Author's Note: You will notice that I have removed the first 9 chapters, I did this because the book I just published is the finished version of those chapters and so I thought it was pointless to keep up the mistakes when the final draft is so much better. The book, Beauty In Itself Part One, has scenes in it that were not online and, to my knowledge, no typo's;) I am leaving up chapter's 10 through to the Epilogue until I finish Part Two of Beauty In Itself. There is a link to Beauty In Itself Part One on my profile, I hope you enjoy it.
Those sweet lingering moments, those are the ones I treasure the most and now, thanks to Ariston, my days are filled with them. Filled with seemingly endless lingering moments and with such passion and love. Ariston and I cannot seem to keep our hands off each other.
I laid there on his chest, playing with his curly hair and looking into his eyes. His hands rested on my waist. It feels surreal being with him like this. The moment was so beautiful; I wished I could freeze it in time, to come back to it whenever I wished. I got an idea then.
"My love, will you get me my IPhone?" I asked knowing that he could get it without getting up.
His hand glowed and in the next moment, the phone was there. I smiled and took it and turned on the camera and held it out and took a photo of us, then a few more. I sat up on his chest and took a few photos of him, click, click, click. He smiled and laughed, his hands still on my hips. He looked so glorious, I could not stop smiling.
In one swift motion he rolled so that he was on top of me and took the camera from me with the greatest of ease. His smile grew as he began taking photos of me. click, click, click.
"Be careful what kind of photos you take of me, you never know who might see them." I said.
Laughing, he laid down on top of me and kissed me as he took photos. Click, click, click. As if I have any hope of resisting him.
"Just pray my father does not see these." I said breathlessly against his lips.
"These? I can do far worse." he said with that devilish smile as he began kissing down my neck and continued down my torso.
Click, click, click. He kissed my abdomen and I giggled as it tickled. He looked up at me with that devilish smile.
"Don't you dare." I said.
Click, click, click. I gasped for air, convulsing with laughter as he kissing my belly.
"Stop it! Stop it!" I yelled though my giggles. "Ariston! I am… going to get… you for this. Now stop!"
Finely he stopped and moved so that his body was once again hovering directly over mine.
"Get me will you? I would like to see how you are going to do that since gods are not ticklish." he smiled devilishly.
"Oh I will find a way." I said, my voice soft.
I touched him lightly on his chest with both hands and his eyes became soft. I knew I had him then. In one burst of strength I pushed him up and to the side. Lifting him off of me and catching my IPhone just in time to take a photo of the look of shock on his face as he flew a few feet into the air and landed three feet from me on his back. A moment later I was sitting on his lap smiling to him as he looked at me in shock. I could not help snapping one more photo. Click. I do love my growing strength and speed.
A moment later his shock wore off and he began laughing, a deep hearty laugh. Click, click, click. He put his hands behind his head and looked up at me.
"You really are something, do you know that?" he asked.
"Fun having a play mate who is as strong as you isn't it?" I smiled and he laughed.
A moment later he had me pinned on my back with himself on top of me. I tried to move him again as I did before, but he was ready for it this time and only budged an inch so I would not hurt myself. He was solid, like granite.
"You are not as strong as me yet my Mera." he said.
Ariston leaned down slowly and kissed my neck.
"Do you yield?" he asked against my neck.
"Yes." I said breathlessly.
I surrendered to him, instead of playfully pushing him away; I now could not seem to get him close enough…
"Would you like to stay in for dinner or go out?" Ariston asked.
I smiled; he could feel I was hungry.
"Let's go out." I said in Greek, I have been practicing.
He smiled and we got up and took a shower.
I looked though my new clothing. All mine, I thought with amazement. My reality has been unreal since the moment I met Ariston, and each day it grows even more so. Life seems a dream, a beautiful, perfect dream of a dream, far too good to be true. But if there is one thing I know it is that this, our love, is true and that Ariston is true. He is what I want, he is what I have always wanted. Destiny, fate, call it what you will, this is my life and he is my love and always will be.
"What should I wear?" I asked.
"Where would you like to go?" he asked.
"Dancing." I said.
He smiled and walked up to my clothing and went though it then pulled out a sexy navy blue halter-top dress. I smiled to him and placed a kiss on his lips before putting it on. I added diamond drop earrings and bracelet.
I decided to put my hair up; I did not do half so good a job as Margret does but it looked descent. Ariston looked amazing in a black suit and bright blue button down shirt, the blue brought out the sky blue of his eyes. I still cannot get over his beauty.
"You look stunning as always my love." He said.
I returned the complement. He held me close and we arrived in golden lights in a hallway a few moments later. I have become used to this form of travel, it is wonderfully convenient.
The walls were painted in bright, bold colors showing abstract designs of musicians playing different instruments. Loud Latin music played and I smiled.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"Cuba. You did say you wanted to dance." He said with a smile.
He led me in and we ordered dinner. After we ate we danced.
How we danced was far different from the first time we danced in the barn, we were much, much closer already knowing each others bodies. We had no shame as we moved to the music and each other's bodies and neither did any of the other couples, for there was nothing to be ashamed of.
For hours we danced in that club, lost in the music and each other.
"Would you like to go for a walk on the beach?" Ariston asked over the music.
I nodded. We exited the club and walked down a street. I huddled closer to Ariston in the slight chill of the October air. Ariston stopped and took his coat off and put in over my shoulders.
He nodded; I kissed his lips and relished the tingles that ran throughout my body. He laughed lightly when our lips parted and wrapped his arm around my shoulders and held me close as we walked the short way to the beach.
I took my shoes off and Ariston did the same. The cool sand felt wonderful in between my toes.
"Tell me about the Twelve?" I asked.
"What would you like to know about them?" he asked with a smile.
"As much as I can, I want to know what to expect. You said that much of mythology is wrong, I want to know the truth."
"Who would you like me to begin with?" he asked.
I thought for a moment.
"Ennina." I said.
"My sister is extraordinary. The heir to a throne cannot expect to have the love and respect of the people passed down to them along with the crown. The love of the people must be won, not only in words but through deeds great and small. Ennina has earned that respect ten fold; the gods will be honored to have her as queen and her husband as king.
"Her name means 'the light' in our language. It not 'light' as in a lamp, but as in hope, the light of a light house that guides ships to safety. She is hope, she is light, she represents everything that is good in the worlds. She is one of the kindest people you will ever meet but when it comes to those she loves she is… ferocious in her protection of them. If someone harms or threatens her family, they just signed their own death certificate, she will make them pay but she is fair. Many gods are like that, she gets is from our father.
