "Plus just the vibe of that one vampire. It was as if he was hiding something but didn't want anyone to know what it was that he was hiding."
"Vibe?" I asked questioning. "I didn't feel anything."
"Yea, because you're a vampire. You're used to it and you just don't notice when someone is trying to hide something from you." She said. Then she looked at her mother. "If they found us mom, they were ganna kill us."
"I know." Her mother said.
"Yea, but it wouldn't be pretty." She then added. And within seconds I had seen what she was talking about. It was more then just a small thing. It was like a war.
"War two." I said softly looking at Victor. He was looking back at me pale skinned from what he had seen.
"They want to start another war. But this one would be worse then any war anyone has ever seen. Worse then the first war you were in Victor. This war they want to start to kill all humans so they become the main race."
"You said it was a lie, though. That they didn't want to kill humans." I said.
"I know. Some of it was a lie, but the rest wasn't." She said. "They want this planet for themselves. Everyone working for the government does."
I looked at Victor then wondering what he was thinking. If anyone was coming up with a plan it was Victor. But he didn't look as if he had anything on his mind. So I asked him. "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know." He said looking at me. This was the truth I could see that. He had no idea what to do. No one could go against the vampire government or they would be killed. "We can talk about this later." He then said headed toward the basement door.
We all followed him down the stairs to where everyone went to bed.. I was sure everyone was thinking about what would happen, and how everything would be. I was afraid about everything. What would happen to them? Would they turn against their old kind, or not? I was afraid about everything, but I knew that tomorrow I was going to have to turn them and as much as I didn't want to, it had to be done.
I was cuddled up next to Victor when I went to sleep that night. Victor had kissed me good night. It wasn't anything really just a peck on the lips, a shy kiss more like it, but we did have young one's around so I really didn't blame him. Soon after I fell asleep.
The next day little Samantha woke me up. All she talked about was me turning her into a vampire and that she wanted me to be the one to turn her not Uncle Victor. I really had no idea what to tell her. We never talked about who was going to turn who yet. Main reason was because we never talked about when we were actually going to turn them into a vampire. It was something that Victor and I really didn't want to do.
"We never even talked about it." I told her. "We haven't even said anything about it. We know we have to but we don't really want to change you yet."
"But I want you to change me." She cried. She was a bit upset, she really wanted to know what it was like to be a vampire, but I don't think she really knew how it felt.
"No, little Samantha." I told her. "Victor and I still have to talk about everything. Might not change you for at least three days for all we know."
But.." She whimpered. Her bottom lip was out, and she was quivering it for effect. It was cute, but it made me feel bad. I was a sucker for the lip, and even my brother knew that but he hasn't used that on me since we were little kids.
"Samantha..." I said looking away from her. I couldn't look at her not with her quivering lip. I would give in to what she wanted. "Stop." I then told her.
"Okay, Fine." She said sadly. Then she walked away.
The next time I seen her she was talking to Victor. I didn't know what about but from what I could see it was probably about changing them into a vampire. She was persistent and would do anything to get what she wanted, and what she wanted was to be a vampire.
"Maybe we should do this now." Victor said in my head as I just stared at him. At first I was thinking about telling him no. I wasn't ready to turn her into a vampire. I wasn't ready to turn anyone into a vampire yet.
"But what about feeding?" I asked him.
"Probably should go now." He said. "So we could turn them possibly tomorrow, and have a whole week to our self."
"Okay." I told him in my head.
Then both of us looked at little Samantha, I didn't want to be the one that spoke so I let Victor do that. "Okay." He said. We will change you tomorrow, after we have both fed Samantha will go out tonight and I will go out tomorrow morning when she gets back." Samantha was jumping in joy. She was happy that she had gotten what she wanted. She then took off running to go tell her father and mother the news.
"We might end up regretting this." I told Victor.
"I know." He said.
A few minutes past then we heard Jade and them talking. They seemed pretty happy about what little Samantha had just told them. And when they came out of the kitchen they even showed their happiness by hugging Victor and I. They hugged us tightly and it felt as if I might have thrown up my insides. But they finally let go.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you." She Said happily. She was practically jumping up and down as she spoke.
"Jade calm down." I told her grabbing onto her shoulders so she would stop jumping in excitement.
"Sorry." She said as she stopped jumping. "Just happy."
"I can see that."
I then looked at Logan who was just smiling. He was going to be able to be with his sister again, and he would never lose her. I knew he liked that, and I knew that I would too. But I was always going to regret taking his life from him.
"I guess I'm ganna have to go feed in a little while." I said.
"Yea, But you don't have to go right now." Victor said. "If you don't want to."
"I know." I said. "I'll wait a bit longer before leaving."
"Okay." He said with a smile.
For the rest of the day no one really said anything. It was just quiet. I was thinking, and so was Victor. Samantha was to busy jumping up and down in excitement from the fact that she would become a vampire in the next week, and Jade and Logan where just talking. The two boys where probably the only ones that didn't care about becoming a vampire. It was really nothing to them, just the only thing that could actually save their lives.
