When the Mask of Happiness No Longer Fits

Cold water fills my bones

I slosh as I walk down sidewalks

Dampness accumulates in my joints

Mold grows there in the dark

Movement gets harder

I seem to freeze

To the point

That my lungs

No longer move and

I'm not breathing

Death hangs on my face

Deeper and Darker

Than any birthmark or freckle
