The Siren's Song
Let us go then, you and me
We'll travel together across the sea
Seeking answers that are not yet known;
Let us go down the creaky docks
And board the ship as it rocks,
The waves crashing against its sides,
Moving with the coming tide.
Let us board the ship
And ignore the call.
Oh, do not listen, close your ears
Let us go and ignore our fears
In the water the Sirens sing
At least until the death bell rings
Aboard the ship we both sigh
Deep in the water the sea-girls sigh.
A minor setback we have caused,
A wrinkle in their plan.
A shriek, a giggle, a splash, and then
An eerie creepy silence.
If the tales are true, the Sirens real
Then next will come the violence
And indeed there will be pain
For the Sirens don't take lightly
The loss of a collectable soul.
There will be pain, there will be pain
The Sirnes take a soul, a spirit that is theirs rightly.
We took a chance by coming aboard
We knew the risk was high
And now we listen to the waves as they roar
The sound is quite dicieving
The time is nearing, it's coming my friend,
The sea-girls circle and try again
The phrase is true, seeing is believing
In the water the Sirens sing
At least until the death bell rings
And indeed there will be pain
And time to wonder "Do they dare?"
You see a flash of bright red hair
You know what's coming but can only stare-
We will say: "It is great beauty that they hold,
"But their eyes are dark, and lifeless, and cold,"
We will say: "Indeed great beauty they do hold."
Do they dare
Attack us now?
Barely a second goes by before they move
For they must, they took a vow
We knew that already when we first heard the call-
The call that brought us, that brought us here
A call that jumpstarts a sailor's fears;
Slowly the men start dying, each taking a great fall
Into the icy waters
Claimed by Posidon's daughters
We knew this would happen when we first heard the call-
Heard the voices that chill your blood,
Heard the singing that messes with your head.
And still more die, taking a great fall
A Siren emerges, covered in mud
And her stare make more drop dead
Claimed by Posidon's daughters
In the water the Sirens sing
At least until the death bell rings
But still we knew when we heard the call-
The music buliding, a crescendo
But in the moonlight the sea-girls become a foe.
We hear them laugh
As they overturn a raft
Causing yet another to fall.
Calimed by Posidon's daughters
Taken by the sea
In the water the Sirens cry
Because we simply will not die
A scream of anguish, a shout of torture
They watch us sail on by
And throw themselves into the crashing waves
Of the mercilless sea
Drowning till they die.
There ya go! Please let me know if you didn't understand the story in the poem and I will post a second chapter explaining it!
I hope you liked it. It took me like an hour to write. It was much better than my 'How Do I Love Thee' poem, but we won't talk about that...
