Unknown
(A poem about life of a Jew on the run when it's snowy out!)

No matter how or when I came
Every family was the same
Every one of them said no
I could not stay, I had to go.

They could not keep me safe from harm
Or give me blankets to keep warm
And they refused to know my name
So they'd deny I even came.

So I wander through the streets
Looking for someplace to sleep
But for now I'm all alone
Forever more I'll be unknown.

It seems like everyone's insane
Refusing care to those in pain
It hurts so much to understand
That we no longer share this land.

Because of only just one man
We are lost to an evil plan
We are forced to run away,
Hide ourselves from light of day.

While most others don't survive
Mere prayers are keeping me alive
Apart from God I'm all alone
Aside from Him I am unknown.

While I'm running for my life
I'll be forever at His side
And though I cannot see His face
I smile, for he shows me grace.

Though fellow men leave me deprived
My heritage keeps me alive
Though through God I'm not alone
To fellow man I'm but unknown.

A poem I wrote during 10th grade for a huge speech I had to give on the 40's :)