"Who's ganna change who?" Victor said in my head.
"I don't know." I told him back. "You could change the boys. If you want."
"But what about Logan. I'm pretty sure he would want you to change him." He then said. He had a point there. I was pretty sure that my brother would want me to change him.
"True." I said. "I also know that little Samantha wants me to change her." I then said afterwards.
"So what are we going to do?" He asked.
"I'll take little Samantha, Logan and Jade." I told him. "You can take the two boys."
"Okay." He said. "You think you can take them all?" He then asked.
"Yea." I told him. "I can. I'll be fine."
From then things got really quiet. He stopped talking to me in my head. Hours passed and it started to feel like time was going slower, I hated the feeling and really wanted to talk to someone. But no one wanted to talk to me. So at about 8:30 at night I decided that I would go out hunting.
"I'm leaving." I told everyone. "I'll be back at around 9:30 p.m."
"Okay." Jade and Logan said as little Samantha came running up to hug me.
"Soon I'll be able to join you." She said.
"Yea, soon you will." I told her with a smile. Then I bent down to gently kiss her forehead before turning to Victor.
He was next to me waiting until I had let go of little Samantha. When I did he hugged me good bye and told me to be safe. Then he kissed me on the forehead before he kissed my lips. I kissed him back and told him I would be safe. He then smiled at me sending me a small message in my head. It read 'I love you. I'll miss you until you get back.' I smiled up at him sending something back to him. It read 'I love you too, and I'll miss you too,' after that it said 'In a few days we will have our own time to do what every we wanted. I want that time to come now, but I know we will have to wait.' He smiled and said "Yea," out loud then let me go. But before he did let me go he gave me another kiss on the lips followed by one on the forehead. Then I left to go hunting.
When I got back it was pasted 9:30. I'd probably end up hearing from Victor about being late., but it was worth it. I walked into the door at about 12:40 and look who it was that was waiting on the couch. If you guessed Victor then you were right.
Victor was sitting on the couch looking at the clock as if it was moving to fast. He had this worried expression on his face. And when he noticed me that expression on his face turned into a bit of anger hidden by being worried more. He hopped off the couch and walked over toward me taking me in his arms. "You said you where going to be home by 9:30." He said in my ear.
"I know. I'm sorry." I said. "I just lost track of time."
"I was so worried." He then said as if he hadn't even hear what I had just told him. I hugged him then holding his warm body close to mine.
"I'm sorry." I said.
"It's okay." He said. "Just don't do it again." Now he was acting like a parent and it was a bit odd, but also a bit funny.
We stood their hugging each other for a few minutes before I pulled away to ask him a question. "How long have you been watching that clock?"
"Well over two hours." Logan said as he walked out of the kitchen. He was holding a piece of cake in one hand and Jade's hand with the other. Little Samantha was behind him and she was smiling. As if she knew something she wasn't about ready to tell me.
"And what might be on your mind?" I asked her as I walked over to her.
"Well... She started and looked over at Victor in fear that he would get mad. But when he didn't say anything she continued. "He had fell asleep sometime during the two hours and well I swear you could hear him talking. saying 'Samantha, where are you?' and 'Please be okay.' Over and over again." I then looked at Victor and I could swear that he was blushing. I hugged him, and he kissed my forehead for the second time that day.
"I think I might just go to bed." I said as I pulled away from Victor.
He just stared at me at first before saying "I'll join you." Then he looked at Jade and them and said "You guys can stay up if you want to."
They both smiled taking that hint that we wanted to spend some time alone, just the two of us. So they ended up saying that they would come down at about 1:30 a.m. Little Samantha said she wanted to come down with us, but Jade told her no.
At that the both of us walked away headed down the stares to the basement. We laid on our bed cuddled up next to each other Victor was kissing me over and over again on the lips and cheek. I kisses him back, but when he started to get a bit more physical I told him that we couldn't just do that now, not with people up stairs. He was a bit upset when I told him that, but so was I. I just wanted to spend some time with him.
"We could do this tomorrow night." I told him. "When their knocked out like a lamp from the venom."
He smiled even though he was still a bit upset, but said "Okay." and cuddled up next to me again.
A few minutes later we fell asleep and neither of us had noticed when Jade and them came down stairs taking their beds beside us and closet to the wall, they fell asleep.
. . . Victor
The next morning when I had waken up I noticed that Samantha was not there in the bed with me. "She must be upstairs." I said to myself as I got up to head up the stairs.
Just as I thought Samantha was upstairs with Jade and Logan. They where talking and smiling. Then Logan hugged Samantha and told her thanks. I really didn't know why he had hugged her but it must have been for something that she had done. I walked over toward them smiling, and hugged Samantha from behind. She had smiled as she looked up at me to plant a kiss on my lips. Still had a the taste of blood on her lips. And smelled like candy.
Samantha was talking to Jade and little Samantha, while the two boys where playing a board game and Logan was watching a football game. I didn't know what one he was watching, I had never watched football. It meant nothing to me really.
