I stare straight ahead.
My eyes blur.
No, not here.
Please.
I can't start now.
Brake lights appear.
My mind blanks.
What do I do?
"Slam on the brakes!"
My mind screams.
I do as I'm told.
I should be stopping.
But I'm not.
The car keeps sliding forward.
Smaller friction,
rain slickened road,
there's some physics explanation
my brain tries to process.
It knows the cause of glass shattering
metal crunching
airbag deploying.
I know, too,
but I don't care.
My arm is cut.
Blood is running down my arm.
I simple stare at it.
Watching as the red stains my white t-shirt.
I feel no pain.
My tears are gone,
replaced by simple
curiosity.
AN: This has no connection to my poem 'Nothing'.
