This Feeling
Author:

I want stolen moments behind trees or in the parking lot where no one can see. I want everything the stories tell us to want. Mostly, I just want you.

It's just… this feeling I get
When I look at you and see you smile
It seems like you could be exactly who I want you to be
But then again, no one ever is
And there are so many flaws within you
But I see all of them
And I still don't care
I just want you

I just want you to want me
Because of this stupid feeling I get
Every time I see you smile
Or laugh
And I have to wonder
Would you ever smile or laugh like that
At something I said?
Could I light up your world
The way you seem to light up mine
I'm left praying that the answer is yes
Yet expecting the answer to be no

Really, I just want a moment with you
I want to look into those green eyes
And know exactly what they're trying to say
I want to smile at you
And have your smile mean the same
I want to hit your knee
Or push your foot away
Or steal your water bottle
And be so comfortable with you
That you just laugh and nudge me back
As you try to grab the bottle out of my hands

I want stolen moments behind trees
Or in the parking lot where no one can see
I want long phone calls at 3 AM
Or drives to your house in the middle of the night
Because we just couldn't stay away any longer
I want everything the stories tell us to want

But at the same time, I don't want disappointment
I want to understand
That stories aren't always based on reality
That sometimes the most precious moments
Are so simple you don't recognize them until they've past
I want to just hold your hand
Or drive with you in silence
To sit against a tree with you
Shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip, ankle to ankle
All the way down until there's no part of me
That isn't touching a part of you
