"Let me go!" A Takala, a feline creature, yowled as she was dragged away from her den by a hulking creature, its fur black and its eyes red. It snarled at her, baring huge fangs.

The girl wailed in fear as the creature picked her up by her neck, and she gasped for breath as she struggled for her feet to touch something, anything.

"Let go of me, Devil." She managed to choke out in a snarl. The demonic creature spun his head towards her, looking at her with fury in his gaze.

"Devil I may be," He growled, "but I do this for the protection of my race. Yours can die for all I care, cat." He threw her roughly and she hit a tree, gasping as she fell to the ground and lay limp. Her body, covered in soft brown fur and naked, for Takala didn't wear clothes, was bloody and matted as she stood up.

"I must protect my race. I will not allow these beings to tear us apart." She lunged for the creature, which was nearly twice her height, sinking her fangs into his thick shoulder. It grunted and grabbed her by the scruff, pulling her off of him with a rip that tore his shoulder open beneath her jaws.

Another Takala had heard the commotion and split from the battle on the opposite side of the clearing to protect his Alpha. He slashed at the creatures arm viciously, and he let go of the female Takala he was holding.

"Kele, get out of here!" She hissed.

"I swore to protect you with my life, and our race will not fall to these monsters!" He hissed, leaping into the air and tearing the creature's neck open. It roared, slamming Kele with his hand and he fell and hit the ground. The creature was about to make a killing blow, but the Alpha snapped at his heels, making him turn around. She slashed him across the muzzle but was too slow to dodge him as he pinned her to the ground.

She shrieked into the night air as the creature bit her, sending her life-blood pouring out onto the ground beneath her.

"NO!" Kele screamed, making as if to attack the creature once more in an attempt to avenge his dying leader.

"No, Kele," She hissed weakly as the monster turned towards her friend. "Tell the clans to flee. Abandon the fight, our cause is lost." Kele nodded, hesitantly leaving his master.

"Please…" She whispered as her vision started to go black. "Don't let our race die…"
