Putnam City Horrors

Pitch black is all that is seen. There's a single speck of light that I see that I think is a star.

"What is this light?" said the psychiatrist.

It's… some sort of… light post.

"Is there anything else that you see, Darhien?"

No, just that. But I… I hear things.

"What sort of things?"

…Whispers. They're talking to me…

"What are they saying?"

…I can't tell. But it's about me… I can feel it. The light is pretty… I need solace. I need comfort.

"Darhien, I want you to tell me what you see or hear when you get to the light post."

… the whispers are louder. The closer I get… the louder they get.

"Do you see anyone?"

…No… Oh no…

"What's wrong Darhien?"

The whispers… they're… they're everywhere! I can't… I feel… I can't breathe!

"Focus Darhien! What do you see?"

… Dear God… I feel them… HIM… coming…

"Can you see him? What does he look like?"

… The whispers are gone… but I'm still shaking… He's still there… He's… waiting… for me…His shadow is over me…

"Darhien, can you-"

I SEE HIM… HE'S… AAHHH!

"Darhien! What does he look like!"

THOSE EYES!… THOSE HOORIBLE-

Darhien throat begin to clench and she was gagging. Her hands are around an invisible arm, struggling to survive against her invisible foe who's strangling her.

"You will wake up in 3!… 2!… 1!…"

The psychiatrist snapped his fingers. Darhien woke up with no knowledge of what happened.

"Did… did it work?" The psychiatrist didn't reply.

"I'm sorry…" said Darhien.

"It's not your fault. You did what you could. But if you want, we could make an appointment next week."

"I don't wanna go through that again." The psychiatrist didn't respond.

"Well then, we'll see what the police and the forensic team can do about it. In the meantime, get some rest. You'll need it." Darhien walked out the door. The psychiatrist was stunned to see marks on her neck as if someone really did try to strangle her. She suddenly stopped at the doorway.

"Dr. Roseman?"

"Yes, Darhien?"

"… Do you believe me?" There was a moment of silence.

"I don't know what to believe anymore."

Darhien walked out the door and an investigator walked in.

"So?" he asked.

"She mentioned something about the eyes."

"What about them?"

"I don't know, but it seems to me that those were the one thing that distinguished from the rest of the body for her."

"So that's it? No piercing? No cuts? No missing eyes? Nothing at all that seemed unusual about them?'

"I've told you everything I know," said Dr. Roseman with a serious tone of voice.

"Don't mean to get you frustrated, James, even though you already are, but do you really believe this girl? I mean, the doctors already told us she isn't pregnant and it's been two years. I'm starting to think she's just a crazy bitch who wants attention."

"I don't believe it Dillon." Dillon, the investigator, stared at Dr. Roseman.

"I didn't believe what I saw. But I still saw it. The woman was clearly being strangled during hypnosis. That's not something that happens a lot in hypnosis. My eyes didn't believe it." Dr. Roseman looked at Dillon.

"But I saw what I saw. No matter if I believe or not." Dillon looked down in disappointment, disappointed that he won't let this case go.

"Well you believe whatever you want. I got a case I need to investigate." Dillon left the office leaving Dr. Roseman to ponder.
