What I Learned In School
Written Spring of Senior Year of High School
I've been through twelve years of school and over these past twelve years I've learned a lot. But while reflecting on these lessons I have learned I realized that I've learned just as many lessons outside the classroom as I've learned inside.
At my school,at the end of tenth grade every student has to complete a Division One Exhibition binder that is a compilation of your work over the first two years of high school. Throughout all the hustle and bustle of collecting the work and reflecting on my weaknesses and strengths I learned a lot about who i am as student, as a friend, as a person. I learned that even though I have a learning disability I can still achieve a lot of the same educational goals others do just with a little bit of extra help.
My school is very unique school for within it's mission statement it says that we have to "push our comfortable limits" Math has always been a hard subject for me and last year I can most definitely say i had the best experience ever in math. Through all the basics of learning linear equations and the other things we learned I learned the bigger aspect that math isn't really as hard as it appears to be and with extra help along the way I realized that if i really take my time and don't rush I can do it.
And now, looking outside the classroom to the social scene one of the biggest lessons I have learned over the past four years is that you have to choose your friends very wisely. I went through a rough experience sophomore year with the people on the cheerleading team. This experience helped me to realize what a true friend is and how many of the people on that team are my true friends. (most of you know who you are). My closest friends have always been there for me through the tough times and made laugh until i almost cried rivers of endless tears from laughing so hard. Thanks to all of my friends for being there and for being yourselves I love you all
And throughout these past four years of high school, for the greater good of my myself and fellow man or woman this is what i have learned in school.