"She is unmatched in battle and strategy, if she has a peer it would be her husband Cronus. Her children are just as extraordinary as she is; they all have their gifts. She is incredibly wise; she does not only know, she understands. She not only is a warrior, a goddess and the crown princess, she is a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loves her husband, children and grandchildren more than anything."
His admiration for his sister was all too apparent.
"And her husband?" I asked
"They were quite the scandal in their day." He laughed then shook his head. "Ennina and Cronus, heaven and earth together again." He smiled; I gave him a questioning look. "All gods are born with an element or such. They have power over it and the element is part of them. Ennina shares her gifts with our father and her mother. All children of Zeus have the storm within us. When mythology says that 'Athena' was the only one of the gods who was allowed to use Zeus' bolt, what they meant was that she was then only one then who also had control over lightning and thunder as well. She is also known as the Thunder Goddess."
"Cronus' parents were the heavens and the earth as well. Although it does not always work out that way, some gods can be so different yet they end up being soul mates. Take Hades and Persephone for example, him of darkness, her of light and still they fell in love."
"So the stories about them are wrong as well?" I asked.
"Very. If you read the stories, you will see that they are told from Demeter's perspective, not Persephone's, except to say that she ate the seeds and was there for bound to the underworld and it's king. She loves him and he loves her, truly and deeply."
"Who next?" he asked.
"Aphrodite. Are all the stories about her true?" I asked, Ariston laughed.
"No, thank goodness. My niece is the goddess of love and beauty, not vanity. The stories that are told of her are not done so in context. If a poet spoke of cruel Aphrodite they speak of the ache love can cause the soul, or when they speak of her as teasing they are speaking of a beautiful woman who has beguiled them and there for is the goddess of love in their eyes. Every mans love is the goddess of love and seduction in his eyes."
He looked at me and I blushed.
"Your niece?" I asked, remembering what he had said.
There are many myths of her parentage. Some state she is the daughter of Zeus, some that she was born of sea foam and others far less pleasant.
"She is my sister Ennina's granddaughter. Aphrodite's father is Ennina and Cronus' son Alexander; her mother is Dione, daughter of Poseidon and Amphitrite. Aphrodite is my great niece, however we drop the 'greats', it can be a real headache with all the generations we have. It could take hours to introduce someone if we were to say just how many generations stand between them and you." Ariston laughed.
"Ennina herself was once a love goddess many thousands of years ago. She explained to me once that a goddess of love must understand all it's aspects if she is to help others in it and in order to understand the depths of love you must also understand the depths of suffering that can come from it. Being a goddess of love is something you have to earn, the title is not given lightly. Both my sister and my niece have earned the title." Ariston explained.
"Hermes?" I asked a moment later, when I was certain he was finished.
"Ah Hermes, we do love to tease him." he laughed.
"He is the god of messengers and thieves?" I asked he laughed again.
"He is not a god of thieves. The mortals made him into such because when he was a babe he stole our brother Apollo's cattle and we have never let him forget it." I shook my head, brothers. "My brother has a joking nature, always quick of wit. He is my fathers messenger, and a good one at that."
"Hera." I named off another name.
"She is kind and loving, every bit a mother and wife. She has welcomed in her husband children into her home and her heart, there are few women like her. I cannot imagine it has been easy for her, my father was… careless for some time in their marriage."
"Many gods will lay with mortal women not only for the sex but for the child that will come of that union. Some of the greatest people in history were descended from the gods. My father however, would also lay with goddess and nymphs, that was what Hera did not like, but she said nothing because of the love she bares him and allowed him to do as he pleased. That changed after Persephone was born. He fathered a child with Hera's sister, Demeter. That was too much for her to take. My father loves Hera, he always has, and he knew he could not lose her and realized that no conquest would mean as much as she does to him. From then on, he has not fathered another immortal child outside of their marriage."
He looked at me.
"I want you to know that I will never do that to you. You are all the woman I desire, you are everything to me and I will never hurt you like that." He swore to me.
I smiled and placed my hand on his cheek and looked into those ancient eyes of his.
"I know that my love. I trust you."
"I swear to never betray that trust, I will always tell you the truth. And I want you to be completely honest with me and never spare my feelings. I do not want us to keep secrets from each other in any way, shape or form." He said with warmth in his voice and in his soul.
"I promise." I said and leaned up to seal it with a kiss.
"Who next?" he asked.
"He is a good man, not as ruthless as most make him out to be, he is disciplined. He loves his wife Aphrodite; they too have been through a lot to be together. He can be rash and impulsive at times, his wife balances him."
"Poseidon?" I asked.
"He is a great god, much like my father in that way. He is the king of the seas. He has a warm and genuine personality but he is not someone to be tangled with. In a contest with my sister Ennina he created the first horse, he would have won if she had not created the olive tree. He was proud of his niece for winning and has not held it against her as it is said in myths."
"Demeter?" I asked.
"She is very down to earth, quite literally." He laughed. "She prefers to live on earth, that is where she raised her daughter, Persephone. Demeter is a powerful goddess, she does beautiful work with the earth."
"Apollo and Artemis?" I asked about the twins.
"They are very different even though they are twins. Artemis is wild in many ways, a free spirit who wants nothing more than to run though the woods. She loves nature and the forest and hunting with her bow. She has a daughter, Kallisto, with her husband Orion. Elianna and I named our daughter after her. even though they are cousins, my Kallisto and Artemis' Kallisto look enough alike to be sisters.
"Apollo is a good and pure soul. He is fittingly the god of the sun, he has a bright personality and looks. He is always smiling and humming or singing, he is the self proclaimed life of the party." Ariston laughed. "He is very wise in the ways of medicine; his son Asclepius was one of the first doctors the mortals ever knew."
"He is another god whom has a calm down to earth nature. He is the god of the forge and of technology. You have seen the jewels he and his apprentices create, his work on weaponry and armor is of as great a quality. He forged my swords for me. He was first married to Aphrodite, he truly loved her but it was his second wife Aglaea, one of the graces, whom is his soul mate."
"He is the one who added the improvements to your car." I realized, Ariston smiled to me.
"Yes he is." He smiled. "Dionysus?" he asked
I smiled and nodded. He is the last of the twelve.
"He creates the most wonderful wine, he has a real gift with it. His personality is as rich as his wine. Laughter and good cheer always come from his presence."
"Another goddess you should know of is Chaos." Ariston said.
"Who is she?" I asked.
"If a god or goddess is old enough and powerful enough they can create their own planets. It is not pure coincidence that the earth is just the right distance from the sun. If it were any closer it would be to hot and if it were any further it would be too cold for life as you know it to exist. All gods in worlds of this planet trace their heritage back to her.
