Chapter one

It wasn't normal, but we humans have been able to accept it. Time traveling. My live has evolved around it ever since I was ten. Now, I am thankful for the invention of the time machine because I can see my favorite band play before they died, when I was eleven in 2024, in a plane crash. This time is 2016 and I would be three right now.

My two best friends, Callie and Jack were here, too. They are together, together (boyfriend, girlfriend is what I mean) ever since I met them in the second grade. Jack had a crush on her back then and they started dating in eighth grade after Jack confessed his love to her, which made her really happy because she liked him too. I stood beside them in the middle of all of that. I would be the one Jack would run to, when Callie wouldn't do this or do that. Callie would run to me, when she would notice Jack wasn't acting like himself that day. I finally told Jack to tell her he liked her and now they are together.

This was the first time Mom and Dad have let me come to the past by myself. My parents finally trust me in the past. Finally. Everyone else's parents would let them got to the past and when I would go to complain, Mom would utter 'well I'm not everyone else's parents' or 'if everyone else jumped off a bridge would you'. And when I wouldn't answer she would say 'exactly' to the second comment.

Callie and Jack were making out as we wait in line to show some guy our tickets. I handed the guy our tickets about five minutes later after they finish their make out section. There wasn't really a big turn up at the club we were in, so there was a lot of space to stand between the stage and our table.

Callie and Jack stood in the middle of the floor dance with each other as I watched. They were dancing to the opening act, which wasn't the band that would die, but they were actually just as good. I caught the bass player staring at me, when I looked up at them. He made a shy smile to me and I smiled back.

I quickly looked away after that I could still feel his eyes on me though and I snuck looks at him. Callie had Jack go buy her a drink, so she watched once as I watched the bass player, who was watching me.

"Hmm. That guy you are watching is looking at you, Kat." Jack announced, when he came back with our drinks. I'm glad he thought about getting me a drink usually he does, but last time I went to the mall with them he forgot to get me a drink because he was too busy think about Callie. I wish I could meet someone like Jack.

"Thanks for announcing that out loud, Jack," I replied.

He smiled. "You are welcome."

I looked at him. "Go dance with your girlfriend."

"Yes, Ma'am. Come on Calliste." He held his hand out to Callie.

"Yes sir," Callie uttered taking his hand.

Jack led their way to the dance floor and the music from the opening act stopped. I looked up at the stage and the bass player was carrying his bass of the stage. I watched as he left out of the side door, which sucked because I would never be able to see him, again.

My band came onto the stage and I watched them in awe. I wish I could play the guitar, but I can't. I am exactly like Dad. We both are talentless. I looked at Jack and was glad he picked Callie instead of falling for me because right now he is doing the robot. Yeah, I'm definitely glad he isn't my boyfriend.

I tried to watch the band play, but Jack was too busy doing the sprinkler now that I couldn't avert my eyes from him. It looked like I was daydreaming about my best friend even though I didn't even like him like him. I was almost too busy watching Jack that I almost didn't feel a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around to find the cute bass player standing right behind me. He grinned ear to ear, when I turned around. He was taller than I was and he had beautiful blue eyes.

"Hi," he uttered.

"Hi," I replied back.

We stood there quietly for a few moments staring into one another's eyes. I was afraid of what might happen next, but we actual hit it off really well.

His name was Jeremiah Lee and he was eighteen just like me. He wanted to make sure I was legal even though we could date even if I wasn't because you have to be at least seventeen to get into the club. He couldn't shut up. I think he was nerves and he told me to tell him to shut up every time we would go of topic, which I did.

We mostly stayed the table, but he would insist on us dance a few times. I knew he wanted to get really close to me, I think. He smelt nice, when we did dance and he would always have a hand on my waist.

"Catarina, we are leaving," Jack uttered.

"Okay." I kept looking at Jeremiah though. "Bye."

"Bye," Callie and Jack uttered.

Jeremiah took a sip out of his drink and yawned. He looked back at me and then at his watch. "It is midnight."

"What?" I asked, shocked.

Mom was supposed to bring me back to our time an hour ago. She forgot about me. She never forgets things and she forgot about me. Are you serious? I looked away from Jeremiah and down at my Lee pad.

A Lee pad looked exactly like a cell phone except it had holograms coming from it. A man with the last name Lee invited it along with the first time machine. I don't exactly remember his first name because I was tested on it in fifth grade years ago.

"What is wrong?" he asked, concerned.

"My mom is late picking me up. She was supposed to be here an hour ago," I replied.

He calmed down. "Go call her than. If she doesn't answer, you can come home with me until she calls back because this place is about to close for the night and I doubt you would like to stay here outside in the cold and I believe it is raining."

"Okay. I'll be right back." I stood up.

"I'll be waiting," he uttered.

I walked to the girl's bathroom and called Mom. She didn't answer of course because she probably forgot was even out, so she turned off her Lee pad. She always turns off her Lee pad, when she knows all of us are home. Dad recently changed his digits for his number, so I need to get that in my Lee pad once I get home, so I can call him as well next time. I walked out of the bathroom mad, but I didn't show it, when I walked back to the table, where Jeremiah still sat.

"Well?" he asked.

"She didn't answer," I replied.

"What about your dad's cell number?" His eyebrow rose.

"He recently changed it because is old temp wouldn't stop calling to get her old job back," I uttered. "I don't have his number."

He smiled. "Well, I guess you are coming home with me than, Catarina."

"I guess so," I replied.

He held his hand out for me to take and I followed him to his car that turned out to be his mother's car. He looked back at me a few times and smiled a few times as we walked to his mother's car.

"What am I sleeping in tonight?" I uttered.

He looked at me. "Er…I guess one of my shirts, if you don't mind," he uttered.

"Okay," I replied. "I don't mind."

He nodded and opened the passenger's side door for me. He closed the door behind me after I stepped into the car. He watched me out of the corner of his eyes as he drove to his house.
