Verse 1
I keep on going back
To the past and making a list of the things we lack.
Starting with trust
And ending with the misunderstanding that broke us.
And while I'm at it,
The pieces just won't fit,
And I cannot help but keep thinking
How it would have went
If things were different….
Chorus
You should have been the right guy
And I should have known!
That I was in love-
Our feelings should have shown!
And you'd ask me out,
I'd say yes without a doubt
And then sounds of laughter,
Our happily ever after.
Curtain's closing; it'd all fade to black….
I just keep on going back….
Verse 2
Now look at what I did.
I didn't even realize I was in love, I was being stupid.
You found someone else
And that was the full stop to our story, everything failed.
And know that I try
To hide the tears in my eyes
But I cannot stop thinking about
How it would have went
If things were different…
Chorus
You should have been the right guy
And I should have known!
That I was in love-
Our feelings should have shown!
And you'd ask me out,
I'd say yes without a doubt
And then sounds of laughter,
Our happily ever after.
Curtain's closing; it'd all fade to black….
I just keep on going back….
Bridge
They said true love can overcome anything.
I know my love is true.
So that leaves me here to… point the finger at you.
I kept on painting pictures of a fairytale.
Then a wave just crushed it like it was a sand-castle.
You had no feelings for me, whatsoever.
Why do they all call me clever? (Huh!)
I am a fool, fool, fool
Cause I still keep on thinking
How it would have went
If things were different….
Chorus
You should have been the right guy
And I should have known!
That I was in love-
Our feelings should have shown!
And you'd ask me out,
I'd say yes without a doubt
And then sounds of laughter,
Our happily ever after.
Curtain's closing; it'd all fade to black….
I just keep on going back….
