I really liked you,

back then.

I even wrote

a really dramatic poem

about it.

But it's been more than a year now

and I've been over it.

A couple days ago,

I walked into a shop

and locked eyes

with a guy.

And I thought,

'He looks a little bit like you,'

but I couldn't match his face

to any name I knew.

As I pondered,

I stared

quite openly at him.

He peered,

awkwardly,

back to me

with his hands in his pockets

and his lips pressed together, sullenly,

in a frown.

Later,

when he was turned around,

I looked at his butt

and realized

he was you.