"Chaos created the three realms of this world and the mortals. She is also Hera, Demeter and Hestia's mother." He said.
"She created the race of man?" I asked in amazement.
"So to speak, Chaos created their bodies. A much higher being, a god more powerful than all the gods combined, created their souls." Ariston explained.
We walked in silence for a few minutes as I absorbed the truth I had just been told. It was minutes more before I spoke.
"Do you have grandchildren?" I wondered.
He smiled and nodded.
"Elianna and I's descendants still exist. I keep an eye on them and check in on them from time to time. One of them, Ethan, looks so much like my son Timaios it still shocks me to look at him." he shook his head.
"Do you visit them?" I asked.
He shook his head.
"No, they do not even believe the gods exist. I would not want to trouble them with my presence." He said.
"You presence does not bring trouble my love. Believe me, they would be honored to know you, to know where the came from. I know I am honored to have you in my life." He looked at me with such unconditional love in his eyes, I smiled softly and placed my hand on his cheek and looked into those eyes. "Will you consider being in their lives? They come from you, from your wife and your son. They are a part of you, they are your family, they should be in your life."
"I will consider it."
He leaned down and kissed my lips.
"I love you my Mera." He whispered to me.
"I love you, my Ariston." I replied before kissing him again.
Ariston and I laid in bed in each others arms. We talked more about my joining the army, he was still not happy with the idea but he is open to it since it is my decision.
"This is truly what you want?" he asked, I nodded and he sighed.
He turned on his back and stared up at the celling unseeing. I could feel how badly he wanted me to change my mind, how badly he needed it.
"Is this life truly all horrors?" I asked.
"No, it is not. Helping people, guiding them, it holds a great meaning and when it is done correctly there is a great sense of accomplishment that comes with it. There is so much beauty in my world; I want to share it all with you. I just fear for you. The thought of loosing you… is..."
I sat up and sat on him and looked down at the beautiful god beneath me. He looked into my eyes, still pained.
"'There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.'" I quoted the Greek philosopher Epictetus. "I hate seeing you worry so much, I hate seeing you miserable. Your pain is my pain my love. Whatever is to come is beyond our control, what we have is now."
"But you do have control over this, you can say no. You can become my wife and lead a somewhat normal life with me. I would give up my duties for you, I would give up anything for you, to keep you safe." He said.
He sat up and put his arms around me so that we were somewhat at eye level. I place my hand on his warm cheek.
"I would never ask that of you. You are needed, and so am I. I cannot let this go, I cannot neglect my duty."
"It is not your duty yet, there may well be another." He said.
"It is my duty, my love. I was born for this; deep within me I have always known that. I want you, always. I want to marry you and lead a beautiful life with you but I also want this, I have to do this. As tempting as your offer is…I will never forgive myself if I were to do as you ask."
He sighed then shook his head and smiled.
"What?" I asked, relieved to see him smile.
"You have too much of the gods within you, you are too selfless."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"Selflessness is both a blessing and a curse, by giving so much you can lose your balance, you can lose yourself. That is why love is so important to the gods, when you give everything it is wonderful to have someone who will give their all to you without your asking." He said as he caressed a few stray hairs behind my ear. "I have already said I will stand by you in this, just do not expect me to like it."
I kissed him then held him close, my hand in his curls as we sat there.
"If you are going to truly devote yourself to this, there is going to be no time for high school." Ariston said.
"I already knew that." I said, pulling back to look into his eyes.
"I will still be able to live with you?" I asked.
"Yes, you will. It would be best if we were to live on Olympus, I have a house there. It is beautiful there, you will love it."
"We will need to get Vrontos." he said.
"Could you not simply spirit him away?" I asked with a smile.
"I could, but that would not be a good idea. The people here still see me as a mortal; for my horse to disappear in golden light would remove that elusion and I may need this alias again someday." He told me.
"Alright, when should we?" I asked.
"In a few days, before we leave for Olympus. We should go and ride him tomorrow, he will be cross with us for leaving him unattended for so long." I smiled a little at that.
I needed to say goodbye to the girls anyway.
"What am I going to tell everyone?" I asked.
"You can tell them that we are running off together or that you are transferring to a new school, or anything else you like. However, due to the magnitude of this truth, it is not something that can be told to everyone, not yet." Ariston said.
"I understand that." I said.
He held me close; I hated the feeling within him, that we only had so much time left together. He began kissing my neck and things quickly progressed from there, I was glad for the distraction, we both were…
I sat next to Ariston in his truck as we drove to the stables. I can hardly believe our week is almost over and that tomorrow I will be presented to the gods. The week has been wonderful, we spent most of it in bed but I am in no way complaining. He also took me shopping a few times and I have to admit that I did enjoy teasing him in the lingerie shops.
"Are you going to miss it here?" Ariston asked.
"I honestly do not know." I admitted. "This is where I have been for the past three years, but I am looking forward to moving on to the next step in my life and am grateful to do so with you by my side. My mother has a sang, 'for every end, there is a beginning.' I have found that sang to be true so many times in my life, this is one of them."
Ariston smiled to me for a moment before looking back to the rode. He brought my hand that he held to his lips and kissed it. Ten minutes later we reached the stables.
"Would you like me to start getting your things while you hook up the trailer?" I asked he smiled to me.
"I would love that, I will bring the trailer around for you." He said.
He stopped in front of the stables, I opened my door and went to get out when he pulled me back to him and kissed me. I laughed one breathless laugh.
"Now you may go." He said and we both chuckled before I got out.
I walked into the barn.
"Mera!" Margret came over with Jack in tow.
I went to her and hugged her.
"How have you been?" I asked.
"We're doing great." She smiled.
"We wanted to surprise you and see you one last time before you left." Jack said.
"What a wonderful surprise." I smiled and gave him a hug.
"Do you need help with the tack?" she asked.
"I would love some." I said.
We walked towards the tack room together. We talked and gathered the things up, which was not difficult since Ariston is so organized. Ariston joined us shortly after.
"I was hoping to say goodbye to Aaron, have you seen him?" I asked Jack.
Jack got a look on his face.
"Aaron left." He informed me.
"What? When?" I asked.
I just saw him a few days ago; he seemed to be doing well.
"Yesterday." Jack said. "He came into his room and started packing everything, or at least what he could fit. He seemed pretty freaked out. When I asked him what was wrong he told me that something came up and he had to go. He said he would not be coming back, that he got into some boarding school in another part of the country."
