The City Exists

The lights flash all around me,

My eyes finally open,

My pulse finally heard.

Dreaming was too much for me,

So I'm finally awake,

From my tomb,

My watery grave,

Of sleep.

I listen to a symphony

Of beeps and honks and flashes,

Watching the freeway signs,

The cars,

Black, white, blue, red, yellow, green,

Speeding past in a blur of artificial life,

Letting me know that the city exists.
