Run.
My battered brain pounds with blood
As I sprint on the road to no-where.
My bleeding feet beat the mud
but of that I'm barely aware.
Arms spread out into the trees,
I wish to be a bird
And fly away into the breeze,
Never to be returned.
Red and blue freeze the sky
with a piercing siren to match.
But freedom calls and I have to try
To get there without a scratch.
The sirens leave me in my stride,
For now I'm unprepared.
I look around; there's no-where to hide.
I must never admit I'm scared.
