Chapter 34
Pedro got Glenn to the 'car' as fast as he could, leaving behind the two former enemy infected. They were likely to behave and at this moment Glenn was the more vulnerable. The human smelling ill, his temperature rising. Pedro could feel his struggled pants of breath of his shoulder. He really wasn't well.
"Why did you realise this before?" Pedro asked, Glenn was showing signs of pain. Surely the human should of noticed something was wrong long before it started to affect him. The alpha would ensured his health before anything else that was going on.
"It wound! always hurt" Glenn commented, his tone slightly defensive, his next words completely in English and completely undecipherable to the infected who was carrying him. Pedro sped up slightly. He knew that when people were in great pain or were ill they reverted to there natural language. For infected this was grunts and whines. Not too unlikely the sounds wolves made to communicate to each other. It stood to reason Glenn would revert to English
Arato said something back making the man jump slightly. The next line was obvious to Perdo despite the fact it was in English. "You can speak English?" Arato only chuckled.
Once Arato got Glenn down to the car, Arato opened the thing. Pedro looked at it oddly, like it was some kind of wild animal which could attack at any moment. Glenn let out an amused chuckle and pulled and box towards himself. Arato picked it up and opened it for him.
Pedro placed Glenn back on his feet, letting the man sit in the boot of the car as he searched though the various vitals. A grimaced crossed the humans face as he pulled out a bottle which was almost completely empty. A curse left his mouth as he couldn't find any more.
"Glenn?"
The human reeled of a ton of human words, all of which meant nothing to Pedro, but apparently meant something to Arato. "He only has enough for one dose. He needs to go to his home as get more"
"Can't it wait?"
Glenn shook his head, and littered off another paragraph. This time even Arato looked slightly confused. "Something about, he won't last must longer without an injection, but once he starts he had to complete the amount of doses he needs or it won't work any more?" Arato looked at Glenn as if asking if that was right. Glenn nodded his head.
"He lives on Savino's land doesn't he?" Fausto said, "Which is ours now, so we could go and get what he needs. With the car it would only take a little while"
Glenn shock his head, looking at Arato and saying a list of stuff again. Arato nodded understanding.
"He says the roads are between there and here and blocked because of the river overflowing. If we want to get it, we have to walk"
"Drat"

"Too young to live without her own kind" Traversi butted in. "I was hoping your human would know how to contact someone who could help her"
At those words, Vito just stared at the girl. She couldn't have been older then ten years of age. But those haunted eyes were not a child eyes, but of someone who had seen too much for there young years. Which no doubt she had being a human survivor. Her eyes met his, and for a brief moment they looked each other over. Searching for intent, and in the case of the girl, whether she could trust him or not.
Vito pulled something out of his pocket. The commutator he had taken from Glenn to ensure he had control over when the man had contact with other humans. But Glenn needed a different one to get messages outside of the city, Vito knew this.
The girl shifted seeing the device, her eyes widening, tears swelling, "Glenn dead?" She murmured, assuming the worst from the fact the alpha male in front of him had the man's phone. Alti bounced her slightly, trying to stop the tears.
"No Glenn is fine" Travseri answered, surprising Vito with the fact he was speaking English. It was almost as broken as Glenn's infected, but it got the message across because the girl stopped tearing up and nodded.
"Why?" It was at times like this Vito wished he remembered more English. The girl had spoke and entire sentence and he had only understood one word. The word which made it a question. Travseri answered before turning to Vito.
"Do you know how to use that device?" He asked Vito.
"No, but i don't think it will work anyway. Glenn had to go to a communication relay to get a message out of the city and its not like there are any other humans in the city at the moment" Vito answered, flipping the device open and seeing if he made any sense of it. He couldn't make any. It was all numbers and small symbols, what they meant and how to use it was beyond him.
"Will you let Glenn go and call them?" Travseri asked, his eyes begging slightly. He couldn't force the other Alpha to do anything and he wouldn't dare attack a guest who had some in peace.
"Of course, but there is another problem. Glenn commented that at this time of year there is no one spare to go around picking people up from cities if they are endanger. It might be different with children but she may be stuck here until spring"
Traversi grimaced. "That's not good" He mused darkly, "She's scared of us and i doubt that will fade. We already have to keep someone with her at all times to stop her running off" The girl shifted slightly, whether she understood what was being said or not, Vito knew she would be able to guess they were talking about her. Humans, if Glenn was anything to go by, were smart and adoptable. but also very fragile. If this was how they started off, it was a miracle they lasted so long.
"Glenn is similar. The fear's fading but given a chance he will run. He's said he won't for a while but when spring comes..." Vito trailed off, "Well by then hopefully I have better control over him"
"True. Vito, is it worth you taking care of the girl? If she is stuck in this city until spring, it would a better situation if she was at least with someone who could understand her"
Vito looked at Traversi for a moment before looking back at the girl and sighing. "Guess I'd better really" How Glenn was going to react to this, he had no idea. He could only hope his pet was good with children. Also that he was behaving himself with Arato, he knew what the infected had planned and Vito wasn't a hundred percent sure that Glenn fully trusted Arato. Being forced into sex was one thing, willing doing it was another.

Fedele should have been pleased. Getting the rival next sorted was going easier then expected. But the conditions were truly the stuff of nightmares, even to the infected. Most of the infected were broken things, there were many who Fedele doubted for survive long. Vito protected his next, but they didn't hand feed them. People had to be able to take care of themselves. Children excluded.
Sighing, he frowned as he heard an odd noise in the distance. Looking up, he watched with wide eyes as a light sped towards him, hurting him. Yelling out, he dived back into the nest and out of the fray. The other infected all gathered around the doors and windows to see what had hurt the infected.
The strange noise turned off, but the lights remained, stopping anyone from going out and truly seeing what was there. Fedele moved back outside, using some debrief to shield from the burning light. His eyes widened as he saw what was there.
A human?
Riding one of the strange things which littered the city. But this one wasn't a husk like the others, but rather a shining clean version. The human himself looked smaller then Fedele but much bigger then Glenn. He had muscles. The clothes he wore barely seemed to contain the flesh. On his back were some guns. Each no doubt loaded from action.
Deep down Fedele realised what he was looking at. This man wasn't just a human. He was a warrior, a survivor and for what ever reason he had stopped at that nest. Which is when it hit Fedele. The nest was on the site where a market once stood, no doubt the man was hoping to find supplies. But there were none! If he came in guns blazing a lot of people were going to get hurt. Fedele was the strongest there at the moment, he had divert the man's attention from the market.
"Em, I'm in the city. Any clues to where he's being held?" The man spoke gruffly in english, pressing his hand to his ear. There was no reply that Fedele could hear but the man cursed slightly. Unlike his Alpha and a few others, Fedele could still understand English perfectly. It was odd how some could well and others had no chance. Fedele even knew how to speak a few words. Not a lot, but hopefully just enough to fulfil his duty as protector. To keep everyone safe.
"Well I'm outside the market now. Guess I start here"
