I can breathe

Katie cradled the little warmth in her arms, pressing her nose against hers. A tear streaked down her red cheeks as she studied the new human in her arms. She was perfect in every way, every part of her made her complete. Her hair was just like his, beautifuly broze and shiny in even the dimmest hospitail light. She was skinny and elegant, a little lady. Her eyes were just like hers, just copied onto a smaller face. Her face was long with slighty chubby cheeks, and her smile seemed to make the rain lessen outside.

"She's so beautiful," she sighed in relief, feeling like her entire world had just come together with this baby in a green blanket, "I love her too much."

"She's perfectly healthy, you should be proud," the doctor smiled, playing with her fingers, "I'll give you some time." He exited, and her husband entered.

"She's ours, Lance," his wife smiled, beaming with joy and holding out their new child, "all ours. All this beauty."

He was still for a time. Suddenly, he bolted out of the doors, running like his lfie depended on it. Alarmed, she took after him, setting the child on the bed. Her knees buckled in the parking lot before his car, the rain soaking her totally.

"Where are you going?" she cried, horrified at the truth that was coming through.

"I didn't ever want that thing, Katiliyn," he snarled, "I'm outta here."

She barely rolled out of the way as he roared down the street. She collasped completley, like her world was crashing down. The doctors and nurses running to her seemed distante now as she crumpled into a writhering heap. She coughed, trying to let her pain out in sobs that would never come.

"I...I can't...I can't breathe!" she choked her final words before they got there.