Little Samantha had noticed me as I walked up the stairs but Samantha had not. I wondered if everything was okay, but it had to be alright, right?
I smiled at little Samantha as I walked toward Samantha and hugged from behind then kissed her neck. She smiled before turning around to kiss my lips. "Morning babe." She said.
I smiled back. "Morning."
"And how did you sleep?" She then asked me.
"I slept well, thanks." I said. "You?"
"Pretty good actually."
"That's good." I told her.
"Yea." She said then she turned around back to little Samantha.
I stayed in their little conversation. Little Samantha had asked when we were going to change them, and Samantha had told her that they would do it soon, just had to wait for Victor to feed on sometime later on today. Then little Samantha looked at me, she had this expression on her face. Her lip was out and she looked as if she was about ready to cry. I started to feel bad but then someone said something to me in my head.
"Don't fall for it." Samantha said. "She's been trying that all day."
I laughed mentally at that but knew what she meant. I looked away from little Samantha telling her 'Not yet.' Then I walked away and sat next to Logan.
"Who's winning?" I asked him.
"Cowboys.' He said.
"Oh." I said to him.
"Yea." He said.
Then things got quiet. I really started to get into the game, and was starting to actually like it. The men on the two teams where really fast and really good players, and I wondered what it was like to be a football player. But I really didn't want to find out in a way, not with some of the injuries that some of these men got during the game.
The game ended at about five p.m. and by that time everyone wanted to eat including me. And I'm not talking about food eating I mean blood eating. Samantha looked at me knowing what I was thinking. She shook her head then pointed to the door, telling me to go hunt. I just shook my head. I wasn't ready to go out yet. Not in the middle of the day.
"Go.." She then said because I had told her no. She really wanted me to go so I didn't lose myself and attack one of these humans. Then I thought. 'Human blood. Best damn stuff I ever had.' I then thought about attacking Jade and them but Samantha was there to stop me. She walked up to me and grabbed my shoulders pushing me toward the door. "Leave... Now..." She said with more force this time as she kept pushing me toward the door.
I really couldn't do much but be pushed toward the door. And when we got there she opened it pushing me past the door, and closing the door in my face.
"Leave." She said again this time in my head. "And don't come back until you have actually fed."
I sighed and said. "Fine." As I walked away from the house.
I went hunting for about two hours or so, I never did keep track of the time. But when I got back Samantha was sitting on the pouch waiting. When she seen me she smiled and stood up.
"About time you get back." She said.
"Sorry." I said. "lost track of time." I then added using her excuse.
"Right, okay." She said as she started to walk into the house.
. . . Samantha
When Victor and I got into the house, little Samantha came running up to us screaming "When are you ganna change us?"
"In a little bit." I told her. "You just have to wait until we get everything set up."
"Fine." She said as she walked away.
I looked at Victor then waiting for something he would say but he didn't say anything. He was just quiet.
"Guess we should go get things set up in the basement." I said to him.
"Yea, I guess so." He said as he walked toward the basement.
He opened the door for me and let me lead as we went down the steps. We started to make a spot for them in a small room on the other side of the basement. In this room we put five pillows, and tons of blankets to keep them warm while they changed into a vampire. They really didn't need the blankets but it would be nice to have them because they might feel a bit cold when they wake up.
When that was done we went back upstairs and called everyone into the living room. They all followed one by one after little Samantha came running in. You could tell that little Samantha was excited, and that she really wanted this to happen. I really didn't know why. Being a vampire was like a curse to me watching everyone die in front of you. I've watched at least five of my friends at sixteen die. They would have only been swenty-six but some of them got into a car accident or got really ill. I missed most of them, it was sad how they had died.
They all ended up sitting on the couch as Victor talked. He said that we would take at most two people at a time with us. One for each person then before they fell asleep from the bite we would put them in a room where they could rest and not be disturbed. From there they would rest for a week until they wake up, and when they did we would take them hunting for the first time. They all nodded as he spoke.
When Victor was done telling them how everything was going to happen he told Jack that he could go first if he wanted. Jack said he would then he fallowed Victor down the steps of the basement. I on the other hand was having trouble picking who I would chose. I didn't know if I would pick little Samantha or Jade first. Logan had already told me that he wanted to be last, and even though Jade said that she wanted to be last I took my brothers word. Then after about five minutes or so I picked little Samantha. She followed me down into the basement to where Victor was.
He was talking to Jack and telling him about how it would feel. I did the same with little Samantha. But it was harder with her. She really just didn't care about how it felt she just wanted me to change her then.
We brought them down in the basement and told them all we could about what it would be like, then after we bit into them we brought them to the back room where we layed them down to rest, and went up to get the next group, doing the same thing.
Finally, after about half an hour all that was left was Logan. I brought him downstairs and we talked a bit then I bit him too just like I had little Samantha and Jade, and when he started to fall asleep I brought him to lay next to his wife, Jade.
After I got them all settled in Victor and I both went to bed, where we slept soundly the rest of the night.
