I gazed deep into your eyes and saw something there,
That I could not explain, so deeper I stared.
And the longer I gazed the more I was certain,
What I saw was your soul, no longer behind a curtain
And then you spoke, voice ringing so sweetly,
Like the song of an angel, I leaned in discreetly.
Then in a trance, I proposed marriage,
To sweep you away with a horse and a carriage.
When you said yes I dressed in my best,
But disease to soon stopped your heart cold in your chest.
I cried, I raved, I then took a breath,
Realizing we all must give way to death.
