when we were young,
i'd twirl in my reddest dress
& let the wheat fields gather at my ankles
let the burrs stick to my socks,
& you'd laugh & say
"i told you so"
when i'm tugging them out of the tight white knit.
when we were young,
we were yesterday.
i miss that.