On our second day alone we went shopping. We went to find some dresses that would be nice to wear to Spain as a family thing. No one would age anymore, they were stuck the same age forever. Little Samantha was the first person we went shopping for. We found her some really cute clothes. There was a beautiful black dress with frilly sleeves and a black see through cape. It also had a dragon printing on it. I didn't know if she liked dragons or not but I really thought that the dress was beautiful. We also bought her some knew clothing, pretty much a new wardrobe. The next person we shopped for was Jade and I. I first went to the dresses where I found two nice long dresses. They where both sleeveless that were light and dark green. I really didn't need the dress but I really liked it. I also got her knew jeans and shirts. Again a new wardrobe.
After them we shopped for was the boys. I really didn't know much about them so I just picked some clothing out for them. We also picked out two different tuxes. Then we went to look for things for Logan and Victor. We got both of them a nice tuxedo, and then we got Logan new clothing all together. We really didn't need to get them a new wardrobe but we really thought that we should get them something after they woke up. And the first thing that we wanted to do was give them their first hunt. Then we would take them to Spain for a few weeks. If they could last going near humans that was.
After shopping Victor said that he had a surprise for me. And he wanted me to wear the new dress that I had bought that night for myself. So we went home and I put on the dress. Victor had put on the tuxedo then he took me to the car. At first he told me to close my eyes but I told him that it wouldn't help with the fact that I could watch where we where going through his eyes. So he just gave up on that.
He then started the car and soon we where on the road headed into town yet again, but this time instead of going to a store or something he brought me to a restaurant.
He had opened the door for me and we both walked into the restaurant. It was nice, really beautiful with candles all over the place. It was really quiet romantic. I looked at Victor in shock but he just smiled and brought me to the front desk where he told them his name and they brought us to a small table for two. This table was in a secluded spot, with candles on the table and around the room. There was also a vase of flowers in the middle of the table. Victor smiled down at me before he brought me to the table, he ordered a bottle or red wine, and another to go. 'Wonder why?' I thought. Guess I'd find out later.
The waiter nodded at him before walking away to get the wine, and when he did Victor took a sip of some then said it was okay. Then we both ordered our food. I ordered buttered shrimp, and a lobster tail with a side of mini shrimp. Victor ordered the lobster tail with buttered shrimp and a side of potatoes. Then the waiter left again saying that the food would be ready in a few minutes. Victor said thank you then stared at me.
He wouldn't say anything to me until the waiter had left the room to go get our food, then he started to speak. "A whole week by ourselves." He started. "Sounds pretty good."
"Yea." I said not looking at him. "What are we going to do for the whole week of not even having to watch humans?" I then asked.
"Well I could think of a few things that we could do." He said flashing me pictures of that night we where alone in the basement.
I smiled at him and nodded my head. "That's one thing." I said.
"Yea, it is but only if you really want to. I don't want to force you to do something you don't want to do."
"Thanks." I said.
Then things got quiet. He just stared at me but I could see his hand moving into his pocket to grab something but he never took it out of his pocket.
"Is there something else you want to say?" I asked him.
"Yea, there is." He said, "but I don't think now is a good time." And at that moment the waiter came back in with our food. At first I just stared at Victor trying to figure out what it was that he wanted to tell me, but even trying to get into his head to find it didn't work. He blocked everything from me. Even what was in his pocket.
I looked up at the waiter and said 'thank you' as she placed the food in front of me, then she placed the second one in front of Victor. He said 'thank you' then she began to walk away from us and out of the room.
"So you where saying?" I asked him wondering what he would say.
"Not right now." He said.
And for the rest of the date we ate in silence. No one spoke, and it was just completely silent, but then a man came into the room and bent down next to Victor whispering something in his ear. I wish I could actually hear what he was saying to him. Victor nodded and said 'thanks' before the young man left the room.
"What was that about?" I asked him.
"You will find out in a little bit." He said with a smile on his face, and he continued eating in till all the food on the plate was gone. I did the same.
After everything on our plates where gone Victor took my hand and lead me to the back of the restaurant into another small room that had a door leading to the back of the whole place. He led me to that door too, and opened the door slowly letting me in first.
When I got into the room it was breath taking. The place was beautiful. There where flowers all over the place like a green house or a garden, and there was a small swing in the middle under a nice white gazebo. Next to the gazebo there was a small pond, and in the pond where a few birds, like ducks and swans. The place itself was under its own green house but there was a small hole toward the back of the whole place so it didn't get to hot in the room.
Victor led me to the gazebo where we sat on the swing. For a little while I didn't speak, I never really wanted to say anything. This place was to nice and I didn't want to ruin the moment of actually being there.
But then Victor broke the silence by saying something along the lines of "I wanted to ask you something in there but I knew it wasn't the right time. But here, in this room it is a good time." Then he began to slide off the swing and got down on one knee.
In shock from what he was doing I moved my hands to my mouth whispering "Victor, you can't be." He just smiled as he pulled out the small box from his pocket.
