Chapter 1

The city lights brighten the streets now. Once, this street was almost pitch black, no lights anywhere, only the stars to brighten the nights. But now the stars are invisible to me.
I loved sitting on the rooftops drinking blood and gazing up at the stars, giving me strength, but I can't now.
My race was strong and big enough to take over the world once, but since the stars have disappeared, so have we.
We can live without blood for weeks at a time when we have the stars to provide us with our strength.
All of the humans think we are heartless bloodsuckers, but I am proof that we are not.
We could once live with humans, but now we can't control ourselves, because we have to drink everyday to stay strong and survive.
I was once in love, she was beautiful, her long brown hair, eyes as blue as the day time sky. I had never felt feelings for anyone before that day I met her. I thought I was heartless, but she changed me, I couldn't stand to leave her that first couple of weeks, she had me hypnotized with her beauty without even realizing it.
I used to like the humans, I would even date them, but now they must pay, for they killed her.
Blood spills tonight.
