A Face

Putting on a face I'll find
That everything is so divine
Like love is airborne, wild and free
And life is watching over me.

The day flies by with utmost care
While laughter fills the midday air
And laughs and kisses fill my face
While joy begins to take its place.

But when I venture from the world
My life again starts to unfurl
And off my face goes to its bin
To show my colors from within.

It's all a senseless fake I show
So why can't you just let me go?
It's not like even you have dared
To show even a hint of care.

So as I lay face down again –
Wishing that my heart would mend –
Thoughts of tomorrow fill my mind:
Another day pretending to shine.