"Will you marry me.?" He asked me as he opened the box to a beautiful ring. The ring had five diamonds, one big one in the middle of the other four. The other four where small white ones and they made the ring look nicer. It looked really beautiful, and I really had no idea what to say. I just started to cry happily at the shock I was feeling. I had never thought someone would ask me to marry them not now not ever. I always thought that I would be alone forever and that there was nothing or anyone in this world that could fix it. But I guess I was wrong, because there was someone in this world for me, and he was down on one knee before me asking me to marry him.
Yes." I said still crying a bit from what I was feeling. He smiled as he took out the ring and slid it on my ring finger, then he got back up and kissed my lips.
Again he sat next to me on the swing, and he held me close to him, rocking it back and forth for a while. No one said anything to anyone, and no one really wanted to say anything.
After about half an hour in the room Victor got up and we started to walk back toward the front of the building. It was nice this room and I really didn't want to leave but I knew that I had to leave and I knew that it would be nice to get out of the place for a little while.
Victor brought me to the front desk where he paid the man at the counter then we left the restaurant. He drove us home pretty slow. The whole day we had spent time with each other and away from the soon to be vampires in our house. And that felt good. In a few days we would be like parents, trying to take care of these new vampires and teach them all the laws. We also had to teach them not to attack humans so much because we didn't want to lose our most prized possession, and the most perfect type of blood.
When we got back to the house we went to check on them. We wanted to make sure that no one had gone into the basement while we where gone. I opened the door to the back room when I got there and seen that there where still five bodies in the room. Five bodies sounds like we had done a crime. Then again we did but it wasn't a major one, we never killed anyone, just turned them into monsters. Though that was still a crime in my kind. From the fact that we had five bodies and we should only have at least three bodies.
But we didn't really care about that. If the government wanted to get back at us for turning five humans then so be it. They could, but they couldn't bother these humans. I wouldn't let them. After checking on them I closed the door and went back up the stairs to where Victor was. He was watching TV but I had no idea what he was watching.
I sat next to him and he wrapped his arms around me pulling me close to him.
"How are they?" He asked.
"Their good, sleeping," At that I smiled, of course they where sleeping we had just turned them into vampires two nights ago. They still had 5 days left before they woke up. We then began to watch the rest of the movie.
I was kind of getting into the movie when I felt Victor's teeth go into my neck, and soon after I was out and I knew that Victor had carried me down the steps with him, and fell asleep next to me. Wonder how? We had a connection, simple as that.
When I woke up the next day I slowly started to remember everything that happened. Victor bitting my neck, and me falling asleep where he carried me downstairs to the beds in the basement. I didn't even notice that Victor was standing by the door until he laughed a bit.
I looked over at him, as he spoke, "I have something for you." He said.
"What is it?" I asked him.
"I made food." He said with a smile.
"You made food?" I asked in shock.
"Yes, I did." He said. "But you have to come down stairs to eat it."
"Okay." I said getting out of bed.
He followed me all the way down the stairs and to the kitchen to where there was tons of food on the table. There was muffins, pancakes, bacon, eggs, orange juice, toast and something else that was red in some cups. I couldn't smell what it was, but then again he had everything else around the room that was blocking the smell.
"I have everything I could possibly think of on the table." Victor said from behind me. "Also a bit extra." He said grabbing one of the cups with the red liquid in it. He then handed it to me saying "Drink. you will like it."
I grabbed the cup from him and slowly put it to my lips taking a sip of it. "Blood." I said looking up at him drinking the rest of the cup without even taking a breath. "Where did you get it?" I then asked putting the cup on the table and looking around for more of the warm red liquid that was known as blood.
"I went hunting this morning." He said. "But I mostly went out to get the blood to save up for little Samantha and them when they wake up. I also just figured that we could take some for our self's for the moment. I think there's enough in the fridge for them as it is." He then said as he walked over to the fridge and opened it.
In the fridge there was almost twenty bottles of the red liquid in wine bottles. You could feel the heat of the red liquid and the burning in my throat only intensified. I looked away from the fridge only because I was so tempted to charge and grab one of the bottles. But I knew that would be wrong.
"We can have one of them." Victor said taking one of the bottles out and putting it on the table. He then closed the door and looked at me.
"But what about Logan and them?" I asked turning around to look at him.
"There's twenty-five bottles of blood in there." He said. "I think they have enough."
"Twenty-five bottles." I said. "How did you get that many wine bottles?" I then asked.
"Going to that restaurant from last night, and to some stores. I put the wine in soda bottles so we could kind of hide the smell of the blood in the wine bottles." He said. "I knew that it would have been hard to actually keep from drinking it if you could smell it through the fridge door."
"Yea, it would be." I said agreeing with him.
"Well you want to eat and share this bottle of blood with me?" He asked with a smile.
I smiled back at him before speaking. "I'd love to." Then I took a seat at the table while Victor went to get two cups.
When he came back to the table he set the two cups down and started to slowly pour the thick blood in them then he passed one to me and put the other by his plate and took a seat next to me.
"You can grab anything you want." He said with a smile.
"okay." I said going for the bacon and some pancakes, and toast. Victor did the same but also grabbed a muffin with his food.
