Dug deep in my soul,

are melancholy roots.

They feed on my spirit,

and hold me in place.

.

They tug and they pull,

they wrap and they bind.

The one thing that stunts them,

is the vision of your face.

.

Your smile blinds me with joy,

your eyes wash away my fears.

Into your arms I yearn to go,

where my troubles will dissolve away.

.

In the sound of your voice,

I hear my distractions drown.

When you draw near,

the rhythm of your breath makes me sway.

.

With you in sight,

the days have hope.

The lonely hours of night,

prove my heart true.

.

Wither these roots with your shadow,

lift me up with your favor.

Let me be the one who says,

"I love you."