Worry filled me. I walked a few feet away from them before I took out my phone and dialed the number.
"Hello?" I sighed in relief.
"Thank god, Aaron what is going on? Where are you?" I asked.
"Hi Mera. I wish I could tell you… but I can't." he said.
"Are you well? Are you safe?" I asked, that much I must know.
"Yes, I'm both. You don't need to worry about me; this place is not half bad." He laughed. "This is where I am supposed to be. I am happy here." He said. "I am sorry I couldn't say goodbye, I wanted to, but there was no time,"
He stopped short as if he was about to say too much. I felt something from Ariston and looked up at him. There was something in his eyes. He knows something about this, I can feel it. I looked away again.
"Will I ever see you again?" I asked Aaron.
"I honestly don't know. I hope so, it is not like I am a captive or anything."
"I am going to miss you." I said.
"I miss you already." He sighed. "I have to go, I will call you again when I can."
"Goodbye." He said quickly and hung up.
"Goodbye." I said into the phone even though there was no one to hear it.
I turned back to see Ariston looking at me and Margret and Jack pretending they were not.
"He's alright." I said around the lump in my throat. "I have to get Vrontos' blankets."
I turned around and went quickly towards the blanket room before they could see my tears realizing I may have just lost one of my closest friends. I went into the room and closed the door behind me.
I turned around and ran into Ariston's arms. He held me close.
"He is alright Mera, I promise you that." He said.
I looked up at Ariston. He knows something and I am going to find out what it is.
"What do you know about Aaron?" I asked him.
"It is not for me to say." He said.
If it were anything else I would have dropped it, but I had to know.
"Ariston, please my love…" I begged, looking into his eyes.
He sighed and looked up for a moment before looking back at me.
"I suppose he would not mind if you knew." He said. "Aaron is on Olympus."
That shocked me.
"What?" I asked.
"He is a descendant." He said.
I smiled slightly. I never stopped to wonder where Aaron got the strength, speed and precession, which made him Blueridge Prep's star quarterback. I shook my head, I should have known.
"How long have you known?" I asked him.
"I always knew what he was, I could sense it. I do not know any more than what I told you, Aaron is not my responsibility, I was sent to you, not him." he said.
He looked at me.
"Are you angry with me for asking?" I asked.
"You know full well that I do not have it in me to deny you anything." He said, he was upset. "I was not supposed to tell you that."
I felt terrible. I remembered something then and leaned up and kissed him. I felt his upset melt away and I deepened the kiss.
"That is not fair." He said breathlessly.
"That is what I said." I replied.
He shook his head.
"Am I forgiven?" I asked
"Always. But you must understand that there are some things that are not for me to tell." He said.
"I understand that. I would not have asked you if it were anything else." I said.
"I know." He smiled and I returned the smile.
He kissed me again and we did what we could to keep it at a kiss, both wanting more. When we broke apart we each grabbed a few of Vrontos' blankets and went back out to see Margret and Jack who were waiting for us.
"We thought you might have gone missing." Jack said with a grin.
I blushed and Ariston laughed.
"It was tempting." I said, looking up at Ariston.
"I will go get Vrontos." Ariston said after we had all of his tack in the trailer.
"Alright." I said.
He leaned down and kissed my lips once then walked away.
"Mera!" I would know Ella's voice anywhere.
I turned to see her just as she came bounding up to me to hug me.
"Hello Ella." I greeted her.
Marge, Olivia, Heather and even Nell were there, I greeted them and gave them all hugs.
"Do you have to go? Can't you finish the school year then move after we graduate?" Ella asked.
"I have to go, it is time." I told them.
"When is your flight?" Margret asked.
"Tomorrow morning, I can hardly wait to see Greece and meet Ariston's family."
I told everyone that I got into a college in Greece and I am moving there with Ariston and that I am going to finish out high school there. So far, everyone has bought it.
"Are you sure you don't want to go to Harvard? We could all be together and go shopping all the time." Margret tried to tempt me for the hundredth time; I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"I know what I want, and Ariston and Greece are it." I told her.
"Well make sure you let us know when you two get married, I am not about to miss that." She said.
"We will." I said.
Ariston walked back in with Vrontos, our smiles grew when our eyes met. I went over and helped Ariston put on the shipping boots on Vrontos. When we finished Ariston loaded Vrontos into the trailer.
"Be sure to visit when you can." Heather said.
"We will." I promised.
I gave all the girls a hug except for Nell; she is not the hugging type.
"Good luck." Nell said, it was the first thing she has ever said to me that was not in sarcasm. She held her hand out, I smiled and shook it.
"Thank you Nell, good luck to you as well." I told her.
Ariston and I said our goodbyes to Margret and Jack then got into the truck and drove off holding hands. When we were in the woods there was a bright flash behind us, I looked back to see that the trailer was gone. I looked at Ariston.
"Vrontos is on Olympus now, most likely running for the river." Ariston explained with a smile.
I shook my head and laughed. We sang to the radio on our way back.
"You know what I would love?" I asked when we were back at our house.
"What?" Ariston asked taking me into his arms.
"Pizza." I said.
"Mmm, that does sound good. Rome or Sicily?" he asked and I laughed then kissed him.
I awakened to the feeling of warm granite like lips kissing my own. I placed my hand in Ariston hair to deepen the kiss without opening my eyes. My body responded to his touch and kiss eagerly. I opened my eyes when the deep kiss ended. It was still dark out but his eyes glowed softly in the night. I knew the look in his eyes and the feeling within him all too well. I kissed him and held his body close to mine with him kissing down my neck…
The sun was just beginning to rise as we laid in each other's arms in silence and bliss. I love moments like theses, those little moments that are so great.
"We need to bathe soon. I have found a lady in waiting for you, her name is Tianna, she is a mountain nymph." He said.
"What will she do?" I asked.
"Help prepare you, style your hair and the like. All highborn ladies have one." He said.
I thanked him and we ate breakfast in bed before we got out of bed and bathed. I put on a robe. When we returned to our bedroom Ariston called her name and in the next moment she appeared in a rosy light unlike Ariston's golden light.
She was a lovely woman with hair the color of the sun and teal eyes. She dressed in a silk knee length lavender dress. She had flowers in her hair and a kind smile, her hands clasped before her.
"Mera, this is Tianna." He said.
"It is nice to meet you." I said, putting my hand out to shake hers.
She smiled and shook my hand.
"It is a pleasure to meet you my lady." She said.
"These are for today." Ariston said.
He opened a big velvet box. The jewels were white diamond and sapphires. There were a bracelet, drop earrings and be two necklaces. I looked up to him and smiled.
