Fear

Most primal of all emotions

It sneaks upon you without warning

It makes every shadow darker

Every sound louder and more ominous

It makes those who are calm overcome with panic

Those who are sweet turn rabidly violent

You try to close your eyes

Attempting to eradicate this feeling but it is no use

It has planted its seed

There is nothing you can do

Its cold dark sludge is pumping through your veins

You try to run but you can't outrun it

Hide but it already knows where you are

Try to breathe but it has clogged your lungs

The whites of your eyed are vibrant

There is no escape from the poison of humanity

It lurks in every corner

Always just outside of the corner of your eye

Your senses are now hyper aware

Sleep evades you

Your smile is forced

Eyes have become glassy

All you want is to escape

To be free

But there is no freedom

Your fear will always follow you

For all of eternity it will be just a step behind
