Virtues of Sleep

Your open your eyes

The light is blinding

You close them hurriedly

And crack them open

With all the grace you lacked last night

Tired

Bored

Overworked

You had fallen into bed

Clumsily

Like a sack of potatoes

Your head nestled in the soft pillow

Your body cocooned in an endless quilt

You slept like the dead

Dreamlessly

Moving not a muscle

But now you're awake

And there is a blur of colour

You would have cringed last night

But today, this morning

You welcome it

The sleep did you good