"If you keep this up I am going to think you only want one thing." I warned him playfully.
"I do only want one thing." He said. "You."
I smiled and kissed him.
"They are beautiful." I said breathlessly.
He handed the box to Tianna then leaned down and kissed me again.
"I have another gift for you in our closet, I had something made for you to wear today." He said breathlessly.
"Thank you, I am sure I will love it." I said.
I kissed him once more then went into our closet with Tianna following behind. Sure enough, there was a tall shape that had a silk sheet over it. I removed the sheet and gasped as I saw the dress on the mannequin. It the silk of the gown was an iridescent turquoise. The top had a sweetheart neck with straps that were an inch in width with tiny, lustrous pink and white pearls crisscrossing in a diamond shaped pattern. There was also another piece of silk that would hang down over my shoulders. The bodice had more pearls here and there that followed down the dropped waist and A-line skirt that flowed softly to the floor, the lower they were on the gown the more there was of them. The back had a corset; the lacing was a thick dark pink ribbon. The dress was stunning, like nothing I have ever worn.
"Have a seat my lady." Tianna said kindly.
I sat at my vanity and began brushing my hair gently.
"How would you like your hair styled my lady?" she asked.
"However you would like to do it, I do not know the styles the women are wearing on Olympus." I said.
She nodded. She puled my hair back partly and pinned the sides back into place letting the rest of my golden curly hair cascade down my back. After she finished my hair she took out what I thought was necklaces and placed it on my head and pinned it into my hair.
"I thought that was a necklace." I admitted, she smiled kindly.
"No, it is not. The Twelve wear crowns at court, women who possess their ichor are allowed to wear this kind of jewelry in their hair to show their royal ichor." She said.
When she was done she I got up. She took the dress off the mannequin with ease and looked at me. I realized what she wanted and I dropped my robe. It felt a bit odd, Ariston is the only one I have been naked in front of since I was six years old. I got over it quickly and she helped me into the dress. The corset was not as tight as the ones women used to wear thankfully, but it was snug. The dress fit perfectly.
Tianna put the necklace, bracelet and earrings on me. I looked at myself in the mirror, it felt natural to dress in such a way, I loved it.
"Are you pleased my lady?" she asked.
"Extremely. Thank you." I said.
She bowed her head once.
"When ever you have need of me simply call my name and I will come." She said.
I thanked her again and she disappeared in golden light. I walked out to the living room to find Ariston waiting for me, wearing an ivory suit with gold work on the collar, the ends of the sleeves, the hem of the coat and the hem of his pants in a tasteful pattern. His shirt was the color of my dress and undone a few buttons to expose that amazing chest of his. He looked every bit a prince. He almost looked as incredible as he does naked, almost. I blushed at the though.
Ariston looked me over, that unhinged jaw look on his face. Complete awe.
"You look…" he was at a loss for words, that is not something that happens often. "Like a goddess." He finished with a bright smile.
"Thank you my prince." I curtsied.
He laughed and walked up to me and placed a sweet lingering kiss on my lips. He looked into my eyes and I nodded and watched, as he became gold light for a moment before retuning to the form I know so well.
"Welcome home." Ariston said.
I turned to look at what was before me and gasped. The first thing I noticed was the garden, a small stream ran behind us with beautiful green grass on its shore. Huge, ancient trees were around us, mostly oak with a few olive trees bearing their fruit. Birds sang their sweet song, only a few of which sounded familiar. Roses and other beautiful flowers in full bloom climbed the trunks and limbs of the trees. Bushes of flowers of every color lined a wide stone walk way which the limbs of the trees hung over and from them flowering vines hung down almost low enough to touch. It was so beautiful, so peaceful; the sent in the air was so pure and sweet, like nothing I have ever smelt. It was enchanted.
I smiled and took my eyes off the beauties of the garden to look at Ariston, he was smiling.
"This is your home?" I asked in amazement.
"Our home, you belong here just as much as I do. I told you my house near Blueridge was nothing by comparison." He laughed and held out his arm. "Come, our family awaits."
I smiled and took his arm. I examined the wonders as we walked along the path. A few minutes later the path widened into a circular opening of stone. There were chase lounges in rich colors under the trees and once beautiful goddess with caramel colored curls and golden eyes smiled to us as we passed, Ariston bowed his head and I did the same. She looked at me curiously before looking back to her book. Ariston and I continued on the path where it narrowed into the straight path the size of the one we had been on before.
After a few twists and turned I could see something white glittering at the treetops. A few minutes more and the path straightened out and I gasped yet again as I looked on a huge palace, its size easily out trumped the Pentagon. The palace was made of white marble that was vined with gold that shimmered in the light as the pure white marble glowed in sunlight; the sight of it took my breath away. The palace was Greek architecture with pillars great and small all about it. There were huge windows that seemed to be five stories tall and hundreds of stone balcony's jutting out from the palace.
"This is the great palace." Ariston informed me.
"Do you live here?" I asked.
"I have an apartment here. My home…" he took a deep breath and I looked at him the moment, feeling what he was feeling. "I will show you my home later, after you have been properly introduced to our family."
I wondered what he was not saying but I could feel that he did not wish to speak of it just then so I let it drop and we continued walking. The garden ended and the hill up to the Great Palace was all grass. The grass did not appear to be cut, it looked as if it simply grew to a perfect length and swayed softly in the warm breeze. The walkway turned into steps with a thick gold veined marble railing on either side. Ariston and I ascended the stairs then walked up the path and climbed more steps onto a portico. In front of us was a huge opening, fifty feet in width and a hundred feet tall.
A grand staircase was a hundred feet ahead of us. Looking up I saw a huge skylight fifteen stories above me, walkways of the different stories outlined the opening, I could see gods and goddess walking them. Some of the railings and pillars inside were carved of wood instead of stone, it offset the marble nicely.
"This place is extraordinary." I said.
"We gods have always been prone to grandeur." Ariston said. "The palace was not always as big as it is now. My father has seen it expanded when ever there is need."
Ariston began leading me again and I looked towards the staircase so I would not trip. A goddess was descending the stairs as we walked up, she smiled to Ariston and he gave her a nod and a polite smile I did the same when she looked at me. There was something about the way she eyed Ariston.
A former flame? I thought the question to him.
If you can call it that, it was long ago and nothing more than one night. He replied.
A good night? I wondered.
Not even close to the ones I have spent with you. He replied and I smiled.
