i have a beautiful sister
&& i should not be jealous,
but i am. she glows, when she smiles;
and her eyes are bright
when she speaks.

i wish i could emanate that,
wish i could have the light she does.
and i know she has not always
been so happy,
i know she has overcome
as many obstacles as i have.

&& yet, she has come out
strong and aware,
facing this world, unafraid.
the monsters in her closet
have long since fled.

i wish i could be more like her,
but i don't know how to
move on.