We then began to eat in silence, and every so often I took a drink of the blood only to feel like drinking the rest of it, but I stopped myself from doing so.
After breakfast we went to watch TV. The movie was pretty good.
At about 5:00 p.m. we went out to eat. Again Victor wanted to take me to the same restaurant where he had proposed to me. We had a good time there, and after we had eaten Victor said he had a surprise for me but it was across the other side of the town and over the mountains. So that was where we headed at about 5:30.
When we got to the place and he took out the bottle of wine from the first time we went to the restaurant and started to pour two glasses for him and I.
"What are we doing here?" I asked him.
"Well I thought we could watch the sun set this one time before becoming parents of five new vampires." He told me. "Plus this bottle of wine would be good to use after we finish the bottle for more blood tomorrow." He then offered me one of the cups.
"Oh..." I said smiling and taking one of the cups from his hand. "How many bottles do we have now? I know we went to get more yesterday night and the night before you had went to get some while I stayed home."
"We have at least sixty-eight bottles of blood now in the fridge. This should be enough for when they wake up. Everyone of them would get ten bottles of blood and we would get eight bottles to share so really we would end up with four. Then the next day we would take them out for there first hunt." He said to me. I nodded understanding. "This would also teach them that they have to hunt on their own and without help."
"Okay." I said taking a sip of the red wine.
Victor did the same before speaking again. "And I also think that we will have to leave New Orleans."
"Why?" I asked looking up at him.
"Just to be safe." He said. "We have way to many humans here and I don't really want to take the chance with five new vampires in town."
"But you took the chance with me when you took off running that night twelve years ago." I reminded him.
At that he tilted his head to look away from me. "I know, and that was a big mistake for me. I should have stayed that night."
"Yea." I said. "You should have." But then I made him look at me, "but that was twelve years ago, and if you had stayed then things would have been different between us."
"How so?" He asked.
"Well for one I might not gotten engaged to you." I told him holding up my left had with the ring on it.
At that he smiled. Guess he knew that was one thing that probably would have been changed between us. "I guess your right on that one." He finally said.
"I am right, and you know that just as much as I do. If you had stayed twelve years ago I'd probably had killed you on sight. But now... Now I can't even think about doing that." I said looking up at him.
"I know." He said." I couldn't even do that twelve years ago."
"Yea." I said. "And that reasons one I have pretended to not know, but I know everything."
"Oh..." He said smiling.
We talked for about half an hour before we finished the bottle of wine, then went out for a quick hunt. We found small animals to fill up the bottle, then went back the car, and to the airport. After we got the plane tickets we went home and started to wait the long night out for them to wake up. At about eight p.m. we ended up falling asleep without even thinking about it.
The morning that they were suppose to wake up I went down stairs and watched their every move. Waiting for something to happen, but nothing had happened most of the day and I was afraid that they would never wake. It is said that one's that don't wake die forever and are as if they never existed. I didn't want that to happen to my family.
Hours passed an soon it was eight p.m. This only made me fear more. I waited and waited but nothing happened. Victor came down stairs and he was just as fearful about what was happening.
"How is everything?" He asked.
"Doesn't look to well." I said. "Nothing has happened."
"Oh.." He said. "Well everything will be okay. You know that right?" He then asked walking toward me and wrapping his arms around me.
"I guess." I said leaning against him.
"It will be."
From then on we waited. It seemed like forever in till we actually got some type of response from little Samantha and them.
Victor was the first to notice it. He had seen little Samantha's arm move then the rest of her body. Soon enough she had opened her baby blue eyes to the new world and her new life.
"Hello." Victor and I said at the same time looking at her.
She looked back before she said anything. "Samantha!" She yelled hoping out of her make shift bed and running to hug me. "Oh... My... God... I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you so much too little Samantha." I said hugging her back.
"Who's all awake?" She then asked pulling away and looking around the room.
"Just you so far." I said. Then curiously I asked. "You remember them?"
"I guess.. A little." She said.
"Good.." I said.. "You probably want something to eat, huh?" I then asked standing up.
"Yea.." She said happily.
"You want to stay down here and wait for them?" I asked Victor.
"Yea, sure.. I'll wait. Go get her something to eat." He said.
"Okay." I said taking little Samantha's hand as we went up the stairs.
When we got upstairs the first thing that happened was little Samantha ran to the fridge door and grabbed one of the big bottles of blood and put some in a cup then she heated it up a bit and started to drink it. I looked at her in a bit of shock from the fact that she had known where it was. It didn't take long for her to notice that I was looking at her.
"What?" She asked drinking more of the blood.
"How did you know where it was?" I asked her taking the bottle from her.
"Well..." She started. "I've seen a lot."
"Like?" I asked.
"Well.. I just would like to say congrats." She said.
"Congrats?" I asked.
"Your engaged." She said. "I've known since they day he proposed to you."
"But..." I said. "You where asleep."
"I know.." She said. "But still... I seen that day when he did propose."
"How?" I asked in shock.
"I don't know." She said truthfully.
