"I'm sorry?" Kelsey Schaefer asked her best friend in shock. The two were in Kelsey's bedroom, which had been painted a dark purple when she was seven. Kelsey would have painted it black, but her mom had said no, much to her dismay. So, Cammie had suggested the current color, since that was similar to the girl's favorite color. Kelsey had grouchily agreed. But now she liked it.

"I said, you are going to try out for the musical our school is holding," Twelve year old Cammie Labaski replied firmly. She munched on a pretzel. "You're really good at both singing and acting. So why not?"

"Because I don't likethat prissy stuff," Kelsey said irritably. "I'm much more into my martial arts. I have GOT to get my second degree black belt before your nine year old brother does."

"He's just very advanced in that sort of thing, Kels," Cammie said gently. "It's not that you aren't good at that stuff."

"Whatever," The brunette said with a roll of her eyes.

"Back to the play," Cammie interjected. "You should still try out. Josh, Erica, and I all are, and Dylan's doing backstage work."

"Why not on the stage?" The thirteen year said teasingly. She then laughed out loud. "Don't answer that."

"I won't," the blond answered, trying not to giggle at the memory.

(Flashback)

Scene: The auditorium at Darra Falls Elementary School. All of the first graders are scattered all around the stage, some nervous, others happily dancing around. Six-year old Dylan Norton is among the latter.

Dylan: (twirling around) I can't wait for the show to start! It's gonna be awesome!

Kelsey: This is a story about the first thanksgiving.

Dylan: So?

Kelsey: So it's boring.

Cammie: Kelsey, why would you think that? Thanksgiving is our time to give our thanks to the Pilgrims that came all the way from England!

Dylan: Where I'm from!

Kelsey: Uh huh.

Mrs. Everhart, first grade teacher: (claps hands) All right, boys and girls. Get into your positions! The play is about to start!

Kelsey: (mutters so only Cammie and Dylan can hear) No, duh.

Mrs. Everhart: Pilgrims over here, Indians over there, turkey over here! All right, the performance starts NOW!

(Play begins. Dylan as a turkey, Cammie and Kelsey as Pilgrims, and several other kids including Josh Harrison and Erica Overling come into the scene)

Josh (as William Bradford, governor): Oh, I see that thou have brought a turkey for us to eat at our thanksgiving meal! What a surprise!

Erica (as WB's wife, much to her happiness): Oh my, it sure is plump and ready to roast!

Dylan: (whimpers)

Cammie: (while waving arms in the air) Yes, my partner and I caught him while out hunting today. There were quite a few out there, but we thought this one was the best!

Kelsey: Yep.

Josh: Well, let's get this thing cookin'. Fire 'im up!

Dylan: NO!

(long silence)

Mrs. Everhart: (whispers from side of stage) Dylan, sweetie, you need to say the right line.

Dylan: NO!

Cammie: (now looking nervous): It's alright, turkey, we won't hurt you too much…

Kelsey: Yep, you'll be gone before you even feel it.

(Dylan wails louder, and Cammie glares at Kelsey. Kelsey just shrugs)

Mrs. Everhart: (now on stage and kneeling before Dylan): Hon, this is just a play, it's not real-

Dylan: (screams, rips off the turkey costume, and runs off the stage in his undergarments)

The girls started gasping for breath as they recalled the memory in their minds. "Poor Dylan," Cammie said between waves of laughter. " He was so embarrassed afterward, he wouldn't even come out of his room for two weeks except to go to school."

"God, that was funny," Kelsey replied, wiping her eyes. She then looked down at her hand with a disgusted look. "Shoot," she said irritably. "Now I have to redo my makeup."

"Which is why I don't wear any," Cammie replied with a chuckle. "Unless it's for a play." She wiggled her eyebrows.

Kelsey looked at her and sighed. "You know what?" she said. "I think I'll try out after all."

Cammie's mouth fell open. "Really?" she asked in awe. "But what about-"

"Looks like I'll have to defeat Ryan later," Kelsey said with a smirk. "I've got a musical to try out for."

Cammie squealed in excitement before collapsing on top of her best friend of nine years.

"NO!" the brunette screamed at her.

Cammie just laughed and threw a pillow cushion at her.

So, what do you think of my second fanfic about the girls so far? I like it better than my last one, definitely. This one will be maybe six or more chapters, depending on how the story flows.

PLEASE review and fave, okay? I want to know whether I'm doing a good job on writing or whether I need to improve some things. Got it? Good.
