Bare-feet, I tap rhythms onto wooden floor
as my heart beats an unruly message.
I loveyouneedyouwantyou to be here
with me, darling.
I'm biting my cheek and twisting my hair,
tendrils snaking between anxious teeth.
Words have a habit of escaping me
in waterfall-style, pounding their feelings
into the oblivion that is pure force,
I'm a pure force.
Or maybe not. Define purity as innocence
and say I lost it long ago -
unless clinging to hope, having faith
is keeping the innocence alive.
I will always trust in you.
