Chapter 14

After class Jakub led the way to his room. Obviously, Shawn had something big on his mind because as soon as they got there he said, "Can we go someplace a little more private." And he rolled his eyes to the ceiling.

"Sure," said Scarlet, completely unenthusiastically.

Jakub pulled her away from where he thought Shawn could hear. "Are you serious, Scarlet? That's our spot. The only other person who knows about it is Carson."

"I'm pretty sure Shawn knows about it, too," she said a little louder than Jakub had. "Isn't that right Shawn."

"Well," said Shawn looking at the ground. "Yeah, actually it is. You pick up on this fast, Scarlet. You ever thought about—"

"Yeah right," Scarlet interrupted.

"Hmm. Impressive all the same."

What is with him? Thought Jakub. Is he trying to make a move on Scarlet or something? I swear if any guy does then I don't carewhoknows I'm dating her. She's my girl and it's going to stay that way.

"Scarlet," said Shawn gently. "Why don't you go on ahead? We'll meet you up there."

"Okay," said Scarlet. She opened the closet door and went up the latter without another word from anyone.

As soon as she was up, Jakub was about to say something to Shawn but was cut off.

"Look Jakub, I'm not trying to steal Scarlet. She's yours. That's cool. You guys are a cute couple."

"You better believe it."
