Orginally, I wasn't going to post this story on Fictionpress. But I changed my mind. I'm going to...or not. It depends on YOU. Do you want me to continue posting it or not? And yes, I know that this(the idea) is cliche. I'll do my best to make it different and stand out.
I'm not perfect, so there will be some errors in this chapter and the next (#) chapters. Enjoy.
Hello, my name is Camilla, but just call me Cami. For those of you who are wondering, I have strawberry blonde hair and light blue eyes. I'm also heterozygous-my mom is an angel and my dad is cupid. Sometimes I like being a mix, but sometimes I wish that I was just normal like everyone else. Anyways, let me start the story…
Chapter 1-A meeting at a café.
"Cami!" Called my mother.
I rolled my eyes. What in the world did she want? I rolled off my bed and hit my head on the floor.
Ow. I thought to myself. That freaking hurt. Note to self: Don't do that again!
I slowly got up and ran down the stairs. My mom was at the bottom of the stairs and her pale arms were crossed. My mom has shiny gold hair and watery blue eyes. Her thin lips were pressed in to a line.
"What is it?"
"Your dad wants to talk to you."
She shrugged. "He didn't say why but he has to leave soon because he wants to see his wife."
"Where is he?"
I nodded. "Thank you."
When I walked outside, he was sitting on one of the brown rocking chairs.
"Why did you call me here?"
"You are almost 18 years old."
I shook my head. "Dad, I was born in January. It's August."
"I know that honey. But I have to tell you something important."
"What is it?"
"It's time to do my job."
I just nodded. Where was he going with this?
"In other words, I want you to help other people find love. Although there are some catches."
"What are the catches?," I asked him.
"1. Thou shall not fall in love at all. 2. Thou shall not trick the client. 3. Thou shall stick with his or her client 'til the task is complete. 4. Thou shall not have any sexual attraction. 5. Thou shall care for the client by helping it."
"What happens if I break a rule?"
Cupid frowned. "You die."
"But wouldn't I go to heaven?"
He shook his head. "Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. The head angels can punish you…or not considering that your mother is the queen angel. Anyways, here is a book."
My dad handed me a big, brown, hardback book. "Take care of it and read it!"
I put on my white café uniform and looked at myself in the mirror. My blue eyes were bright and my hair was in a loose ponytail. Then my uniform was nice and neat. I ran downstairs, said my goodbyes, and drove to the bakery that I work at. The bakery was a nice shop. The walls were light orange and white. Then store was medium sized like Dunkin Donuts, Subway, or Starbucks.
It was Moira, my best friend. She had auburn hair and green eyes. Moira was a few inches taller than I was. I had known her since preschool.
"So I heard that your dad talked to you and you have another job. What is your job?"
I looked at the clock. It was 5:59 pm.
"I'll tell you later. It's time for my shift."
Moira pouted. "Fine. I'll squeeze the info out of you later."
Then she left and I got behind the counter.
Dang it, dad didn't tell me when my other job starts. I wonder why I can't fall in love. But then again, who in the world would fall in love with me? I'm just the semi-smart quiet girl who happens to be half-angel and a demigod. I don't even know if I'm alive, dead, or in between. Mom was an angel when she got drunk and had sex with a drunken Cupid. Grr, this is so confusing. I'm 17 years old and I don't know if I'm dead or alive. How stupid is that?
"Hi?," asked a nice, manly voice.
I looked up into dark brown eyes.
"Can I have something to eat?"
For once in my life, I felt speechless. The guy in front of me was hot. He had black hair with some red streaks, a sly smile, snow-white skin, a nose piercing, and he was decked out in black. The only thing that turned me off was the evil radiating off of him.
"Sure…what do you want?"
He shrugged. "I don't really know…what is your name?"
The boy half smiled. "Yes. You don't have a name tag on."
"My name is Camilla. What about you? What is your name?"
"The name is Phoenix." He looked up at the menu poster, then back down at me. "What should I get?"
I shrugged and leaned against the counter. His brown eyes bore into my blue ones. I quickly looked away and I think that I saw him blush.
"I'll be right back."
I walked away from Phoenix. Dang it, he was hot-but I know who he was. Phoenix was the devil's son. Angels and demons didn't mix at all. Just like nerds and a person on the top of the social ladder. Or the president and a beggar. Once I got to the glass case, I pulled out a plate of pastries. When I got back to Phoenix, he was taping his pale fingers against the marble counter, impatiently.
Phoenix growled. "That was long."
I rose my eyebrows, and then furrowed them. "It was only 2 minutes, chill out dude." I handed him the plate. "Here, you can taste all of them, then I'll get more of your favorite, got that?"
He snatched the plate away from me and sat down at one of the tables, like he owned the place. This guy was good looking, but his personality? His ego was too big for me and his father was the freaking devil. But then again, of course the devil's child would act like Phoenix was acting right now. It shouldn't have come across of as a surprise. Besides, it wasn't like I would see him again. After this, I wouldn't have to with his rudeness and cockiness. He would be a faint memory.
I watched Phoenix frown at me. "Hey, I'm not that bad."
He wasn't bad? Sure. The day that he wasn't bad would be the day that the sun turned red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet at the same time. Which meant…never. Yes, I know, angels are supposed to be nice, but he was making me mad. Maybe because he was the devil's son? It was a possibility. But part of me wasn't mad/annoyed. Strange. I rolled my eyes.
"You don't believe me?," he asked while eating-with his mouth full.
I looked away from him. "You are one despicable creature."
When I looked back at him, Phoenix looked me square in the eye. Grr, the nerve of him. He was bringing out my human side-my dad's side.
"I thought that angels were nice."
I shook my head. "When you don't annoy them, yes. And I'm half angel, half demi-god. So I can be rude and mean. But most of the time I'm sweet and caring…unlike demons."
He look offended. "Hey. I get my bad blood from my dad. My mom is pure goodness though."
I laughed. "You? Good? Yeah right. You know, I shouldn't even be talking to you. Angels and demons aren't a good combination."
"Says the angel committee. Now will you leave? I have to close the store in a few minutes! My parents will get worried about me if I don't get home soon!"
Phoenix frowned. "Fine. I'll leave." He got up, knocked the plate off of the table, then left without looking back.
I shook my head. Demons. Always so…mean? I didn't know what to call them. Phoenix was the first demon that I've met…and he didn't leave a good impression at all. One moment he was somewhat nice, then a second later he would be rude and mean. Phoenix confused me. Stupid mood swings. Hopefully I would never see his evilly handsome face again. I cleaned up the mess that he made and closed the shop.
"So you are done."
I jumped. Where did the voice come from? I'm pretty sure that it came from my right. I looked around. Phoenix was leaning against a wall and there was some green stuff in his hand.
"Ugh! I thought that you were gone! Stupid demons…why are you still here?"
"I forget to pay."
He walked over to me and handed me the money. Then Phoenix left without saying bye…but then again, devils were manner-less creatures. Anyways, I got into my car and drove home while listening to some pop music. Once I got home, I put the money on my dresser, got dressed and went to bed.
One thing that I don't know-Is she dead, alive or inbetween? Her dad is a god, but her mom is a dead angel. I'm confused. Anyways, review? And Phoenix isn't an ass. Camilla is just assuming things.
