Sweet promises and lies,

An innocent child,

With innocent eyes.

Never saw the cage,

Until too late.

They had locked the door,

And barred the gate.

Nearly 10 years were spent,

Trying to break free,

Banged on the door,

Until nothing was left.

I was shut in the dark,

Left alone to weep,

Locked up in a cage,

I was locked up for keeps.

Eventually I tired,

and Became so small,

I could slip through the bars,

Not hindered at all...