Then she began to drink more of the blood. "Save some for the other's." I told her starting to leave. "I have to go check on Victor and see if anything else has happened."
"Okay." She said as she closed the fridge door taking the one bottle in her hands to the living room.
I then left downstairs to see how Victor was doing.
. . . Victor
After Samantha and little Samantha left I watched to see if there was any more movement from the others. But as I had guessed, there was none. Everyone else in the room was still like stone. But this only worried me.
About half an hour later passed before I had seen any movement from anyone in the room. Samantha and little Samantha where still upstairs at the time of this so I couldn't say anything.
The person that was moving was Logan, Sam and Jack. Both where starting to wake up from there deep slumber.
"Hello?" I said looking at both of them as they woke up.
Logan first looked at me, then Jack did. Both had a face of wonder. "Um... Hello." Jack said as if he had no idea who I was.
"You okay Jack?" I asked him now looking at him worried. I know that it would be a long shot for them to remember who I was and all, but I became worried when he had no idea.
"Yea.." He said.. Then he looked at his father. "Who are you?" He asked.
"Logan." Logan said looking at his son. Then he looked at me. "Is everything okay with him?" He asked pointing to Jack.
"I don't know. But we will find out in a little bit when Samantha gets down here."
"Okay." He said. "Who's all awake?"
"Well you, Sam and Jack just woke up, and little Samantha is upstairs with Samantha getting something to eat." I told them.
"Eat?" They asked at the same time.
"Yea." I said. "Samantha went upstairs to get little Samantha something to eat. She should be back soon."
And just as I said that the basement door opened to Samantha standing at the top of the steps. She started to come down the steps being careful not to make to much noise but she really didn't have to be careful about that.
"Victor..." She started before she seen Jack and Logan.
When she caught sight of them she came running down the stairs and jumped on Logan hugging him like crazy.
"Samantha." Logan said in protest.
But she didn't care. "You're awake, you're okay!" She yelled.
"Yea. I am okay." Logan said. "But can you please get off of me before you kill me."
"Sorry." She said and just as fast as she was on him she hopped off of him standing only a few steps away from him. "You ready to eat?" She then asked.
"Yea.." Jack said before Logan or Sam had a chance to say anything.
Then she looked at me. "You can take them up and get them something, if you want. I'll wait for the others."
"Okay." I said as I walked up the stairs and out of sight with Logan and Jack.
We then ended up going to the kitchen and I got both of them a bottle of blood. After warming the bottles up I handed it to them, and right after they both ended up drinking them like it was nothing. I then left them upstairs to drink the rest of their blood with little Samantha as I went down to meet up with Samantha and wait for the others to wake up.
. . . Samantha
Victor, Jack, Sam and Logan had left it didn't take to long for Jade and them to wake. Jade was the last to wake. She had been second to last but she had been the last of the family for her body to actually want to wake. Her face was nervous, and she was shaking a bit as if she had a nightmare of some sort.
"Jade?" I said concerned. "Are you okay?"
She then looked at me, but she was still shaking. "Yea." She said. "What happened to me?"
"Nothing happened. Your just a vampire now." I said to her.
"Oh... Right..." She said.
"Yea. Now why are you shaking?" I asked her.
"I don't know." She said still shaking.
"Here." I said getting up and walking to grab one of the blankets off the floor to wrap it around her. She was still shaking in it but not as much as before.
"Thanks." She said.
"Everyone's upstairs." I then told her.
"Then we should go too." She said getting up, I followed her up the stairs where everyone was sitting on the couch drinking their blood and talking.
. . . Little Samantha
Three days late we went hunting, and that was when I remembered about the dresses that Samantha and Victor had bought and when I did I started to wonder what they were about and why we were leaving. So after a while I headed downstairs to see Samantha. "Why are we leaving?" I started as I went to sit on the couch.
It was a simple question.
"There are a few reasons to why we are leaving now." She said. "First was because Victor didn't want to take the chance with five new vampires in there old state home where everyone knows them." Then she stopped and just stared at me. "And the second reason is to be closer to our kind."
"Okay." I said. "Is there any other reason why?"
"No." She said.
"Okay." I said not sure what more to say. "When do you think the war is going to happen?" I asked her finally breaking the silence thinking about my dream of war. The one I had three days ago.
"A few hundred years or so. Maybe." She said. "I really don't know. It can't be to far behind everything else."
"Oh." I said. "Well I don't want it to come at all."
"No one does. But you can't stop it. And you know that just as much as I do." She said.
"I know." I said. Then I began to stand up and looked at Samantha. "I'm going to go for a walk." I said.
"Okay." She said. "Be carefull."
I walked out of the house and into the cool breeze of the night sky, and along the road near my old house. I had missed that place so much and really just wanted to be in a place that I knew. When I got there it was about 3:30 p.m. and nothing had really changed with the outside of the house. It still looked like normal, with the small garden in the front of the house. Everything looked pretty normal to me on the outside, so I walked to the front door, and was surprised that it was unlocked. I pushed the door open and it opened and stepped into the house.
