Shining Light
We sat on the country road
By the creek where the water flowed
The sky dimming dusk, a pale blue
The ghostly pictures of me and you
We talked in the grass
The lightning crashing through the pass
Between the trees and the moonlight
Dreaming of pasts of loss and might
With the fireflies glowing all around
They match the shine of our small town
We take off running, going far
Knowing nothing can change who we are
We are special, one of a kind
Letting society leave us behind
As free as air, on the open plain
Standing breathless in the rain
So similar, nearly the same
Not going back the way we came
Looking for our own love
Finding hope in the stars above
