"Writing is an outlet for your emotions when you're not allowed to let them show." - me

On that warm September morning
My heart anew as spring
The world offered me nothing
Yet I still wished for something.

I swore I'd never find it
But I was proven wrong.
My longing soon subsided
You were waiting all along.

On that brisk October morning
My heart tarnished by harm
Though broken I was, I had you
Your friendship kept me warm.

On that bleak December morning
When all my world had fell
You wrapped me in your kindness
And there you held me well.

But when my darkest hour came
I cried out – you were gone.
My heart was shattered;
I had seen it coming all along.

For I was never yours, my dear
And you were never mine.
You'd want someone to call your own
It was only a matter of time.

And though you were my everything
I never would be yours
I'd have to fight alone again,
Alone again once more.

But what doesn't kill you strengthens you
And here I stand today
I've found someone who cares for me
And vows to never stray.

Although the past still stings me
When it visits now and then
I know I'll never have to face
Such hardship once again.
