Wherever My Heart May Lead

Days in the summer passed, but for Levi, one day repeated over and over. He couldn't comprehend what had gone wrong or what was wrong with him. Tales Told By Dead Friends hadn't left his CD player in three weeks and Jason's voice was ever the same. He had packed his bags three weeks ago and was ready to leave for Florida. His band, Can You See The Sky, was going to use their band van to move all of their belongings to Gainesville. When the music finally stopped, Levi got out of bed to see what was wrong with the CD player. Great, he thought, I have probably destroyed the CD again. As he walked towards the stereo, the door flung open and blaring music filled the room along with the cries of three teenage boys. It was Aaron, Jake, and Tom, Levi's best friends/band mates. "Let's go, let's go, let's go!" yelled Tom. Aaron flung his arms up in the air and shouted, "Florida, get ready to see the sky baby!" Levi look shocked as his friends ran around his room picking up his bags and other random things. Aaron and Jake took off down the stairs; screaming and yelling as they jumped around with Levi's stuff. Tom was about to take off down the stairs when he turned around and look at Levi. "Uh, hello? Levi! C'mon man, grab anything else you need and let's hit the road!" Tom said. Levi looked at Tom in disbelief and then slowly muttered, "I'm not going..". Tom shot Levi a confused look and said, "Ahm dude, why not?" Levi shook his head and moved back toward his bed. He looked down at his pillow and said, "I can't go on anymore man, I just can't. I'm living behind this lie that everything will get better, and so far it hasn't because it never will. Without her I am nothing. I truly meant that when I wrote that song." Tom stared at Levi silently and watched Levi crawl back into bed. Tom gathered his thoughts and slowly approached Levi's bed. He sat down and Levi rolled away from him. Tom spoke softly to Levi," Look Levi, I know how much Abigail meant to you, we all do. But to be perfectly honest with you man, none of us liked her. You've never realized how bad she was for you. She brought you down to your lowest lows and criticized everything you did for her; she even hated our music. Everything she said was a lie because you know what? We rock and it is mostly because of you man. You are an amazing guy and I'm glad to call you my friend. If she doesn't see that, then screw her. She doesn't deserve you." Levi sat up and turned toward Tom, looking him dead in the eyes. "Do you really think my music is good man? I wrote a lot of it about her…" Levi said quietly. Tom laughed and said, " Dude if you wrote all of those amazing songs about such and ugly and evil girl, then I cannot wait to hear what you will write when you meet a beautiful and amazing girl that takes your heart." A smile spread across Levi's face and he patted Tom on the shoulder. "Thanks man, I appreciate it," Levi said. Tom laughed and said, "No problem bro. Now put some pants on, grab anything else you might need, and let's get out of here!" Levi hopped out of bed, tossed on some jeans, and took off down the stairs after Tom. They both jumped in the van and took off for Florida.