Other gods and goddesses walked the halls; every goddess wore such beautiful gowns although there were a few who wore pantsuits or skirt suits. Many of them had the same sky blue eyes as Ariston, but I saw every color eyes, skin and hair walking though the halls. There were gods also, some looked to be young while some looked fully-grown, the same age as Ariston appears.
Many paintings hung on the walls, painting I have never seen but held the stroke of genius that marks a master.
"Some of these paintings are older than I am," Ariston told me. "Painted by masters long forgotten. Here the paintings will never wither, never fade, they will stay in the state they were meant to be seen in." I smiled at what a beautiful thing that is that such works of art will not be lost to time.
We took many turns, each hall we walked was grand, and passed many wooden doors engraved with gold or adamantine while some doors were made entirely of gold or adamantine and accented with wood for a reversed look. We walked on one walkway that had courtyards of trees and flowers on either side below us.
"How do you not get lost in these halls?" I asked, Ariston laughed.
"That is where teleportation comes in handy. Some jest that not even Zeus himself has seen every room in his palace."
"I would not doubt it." I said.
We came to a long hall, and by long I mean that even with my improved eyesight I could not see it's end. It seemed to go on forever. In between marble pillars were statues of men and women, gods I presume.
"The greatest of the gods, Demi gods and even descendant have a statue in their honor created and placed in this hall." Ariston informed me.
"Do you have one?" I asked.
"No, I have not accomplished feats such as they have."
I looked at one in almost shock and stopped to look at it.
The name on the plate held the same symbols as the ones that are etched within the Rose Diamond that adorns my neck, 'the language of the gods' Ariston called it. Because of the connection Ariston and I share I could read it.
"Lady Pandora, ensnarer of shadows. Daughter of Zeus, wife of Epimethus, mother of Alexis and Reina." I read the inscription.
"She looks like my mother." I said in awe.
"She looks like you." Ariston stated simply. "You get you violet eyes and golden hair from her. You resemble her greatly from what my father tells me."
I was still amazed by the resemblance, it was not exact but it was amazingly close, close enough to give anyone pause. I wondered how much I am like her, could I ever do the things she did? Remember the cost it came at, a voice whispered in my mind, if she is alive, she has lost everything. Her daughters, her husband, the box, everything.
I shook the dark thoughts away and continued walking.
I would give up anything, to do what has to be done… but could I give up him? Could I leave the man I love alone in order to fulfill my destiny?
I did not know if I could do that, I felt tears in my eyes, my heart and throat constricting at the thought. In the next moment Ariston was holding me in his arms.
"Mera, there is always time, you can always change your mind. Know that." I nodded then he smiled. "Smile my love, this is a happy occasion, your long awaited home coming."
He leaned down and kissed me, my doubts and worries washed away the moment my lips touched his. I held onto him, treasuring him. We were both breathless when the kiss ended, I smiled.
"There it is." He said and I laughed. "Come, it is not far now, we are entering the old part of the palace."
I nodded and we started off again. We did not walk down the whole hall of statues; we turned right a few yards from where we were.
A few minutes more and we began to walk through a huge hall. The ceilings were a hundred feet high and the path way was lined on either side by huge pillars of yellow marble that were banded at the tops and bottoms with white marble. To our left sunlight streamed in, giving the place a beautiful glow. It was a specular sight, like everything else in this palace.
"Here we are." Ariston said.
I took a deep breath and kept walking as Ariston led me though open double doors. Ariston and I entered what looked to be an enormous living room. The same gold veined marble adorned the walls but the floor here was black gold veined marble, which off set the walls beautifully. Over twenty gods stood in the room, the Twelve and their spouses.
"Took you long enough." One of the gods said with a friendly crooked smile.
The god who spoke had sandy blond hair and sky blue eyes; he mostly took after Zeus in his looks. Something about him was familiar, eerily so. He had his arm around a lovely goddesses waist, she had long chocolate brown hair and fair skin.
"I thought Mera would like to see the gardens." Ariston said to his brother.
Zeus and Hera were easy to spot. They stood in front of the other gods, they were powerful figures indeed. Zeus was tall and powerfully built, his silver curly hair was short as was his beard. His skin was the same cinnamon color as Ariston's and his eyes were the same sky blue, only Zeus' seemed to laugh with good humor. I saw where Ariston gets his crooked smile.
The goddess at his side, his wife Hera was beautiful. Her straight brown hair hung loose around her shoulders, and a crown of gold sat atop her head. Her golden tan skin and bright gray blue eyes complemented her beautifully. She had an elegant face, perfect nose, high cheekbones and perfectly full lips. She was beautiful, I saw where Ennina gets her looks.
Ennina was standing near Zeus, her arm wrapped around the arm of a very handsome god whom I assume to be her husband Cronus. Cronus was a head taller than his wife; he had cinnamon skin, though lighter than Ariston's. His straight black hair was short and styled into a comb over that was in style about a hundred years ago but it suited him well, giving him a classic look. He had a strong handsome face and bright pale green eyes and a kind, even smile. He too was powerfully built.
I saw many other gods and goddesses, each goddess had a perfect figure though some varied in different ways and the gods were all powerfully built, well muscled and handsome.
"Welcome Mera." Zeus said stepping forward with his wife on his arm and putting his hand out.
I placed my hand in his he placed a simple kiss on it.
"It is so wonderful to finely meet you Mera." Hera smiled at me.
She had a motherly warmth about her, a kindness but also a regality as is befitting a queen.
"It is an honor to meet you your majesty, both of you." I said.
"You may call me Hera, or grandmother, which ever suits you." She said.
I smiled and nodded.
"Allow me to introduce my family." Zeus said.
"My brother Poseidon and his wife Amphitrite, daughter of Oceanus and Tethys. King and queen of the seas." He introduced them.
Poseidon looked a lot like his brother, only his hair was black and he was clean-shaven. His eyes were a soft sea green and he shared the same crooked smile as his brother. Amphitrite was as powerful a figure as her husband. Her pale blond curls were in an up do and a crown of silver, coral and pearls sat atop her head. Her skin was fair and her eyes were the color of shallow water.
The both greeted me.
"My sister Demeter, goddess of bounty and mother of queen Persephone. And her husband Iasion." He introduced them.
The goddess had hair the color of wheat and eyes the color of the first leafs of spring, a beautiful bright, lively green. Her face was of an oval shape, her skin a sun kissed tan with the golden glow of the gods. The god next to her was tall and well built, though not so much so as the other gods. He had brown hair and soft brown eyes.
"My daughter and her husband would have loved to be here to meet you but their duties occupy them today." Demeter stated in a beautiful voice.
