The Hawk & The Dove

There was a dove,

A young and very mild dove,

Who flew alone and as he roamed

He searched the endless skies. For what?

He did not know.

One sunny day,

He spied a hawk so far away,

And though in fear he soon went near

To watch the bird of prey.

And then the stories say

This little dove,

This soft and very gentle dove,

Flew with the hawk, flew with the hawk,

And learned to kill. But still,

He was a dove,

A snowy white enchanting dove,

Who'd never know that when he chose to go beside the hawk

There was no turning back.

His feathers still were white-

His heart turned black.
