SLASH/COMPLETE Worst. Summer. Ever. All because of a few strippers and a car in a pool. That doesn't justify sending me to Crapville, Arizona and...wait who's the sexy shirtless and...shoeless guy getting out of that sexy muscle car?

Defibrillation of a Star
Chapter 20: Someone like You
The fucking first day of senior year. I always thought that it would be a million times more exciting than this. But I was still being emo after the break up between me and all of the shit I went through trying to get over Hal, including Rick…Fortunately, I had gained some of my snark back. I didn't want my position to shift when I got back to school. Regardless of a break up, I was Jason Fucking Palmer, and I was fabulous …bitch! But still, my mood wasn't all the way back to normal. I was still a little bummed about what happened. I'm pretty sure showing up to school and being able to tell my boyfriend that I loved him and I'd see him later, would make my day every day, but hey, we don't always get what we want. Especially if we fucked it up on our own.
"Hey, babe." Carrie said kissing me on the cheek.
"Hey." I said, trying to fake my enthusiasm.
"You don't have to fake it. For these few seconds you can put the happy mask down." She said.
I grabbed her and hugged her, burying my head in her chest, "This sucks." I mumbled.
She scoffed, "I'll let you know that many men tell me my boobs are quite nice!" she said trying to sound shocked.
I didn't laugh, just sulked some more, "Damn, that one usually works…Jason…it's been 3 weeks since you guys broke up, and you've only just now gotten to hiding your pain for people. You really gotta start getting over him. It's our senior year. It's our year. We're the big dogs on campus. We own this fucking school. And I can't have you moping over someone who's not here. Besides we have Pre-Calc next and I need you to not be a downer, okay?" she said.
I nodded. She smiled, "Now here," she said fishing around in big purse/back pack, "Take this Blow-Pop, it'll make you feel better." She said as we sat down and got prepared for our first day of Pre-Calc.
As we all get situated a short blond kid walked into class.
"Whoa," Carrie began, "Isn't he a little too young to be in Pre-Calc?" she asked.
Geoff slid in the seat in front of me he looked up and for a second he froze, "Y-Yeah, that's what I thought, but apparently…he's like some super genius kids who skipped two, um…two grades?" He said a little frazzled and then looked at me, "Feelin' better?"
"I should be asking you that. Looks like you've seen a ghost." I said.
He laughed nervously, "Heh, yeah."
"Still doesn't explain why he's in Pre-Calc, shouldn't he be in like Algebra II?" Dylan asked, sitting down in the seat next to me.
"That'd make sense." I said flatly.
"You still owe me for fighting Rick…for the 5th time." Dylan said.
I sighed heavily.
"What's wrong with him?" Dylan asked Carrie and Geoff.
"Bad break up." Geoff said.
"Oh, like how you 'used Carrie as your fag hag earlier this summer, for your dad' bad break up, or actual he was in love bad break up?" Dylan asked being funny.
"Ha. Ha." Carrie began, "No it was actually very serious." She said brushing some hair out of my face.
I smacked it away, "Ugh. Not now, there are people watching, I have to seem happy." So, I let out a deep breath and smiled.
"Wow," Dylan began, "you're trying way too hard to fake that."
"Shut up, Dylan," I said dropping the smile for a second, "Or I'll rip that hideous neon Mohawk from out of your head, kay?" I said fiercely.
"Jeez, don't be such a bitch." He said.
I rolled my eyes. I can see why I broke up with that bastard now. The little blond kid at the front of the class came and sat down a seat behind Dylan, as Nameer strolled into class.
"Sorry guys, I was having trouble getting here, mom was fussing me out." He said sitting down next to Carrie. He peered over his desk at the kid, "Hey…ummm you in the right class, kid?" he asked him.
The kid looked up frantically. He had these horrible thick rimmed glasses that did not make him look like a hipster, this really bad greased back hair-do and worst of all; I could've sworn a closet form the 90's threw up on this kid. And not in the good way. Outside of that, if you took away the glasses and did something with the hair. I don't think he'd be half bad.
"Y-yeah, Pre-C-Calculus…right?" he asked nervously. We all nodded.
"Yeah," Dylan said leaning in on the boy, "He's in the right class. He's a fucking Brainiac. How bout you move to this seat next to meet so I can cheat off of you. I'll make it worth your while pip squeak." He said with a wink.
The kid scanned all five of us, stopping more on Geoff then the rest of us. He shook his head and kept looking around.
I sighed, "Dylan stop being a creeper." He sat back in his seat and pouted as the emotionally distraught boy behind him stood there disturbed.
