Chapter twenty-nine

Heart pounding? Check. Groggy? Check. Warmish? Check. Pitch-black dark? Check. In bed in one piece? Check. Feleti standing in the doorway? Che- Wha? Feleti standing in the doorway? What the dustbins was he doing her?

At once, I fixed my heated, angry gaze on him and his stupid, lit up red hair. "What the hell are you doing inSandy's house?" I asked, and then a cold wave of terror completely rushed over me. Disney. Crabsticks! "Where the hell isSandy?" I demanded, but the silhouette that was Feleti remained silent.

Damn it, talk you little… little… urgh! I didn't even know a word rude enough to describe him!

Feleti's blank (I suppose you people would say it was the face of someone who knew every little thing about you, or some crap like that) face stared down at me, basking in the light from the hall. My mouth began getting dryer and dryer as this bad feeling ate at me.

Where wasSandy? Was Disney here? Had they killed her? How could Feleti of owned us in like that, and how did he get inside?

At my obvious confusion, Feleti held up what looked like a key. "Skeleton Key, comes in handy for a lot of things." So, instead of climbing through windows, snaking through the plumbing, or even falling down the chimney, Feleti had used that?

"I thought they were a myth- Wait, what am I saying, why are you here and what have you done toSandy?" I demanded, angrily, fury licking at the sides of my vision as I got up and made a dangerous movement toward him, my mere position leaking with a 'don't mess with me' kind of vibe.

As if it would help, he gave me a smile. "She's downstairs."

If I could've breathed fire, I would've. "And? Well? Did you kill her? Did you shoot her like you shoot them? Huh?" I watched, the anger inside me almost enough to make me feel bad.

I'd been having a very bad week. I'd gone from a heartless nobody, to a very emotional ex-assassin in about a week, okay? I was not to be messed with and I would not takeSandy being dead very well.

"No." I must've missed something.

"What?" I spat out, like I was talking to the scum of the earth.

Feleti's glowing, cat-like green eyes struck into my face. "I didn't kill her. I accidently knocked her out when I opened the front door…"

I sneered, "Is there a difference?" At him, before taking another step forward.

When Feleti grabbed me, I thought he might be going to snap my neck. Instead, I found myself being ripped into his embrace, my stripy shirt being crushed beneath his fingers as he smashed me against his chest, and then there was his breath in my hair. I stayed frozen like that, my hands clawed just above his shoulder blades, while he buried his face into the crook of my neck.

After awhile, I could've sworn my neck was damp, but that would've meant Feleti was crying. Assassins didn't cry, I could now, but Feleti couldn't unless he wanted to get bitch-slapped.

Speaking of bitch slapped. "Let me go! Where the hell is the boss?" I screeched, struggling against him and pressing my fingers to where Feleti's skull hit the back of his neck, just in case I needed to take him hostage.

Then, suddenly, I was forced onto the floor. In a bellow of rage, I moved to attack Feleti, only to realise his body was completely and utterly limp. It was then and only then I notied the blood stains on his clothes, and the fact that he really was crying. And, just like Cain, thanks to the two cuts under his eyes, he too was crying blood.

Great, now I felt guilty.

"What happened?" I gasped out, shoving him off of me and rolling him over onto the floor. I looked down at him, something striking me clean into the heart, and I panicked at once.

Feleti ignored my question and instead put a hand to my cheek. "I'm giving you a chance. The boss left me alive to destroy you, takeSandy, find them, and get going before he kills you himself."

I growled. "He hardly left you alive Feleti, what the hell did he do to you?"

Again, Feleti ignored me. "I'll be fine, dumbass, now get going. That girl who looks like you is going to find you, she will. Don't worry about where you're going, just grabSandyand run. Those two assassins will be there too, the ones that kidnapped you. They'll find you."

Suddenly, Feleti gave a violent cough. Did he like getting this badly hurt just for me? "But-"

"Go!" And then, Feleti was silent. A trickle of blood ran from between his lips and, hastily, I pressed my head against his chest. I was greeted by the soothing sound of a very much alive heart-beat and sighed in relief before pulling back up.

He'd done all this for me… even if we were fighting now… "Thank you…" I whispered. "Thank you Feleti…"

And I don't know what made me do it, but, gently and hesitantly, I kissed him.