After looking around the house I walked further in and started to head toward my room. When I got to the top of the steps I walked to the left and in my room. It was the same as I last remembered. There was a few stuffed animals on an old desk and my small TV near that. But something in this room didn't seem right. It was as if someone had gone in this room after I had left and had changed things around, but I shook it off and walked over to my bed.
When I got ot my bed I layed down and started to think about the dreams I had, and the boy that I was keeping away from everyone. I knew I had to tlak to someone about him, and wasn't really paying much attention when I heard someone yelling for me. It sounded like Samantha, so I figured that I would answer.
"Yea?" I said from my room.
"What are you doing?" She asked me as she started to walk up the stairs.
"Just laying on the bed." I said.
"Oh." She said as she reached the top of the stairs and walked to the door. "Well why are you in bed? You have one at the house."
"I know." I said. "I just need time to think."
"You want to talk?" She asked.
"Well I'm here if you really want to talk." She said as she opened the door.
"I kind of do want to talk." I told her sitting up.
She came to sit next to me and just stared at me. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"Everything." I said. "I'm afraid about the war, and the boy I try to keep away from everyone." I told her finally telling everything.
"I understand that."
"More then you could guess to be."
"Okay." She said. "Well what are you so nervous about?" She then asked me.
"I'm afraid of what might happen if I do meet him. What if I attack him and drink his blood." I said.
"There is nothing you really can do about that. He would become one of us then."
"I really don't want him to become one of us." I said.
"Well I could understand that." She said. "But if it happens, it happens."
"I know." I said.
"Good." Then she got up and looked around a bit before speaking. "I think we should go." She started. "We're kind of getting ready to leave tomorrow, and they sent me out to look for you so you could pack with us and we could be ready to leave tomorrow."
"Okay." I said standing up with her and we walked out of the house, but then I turned around again saying that I wanted to get something as I ran up the stairs to my room again and grabbed my picture of my family as humans, and one of my stuffed animals. I loved them so much I would never leave them. But the time I had wasn't my fault. I had to leave them then. After that I walked back down that stairs and met Samantha who had an interesting look on her face. "Sorry. I just didn't want to leave her. And I didn't want to forget this." I then showed her the picture of my family.
She smiled a little then spoke, "It's a great picture to keep. Something to remember your human life by."
"Yea." I said then we began to walk out the front door and back to her house.
It didn't take long to get back to the house, and when I walked into the front door the first person that came running up to me was my mother. She was showing her motherly love at me and saying that she was so worried about me. It didn't take long for her to realize that I had something in my hands. When she did she pulled away from me and just looked at the stuff animal and the one picture I had.
I just stared at her not saying anything.
"What's with the picture?" She asked me.
"It's us." I said in my eight year old voice before giving her the picture. She just looked at it not saying anything but I could see that she looked as if she was about ready to cry.
"When we where human." She said to herself a tear drop falling down her cheek.
I looked at Samantha then and I could see that she was hurt. "You know you had to do it." I told her in my head.
She just stared at me and it seemed that everything around us had just disappeared. "I wish I hadn't though." She said.
"It was that or we would have died."
"I know." She said, but I could still tell that she was upset and hurt.
Then everything just seemed to go to how it was again, but I was still able to talk to Samantha but it really hurt my head to get something to her. So I just gave up and went back to looking at my mother who was still crying about the picture.
"Mom." I said walking over to her. "Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yea." She said rubbing her tears away.
I just stared at her not really convinced that she was telling the truth, but she said she was again in till I looked away from her.
"Okay." I said. "I'm going to go get packed then." And then I left the room.
After I got everything packed I went back down the stairs to where my family was. They asked me if I had everything, and I told them that I did. Then they told me to put my things next to everyone else's in the corner of the room.
So that's what I did. I headed to the corner of the room that Samantha had directed me to and seen that there was already seven bags there, four of which where Jade's and Samantha's. They both wanted two bags for there things. One for clothing and one for makeup and all, and in Samantha's case one for the extra clothing that we would wear when we got to Spain . I put my bag next to theirs then went back to Samantha. And for the rest of the night we talked. And at about ten p.m. everyone wanted to go to bed.
Samantha had told us that she would wake us all up at about six a.m. so we could get to the plane on time. So that might have been one of the reasons to why we had went to bed at ten and not later. I was okay with that. I think that everyone was.
I headed up into my room like everyone else did, and turned on my stereo. It was a nice one. Big and black, Samantha had got it for me a while ago but I had never touched it, but today I was going to since it was going to be the last time hearing it for a long time.
The song that was playing was a sweet song. I had no idea where it had come from. I never did like Taylor Swift before. But this song was amazing. It was called Mary's song (oh my, my, my).
After turning off the stereo I went back to the bed, and when I fell asleep all I thought about was the young boy. And again I had a dream about him. The same one I had that afternoon.
when morning came Victor drove us to the airport where we got on the plane and flew to Spain, he then brought us to the house that we would be living at in Spain. It was a nice house, and I knew that I would love the place. This new house was to be my home now.