"What I was just trying to have some fun?" he said.
"Fun," Carrie began, "Does not include harassing fresh meat." She pulled out her phone as more students filed into the room.
She looked at the phone and squinted, then she smiled wide and squealed, "Oh my god!" she exclaimed.
"What?" Geoff asked.
She showed Geoff the screen, "Ohhhh…I knew it." He said with a smile.
"What?" I asked my curiosity now peaked, "What is it?"
Carrie blanked for a second and then came back, "Oh, it's this pair of shoes!" she said showing me the phone.
A pair of flesh toned peep toe pumps. Cute but nothing to go psycho for, "Okay…I thought you had a pair." I asked, a little skeptical about her excitement.
"I do…but my dad found them in red, yellow and electric blue so he's getting me those too." She said.
"Oh." I said as she continued to lament on these shoes.
I sighed and looked out the window and waited for the class period to pass by.
And for every car that passed the window I was looking out of, I hoped that one of them would've been that 1971, Cherry Red, Plymouth Barracuda.
"Dylan Hanes" the teacher called out.
"President of the United Fucking States, Aki, Here, in the house, biotch!" he exclaimed.
The teacher looked over her glasses, "I'll let it slide since it's the first day.
"Geoff Johnson."
"Present." He said.
"Nate Juniper."
"H-here." The little blond kid called out, raising his hand.
"Nameer Kariff" she called.
"Here" Nameer said.
"Jason Palmer." She called.
"Here…unfortunately." I said.
- She looked at the phone and squinted, then she smiled wide and squealed -
Unfortunately, for the day, I'd found that I had every class with Carrie so I had to see her happy ass attitude all day long. As we were walking to the car parking lot so she could drive me home, she stepped out of the school looking as though she was trying to find someone.
"Look can we just cross the empty street now?" I said a little annoyed with her.
"Wait a second, Jason." She said.
"Look, I'm going to your car," I said walking into the street, "You can come to it when you're ready." I said looking back at her.
I walked into the street when I heard a horn and instinctively put my hands on the hood of the car, "Hey watch where you're going assho–" I began before I really noticed what was going on.
I looked at the red car beneath me. The car was a make that you couldn't find anymore. A rare car. One that couldn't have been built after 1971. I let my eyes drift up to the windshield to see his face.
Hal's face. Looking into my own, that same devilish smile creeping across his face.
My eyes started to water as he got out of the car.
"Hal." I said quietly.
He grabbed the sides of my face and brought his lips to mine. The kiss was warm and made a bouquet of flaming butterflies light in my stomach…that's the best way I could explain it with words. The kiss only lasted for 5 seconds. But I imagined it lasting like in the movies when the camera moves around the two people for like minutes on end.
He broke the kiss and looked me in the eyes, "Don't you ever do any shit like that again, okay?" he said wiping a tear from my face, tears forming in his own. I nodded.
"How'd you…where did you…how come…" I said trying to find the right words for the moment.
"I've been texting Kaya and Carrie for the past week trying to figure out when I could come get you." He said.
"You mean, earlier today…" I began thinking back to when Carrie had gotten all excited.
"Yeah," Carrie said, "that was him texting me to tell me he was on his way."
"That means you have a phone, right?" I asked.
He flashed the black EVO in my direction, "And it's been bought with a legal job." He said smiling.
I kissed him again.
"I don't like to stay in one place long, soooo…." He said trailing off.
"You're leaving?" I asked him.
"Nah….nah, nah, nah…I'm just gonna stay here until you graduate, and then I'll follow you there. I'll try and control my urge to keep it moving…for you and everything." He said.
I smiled, "Okay." He kissed me again as Carrie, tried to start up a cliché slow clap. Someone else probably started with her to be an ironic ass hole and then another person and before you knew it, we had ourselves an old fashioned crowd clap going.
I heard a few people yell "Fags." But I didn't care, because I was proud of my boyfriend and 9 times out of ten my boyfriend could probably kick their ass.
We broke the kiss and looked into each other's eyes, "Hey Care–" I began.
"Ah, say no more. I'll tell them you caught a ride with Hal." She said.
"Oh they already know, it's cool." Hal said.
"Oh really?" I asked.
"Yeah, told them we were going out on a date." He said with a smile.
"Well let's go." I said getting into his car.
He started it up, kissing me on the cheek and drove off into the 3:05 afternoon sun. You know, this may not be the most conventional love story, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
And to believe that this all came from some crappy job at a cheap motel. Well guys I guess the most proper way to end this would be with a good old fashioned…
THE END!