Her voice was calm and slightly deeper than most women's are but still held that godly beauty to it.
"I understand, I will be honored to meet them when they are able." I said, she nodded her head.
Zeus continued with the introductions.
"You have already met my heir and eldest daughter the princess Ennina. This is her husband Prince Cronus, god of the earth, son of Oranus and Gaia." He introduced them.
They came forward and greeted me warmly.
"My son Ares, god of warfare. His wife and my granddaughter Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, daughter of Dione and Alexander."
Ares had his straight brown hair combed back, he had Hera's gray blue eyes and sking, Zeus' face and height. Aphrodite was an amazing beauty, her face was gentle and elegant, her fair skin held the golden glow of the gods and her hair was a pale golden color, the same color as her grandmother Amphitrite, she also had her eyes, the color of shallow water, that beautiful green blue.
"My daughter Artemis, goddess of the hunt and the moon and her husband Orion."
Artemis had her fathers sky blue eyes and black hair but hers was straight. Her skin was fair and her face feminine and elegant. Her husband had blond hair and gray green eyes, a strong handsome face and a good smile.
"My son Dionysus and his wife Ariadne daughter of king Minos of Crete and his queen Pasiphae."
Dionysus had the same laughing blue eyes as his father, he looked a lot like Zeus except for his golden curls. His wife was a Grecian beauty herself with tanned skin, long dark brown hair and dark mysterious eyes and long eye lashes.
"my son Apollo and his wife princess Cassandra, daughter of king Priam and queen Hecuba of Troy."
Apollo was just as just as Ariston explained him, he seemed to hold the sun within him. His hair was a beautiful gold the same shade of the sun, his eyes a laughing sky blue. He was radiant; he had warmth about him, a kindness and friendliness. His wife Cassandra was stunning beside him, she seemed to hold the radiance of the sun within her again. Her hair was a honey blond, a calmer tone than her husbands, her eyes were a warm golden brown and she, like the other goddess had a beautiful figure, the kind models would kill for.
"My son Hermes and his wife Merope, daughter of Atlas and Pleione."
Hermes was the god whom spoke when we entered.
"And last but certainly not least, my son Hephaestus and his wife Aglaea, daughter of and one of the three Charities, you know them as the Graces.
Hephaestus was thicker than the other gods but not fat. He had Hera's brown hair, lips and gray blue eyes and Zeus's face. His brown beard suited him well. Aglaea had black hair and strikingly brilliant blue eyes, brighter than Zeus', and fair skin. Her face was different from the other goddesses but no less beautiful. Her lips were slightly finer, her nose longer, her cheekbones a little less pronounced on her heart shaped face.
"I am honored to meet you all." I said.
"Come, let's sit." Zeus said.
We all sat on the different couches; I sat next to Ariston on a love seat. All eyes were on me.
"forgive my children for making you uncomfortable," Hera apologized. "we have watched you all your life, we are all so happy to be finely meeting you."
"It is alright, this is all still a bit unreal for me to be here with you all." I said with a smile.
"I told you not to keep her away." Hermes said to Ariston.
"I had my reasons brother." Ariston replied.
I looked at Ariston and he smiled to me.
"How do you like Olympus so far?" Aphrodite asked in her honey sweet voice.
"It is extraordinary, I have never seen anything like it."
"Wait until you go to the market, the shopping is the best in the world, we will have to go shopping sometime." Aphrodite said.
"I would love that." I smiled.
"Tomorrow night we have planed a coming home ball for you tomorrow night so you can meet some of the other prominent gods." Zeus said to me.
"Truly?" I asked, excited by the idea.
He nodded his head.
"Indeed. It will be held in the great hall. You will walk in with my son and seat yourselves in the seats of honor then the gods will come to greet you one at a time." He explained.
"That sounds wonderful, thank you." I smiled.
"Have you decided if you are going to join the army?" Ennina asked.
I felt Ariston's emotions beside me and gave his hand a squeeze.
"I want to do my part, whatever that may be." I answered her.
"You are welcome to train with a squad. If you find it is not what you want we will not force you to stay, you will always have a choice. Understand that we cannot guaranty your safety if you join the army, all we can do is train you to the best of your ability and protect you as best we can." Ennina explained.
"I understand that, Ariston explained." I said.
"Do you have any questions for us?" Hera asked.
"I do have one. A friend of mine from school is a descendant. Aaron Rockford?" I asked.
"He would be mine, and fathers though me." Hermes announced with a broad smile. "He is a good boy."
Knowing that, I understood why Hermes looks so familiar, Aaron looks mostly like him except for his eyes.
"How is he?" I asked.
"He is doing well, you should go and visit him later, I am sure he would love to see you again." Hermes said.
I smiled and thanked him.
"Well I would love to stay longer but my good friend Travis is waiting for me." Hermes announced as he stood.
"Travis White?" Ennina asked, some what annoyed with the name.
"One in the same." Hermes said with a grin that turned into an innocent look. "Do you have a problem with that sweet sister?"
"Travis White is one of the most irritating men I have ever met and I do not know how you can stand his company." Ennina said to Hermes.
"It is only because we are so much alike." Hermes said, flashing his sister a crooked smile. She sighed.
"See that you do not get into too much trouble, I hate to be woken in the middle of the night." Ennina said.
"Since when?" Cronus asked her with a smile; she smiled to her husband, their eyes meeting then they laughed.
"Of course sister, we are just going hunting. Not to worry, I will be back in time for my duty." Hermes said.
Ennina looked towards her brother, however as her head turned her eyes stayed on her husbands for a time, caught in his gaze, before she looked at her brother. Ennina stood and went over to her brother.
"Have fun." Ennina said then kissed her brothers cheek.
"Don't I always?" he smiled.
He came over to me and Ariston and I stood.
"I hope to spend more time with you soon granddaughter." He said with a warm smile.
"And I you, grandfather." I said.
He gently kissed my cheek then looked at Ariston.
"Take good care of her." Hermes told him.
"Always." Ariston said, putting an arm around my shoulders and pulling me to him making my smile grow.
As I watched them laughing and joking I saw it, they are a family through and through. Hermes left in golden light.
After a few hours of getting to know the gods they rose.
"our duties call." Zeus said.
The gods said goodbye to Ariston and I and left the same way Hermes did.
"Would you like to go visit Aaron?" Ariston asked.
I smiled and nodded, Ariston took me into his arms and a moment later we were in a large meadow. Music was playing. I looked around and saw around a hundred men and women from the ages of fifteen to thirty all sitting around talking and laughing. The smells of chicken with rosemary, olives stuffed with feta cheese and a dozen other smells filled my nose and made me realize how hungry I was.
