You've started making mistakes.

You were so careful before -
in fact, you were almost believable.
You'd use your pretty words and fake
a look of love that played on my heartstrings
like a musician. But you tore
down the thin sheet of pretense when you
slipped up, and I realized that none of it was true.

None of it. Not a word.

And though it hurts,
I'm glad I found out now, instead
of spending years with silly ideas
filling my head -
like the idea that you could love me.
