Strange Happenings

~Alice's Point of View~

Sunlight streams into my room through my open window. I open my eyes to be blinded by the light, "Oh god." I sit up and sheild my eyes with my hands. "Why the hell is the sun so freaking bright!" I yell, "Good morning to you too." my sister, Athena, says while flashing me her usual stupid grin at me, while she steps into my room. "Get the hell outta my room!" I yell while throwing a pillow at her, she quickly moves behind my bedroom door. "Fine I see how it is, whatever then I'm not responsible if your late for class, and remember what Ms. Anders said," she moves back into my room "If your late for class one more time you'll be suspended" she says while trying to impersanate my homeroom teacher. "Ok ok, but you have to leave," I start pushing her out the door "'Cause I am not changing in front of you" I slam the door behind her "Whatever Alice!" she yells from behind the door. I sigh and look at my reflection in the mirror, I am such a mess I start brushing through my long black hair, which now reaches down to the middle of my back. I put my contacts in and notice that my eyes, which are usually a dark purple colour, are lighter then yesterday. Good I could use a good day I think to mself. I look over at my clock 7:45 Frick I'm gonna be late, again! I quickly pull on my uniform and rush downstairs where my mother, sisters, and brother are also preparing for the day. "Good morning Alice" my mother says sweetly, just like she does every morning. I go and grab an apple from the bowl on the counter, " morning mum." I take a bite outta the apple, put my shoes on and before I run out the door something on the television catches my eye. " Dante, Turn up the T.V my brother quickly turns the volume up. "... The police now believe that suspects for the 16 women are part of a vampiric cult..." We all stare at the T.V for a moment then burst into laughter. "Vampiric cult, That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of!" laughs Athena who could barely contain herself. My mom and brother agree. I quickly notice the time 8:00 "Gotta run!" I yell, already halfway out the door, "Okay just watch out for the vampires!" Dante jokes. I snicker as I walk over to my stop and wait for my stupid bus.

As I arrive at school about 10 minutes before classes begin I wander around the campus and find a tall, skinny, dark haired guy walking around the campus. I immediately recognize him, his name is Leon,Leon Caine 2nd year like me. Unlike me however, he can drive and I am still stuck on the bus. I run over to him and hold my hands over his eyes. "Guess who?" Leon just smirks "the game? or the person covering my eyes?" He grabs my hands and takes him off of his eyes. He turns and faces me, "What do you want, wonderland girl?" I smile, "To drink tea with the mad hatter of course." we begin talking while heading towards our lockers. A girl wearing bunny ears walks up to us. "now, now love birds no flirting in the school." we both start to blush, "shut up Zavia" I say meekly " We're not dating! I mean we're childhood friends, we grew up like siblings. Dating him would be like dating my brother!" "Plus," Leon adds "I don't think either of us have 'those' kind of feelings for each other." "exactly." I say. she looks at the two of us, with an extreamly serious look on her face, "You say that now, but one of you will end up having feelings for the other. It always happens to people like you." Then as usual she goes and does a 180 in personality and says "Well the bells gonna ring soon, so I'll see you two in class!" she waves at us and skips off to homeroom. "she's very strange." I look up at Leon, "you just figured that out?" We grab our stuff from our lockers and head to homeroom.

We sit in our usual seats, although Ms. Anders doesn't assign our seats we pretty much just stay in the same seat. Leon, Zavia and I sit in the three seats closest to the door, which also just happens to be in the back of the room, so Ms. Anders doesn't usually notice if we sneak into class late, lately she's been busting me for everything and anything she can. Seriously, she is such a pain. So instead of getting in trouble for being 17 seconds late to class. Leon and I go to class early. Zavia lied about going to class, which wasn't very shocking considering she usually doesn't bother showing up to Ms. Anders' classes. So we just chat in the class waiting for home room to begin. "So have you heard about the newest info they have on the murders yet?" He asks me, "What you mean the vampiric cult thing? That's probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard anyone say." He looks at me with disbelief, "You mean you haven't heard the Identity of the newest body yet?" I shake my head, "No why? Is it important I mean all of the others were just Hookers and drug addicts." He looks into my eyes, with a solemn expression "She was Identified yesterday as Maria Ramino." I instiatly recognized her name. She was in my class, she sat directly in front of me, and she used to be one of my best friends. The images of the body rush into my mind and I feel sick to my stomach. "Alice," Leon puts a comforting hand on my shoulder, "Are you going to be ok?" He looks at me, his light blue eyes looking at me with genuine concern. I take a deep breath and try to recollect my self. "yeah," I say meekly "I'll be ok." I smile weakly, not convincing him that I am, or will be, alright. Ms. Anders walks into the class as the bell rings and begins the leson immediately after roll call. No one mentions Maria for the entire day.

At the end of the day Leon and I wait at my bus stop, Zavia who usually went home with me was at a trake and feild practice, as I see the bus come from aound the corner I turn to leon, smile and say "Mmmkay, I'll see you tomorrow." He smiles back at me "Yeah, just be careful, ok?" hug him, "yeah I will. You too, ok?" I turn back and board the bus. I move towards the back of the busand listen to music untill I get off of the bus at my stop. As I walked home I could never quite shake the feeling that something or someone was following me, I immediately think that I'm just being paranoid, as most girls within the city are, after all the girls that were murdered were all from differnt parts of the city. I finally arive home and as soon as I get in I lock the door, as one of the many safety precautions the city is taken to avoid any more murders, obviously that hasn't been working very well. No one really listens to the 'guidelines' and the people that do, wouldn't be targeted even if they were the last people on earth.