Many tables were set up with benches filled with people. I looked for Aaron.
"My lord, my lady." A man said with a bow of his head as we walked past.
Everyone looked over at us and bowed their heads. I saw Aaron before he saw me.
"My lord and lady." The woman whom was the oldest at the table looked to be around twenty-five.
Ariston and I bowed our heads. Aaron looked up then his eyes widened, the fork dropping out of his hand and making a clink when it hit his place. He looked at me as if he had never truly seen me before.
"Mera?" he asked in shocked amazement.
"Hello Aaron." I greeted him.
"Would you like to join us your highnesses?" the woman asked.
"Why don't you go ahead," I looked up at Ariston. "I have a few things to take care of. Call for me when you are ready." Ariston said.
I smiled and nodded.
"I will, thank you." I said.
He caressed my cheek, just as lost in my eyes as I was in his. He leaned down and kissed me sweetly, my arms went around his neck to deepen the kiss as we completely forgot about the others around us. Ariston had to end the kiss before it went further, my face was flushed.
We have time for that later, Ariston thought to me.
"Later." I agreed, then realized that I had spoken out loud and the voice I had spoken it in. I flushed from embarrassment.
Ariston had a huge grin on his face, he apparently though it was hilarious, as he kissed my forehead before disappearing in golden light. I turned back to the table, some of the people were looking at me and some had the decency to pretend they did not see.
"Would you like to join us my lady?" the woman asked.
"Yes, I am hungry." I said.
Someone brought a chair up for me and held it out for me as I sat.
"Aaron, make the lady a plate." The woman commanded lightly.
Aaron was still gawking at me but began making me a plate of chicken, mashed sweet potatoes and seasoned French fries and olives stuffed with feta cheese. Some of the other men at the table were looking at my curiously.
"May I ask whom it is that honors our table with her radiant presence?" the woman asked with kindness in her voice.
"I am Mera Vandenberg, descendant of the twelve and of Pandora." I introduced myself.
Everyone looked shocked, I guess I am as rare as Ariston said after all. The knife slipped in Aaron's hand and he almost cut himself as he looked at me. The look on his face said it all. He knows about Pandora and her descendants.
"It is an honor to meet you my lady. I am Helen Rogers, leader of squad Alpha Omega Epsilon Delta Alpha." She introduced herself.
"Here you are." Aaron said a moment later, handing me the plate.
"Thank you." I said to him with a smile, picking up an olive and biting into it, it was ripe and delicious.
"You're welcome my lady." Aaron replied.
"Aaron, we have known each other for three years, I think you can call me by my first name." I said with a laugh.
I ate my food.
"Who was the god you kissed?" one of the young women at the table asked.
"Ariston, son of Zeus." I said with a smile.
"You are lucky." She said.
"I happen to agree." I said.
"How many descendants are there on Olympus?" I asked Helen. I would have asked Ennina earlier but I did not think to.
"Currently there are around three hundred thousand descendants on Olympus and other mountains in Greece. There are another two hundred thousand active descendants on Earth that are descended from the Twelve." She said.
"Impressive." I said with a smile.
"The other factions of gods have their own armies throughout the worlds. Our force is one of the largest." She said.
I began eating again, when I was finished I wiped my hands on my napkin and rose.
"Thank you for the food and for welcoming me to your table." I thanked them as Ariston taught me was proper.
"It was an honor my lady." Helen said.
"Aaron, would you like to go for a walk?" I asked him.
He nodded and stood; we walked off into the forest.
"You look beautiful." Aaron said.
"Thank you, the dress and the rest were gifts from Ariston." I said with a smile.
"I should have known he was a god." Aaron said with a shake of his head. "Figures."
"When did you find out who you are?" I asked.
"The day before yesterday. The shadows came after me, Kallisto appeared and fought them off." He said with a slight smile at the mention of her. "She told me who I am and told me to pack my things and tell someone that I got into another school." He said.
"How did you know I was here? Did Kallisto tell you? She said not to tell anyone." He asked, confused.
I blushed in embarrassment.
"Ariston told me, but only because I asked." I said.
"You are Pandora's descendant." He said.
"I am, Ariston told me what that means." I said.
"Tell me you are not going to join the army, tell me that you are going to marry that god you love so much and lead the life of a lady." He begged.
"You know me better than that." I said.
"You cannot the army." Aaron said.
"Now you sound like Ariston." I said.
"He is right. Mera this is no joke, you life, your very existence is endangered if you do this." He said, stopping and turning to me.
I stopped next to him and looked at him.
"It is my destiny. I cannot sit back and do nothing when the fate of the world hangs in the balance. What is one life, my life, compared to billions?"
"Everything!" he said. "Mera, you know what you mean to me. I cannot let you through you life away."
"There is no telling that I am going to die. There has never been a descendant such as me before, I am also descended from the Twelve and I have… other abilities." I said.
He looked confused.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
I looked down and with a single thought I brought a rock to eye level in between us, then lifted it up and spun it around above us. Ariston has been working with me on telekinesis. I could feel the rock in my mind, I could feel it's weight, I could feel it's cool surface. I looked at a tree and sent it flying that with another thought. It hit the tree just where I meant it to and released it.
"I thought only immortals and demi gods had abilities like that." Aaron said in awe. "How?"
"Ariston." I said with a smile. "I am sharing his abilities." Aaron was too stunned to speak. "So you see my friend, I am not completely helpless. I can protect myself far more than any other descendant and once I master fighting I will be even greater" I smiled. "It would be a true waist for me to not use these abilities for good, would you not agree?"
He nodded. I smiled. If only Ariston was this easy to convince.
Aaron and I walked and talked and even laughed some more for an hour or so.I looked up at the sun.
"The hour grows late, I need to be going." I said to Aaron.
"I'm glad you're here and that you know. It is nice to have someone from before here to talk to." Aaron said with a smile.
"I agree." I said.
Ariston? I am ready, I thought to my love.
A moment later Ariston stood next to me, he smiled and held his hand out to Aaron.
"It is nice to see you again Aaron." Ariston said in a friendly voice.
Aaron shook his hand.
"You too." Aaron replied.
I was grateful that Aaron was being pleasant with Ariston.
"I will see you later Mera." Aaron said.
"Until next time." I said.
Aaron turned and walked back down the path we came from.
"Did you have a nice visit?" Ariston asked.
I looked at Ariston and nodded then kissed him. I looked into his eyes, taking him in.
"Let's go home." Ariston said.
I nodded and he became that beautiful golden light.
