AN: It's been awhile since I've been on here. This is a new story i've been working on. I decided to scrap chaos mana a long time ago because of some things if ever you knew of that story. Well anyway, I hope you enjoy this one.
Advent
Prologue
On the cold hard ground, a boy slowly opened his eyes and got up to his feet. His vision blurred, but in a moment's time he could see everything before him. The only problem was there wasn't much to see.
"There's...no one around," he thought aloud. Wherever he looked, he could see towering buildings that stretched as far as the eye could see, but the streets were empty - undeniably and suspiciously empty. The only sound that could be heard was the bristling of the wind against his raven black hair.
As his eyes alertedly searched the wide space before him for any trace of life, an unfamiliar sound had suddenly caught his attention. He looked over his shoulder and spotted small dark clouds that grew thicker as the boy continued to stare.
Eventually this mysterious mist began to show concrete form. From what the boy could see, this foggy object had grown four legs and a figure similar to a dog. In a few more seconds this creature revealed a mouth full of sharp fangs: a feature that forced the boy in his later teens to step back in caution. He'd counted five of them, and at that point, the boy turned around and finally followed his instinct's command: run
He dashed as fast as he could but the pitch black wolves followed closely behind. It was surprising to the boy how agile his feet had suddenly become, but his speed still fell short compared to his pursuers. He had no idea what was happening, however, survival was a much bigger priority.
"Damn! I'm a sitting duck out here!" he exclaimed just before hearing the sound of a gunshot echo throughout the empty space as he ran. He stopped a couple of seconds later and turned around. Thankfully the wolves had stopped, and one of their allies lay on the ground, disappearing into small floating crumbs.
And to the right, a figure stood a few feet away from the scene. To the boy's relief, it looked like a person - a girl to be exact. A pink hood covered her head, but she soon revealed her face.
"You look like you need some help" The girl said with a smile across her young looking face. She had blond hair, and strange eyes colored in purple. Her whole appearance seemed innocent from every angle, but the firearm in her hand told a different story. Aside from being a weapon that takes out even the most powerful of people, the gun didn't look much like an ordinary firearm at all.
Without notice, the wolves had suddenly switched their target. They ran towards the mysterious girl who aimed with one eye and took out another enemy with a precise shot. Ducking a leap from another foe, the girl swiftly pointed her gun and opened fire. It was strange. The odd 9mm had a shape almost befitting that from a science novel, and the sound it created sounded nothing like gunpowder. Instead, it was more synonymous to the clap of a quick bolt of lightning.
When only the two humans were left in the wide empty space, a short silence whispered between them.
"Who are y-" the boy tried to mutter, but was halted when the gunner raised her weapon at him, shooting one last bullet just inches away from his head. In shock, he looked over his shoulder to see the fading remains of an enemy that'd tried a last ditch effort.
"You're...Gale Wolfe, right?" The girl asked, sheathing away her gun in a sudden flash of light.
"W-What's it to you?"
"My name's Kari Riel, and I'm here to recruit you. You're a pretty rare find, you know?"
"...Recruit me?"
"Mhmm. Advent's already started, and we're gonna need all the help we can get"
